BOTulism

As many of you are aware, this subreddit has been overrun by bots lately. Moderators have implemented both automated and manual controls. We have also added a report category for AI/bots. If you think that you see a bot, please report it. If the bot is providing misinformation, please correct the misinformation.

Please do NOT call out the response as a bot. For one, it feels very un-excellent to real humans who get called out and that's not how we want to welcome new users. And more importantly, as someone who works extensively with LLMs (ethically, in a closed proprietary system) in my day job, when you call out a bot and explain why you think it's a bot, you are training that bot to better escape detection.

Posts with a certain number of reports will be automatically removed. Human moderators will review the rest. We['re sorry that this is happening. It's a sitewide problem and we're a big subreddit with a lot of text-based information, so bots love it.

Washington folks! *The Pencil Test* Spoiler

If you live near the Seattle area you’ve got to check out the store “the pencil test”. There is also a location in Oregon.
The help at this store and the selection are both on the next level!! The staff is very professional and helpful, I was sized and got put in bras I would’ve never chosen for my self and one after another felt incredible. I could’ve easily bought 25 bras, the selection was truly insane and I’ve never felt so perfectly sized. I wound up buying 6 bras all around the $50-90 range which I was very happy with.
I had previously been a Victoria’s Secret wearer and sized at a 32D, turns out I’m a 32DDD-E!!! No wonder I wasn’t feeling comfortable.

Confused about Negative Underwear bra sizing - 28D

Thumbnail negativeunderwear.com
• Upvotes

Band (inches)

Loose 27.5

Snug 27

Tight 26

Bust (inches)

Standing 31

Leaning 32

Laying 30

Calculator says 28D - which is a new discovery for me. Always thought I was a 34A with strange breasts bc bras never fit. Now I know why 🤯

Anyway, I must be an idiot because so many people seem to like Negative bras, but I don’t understand their sizing (specifically for their wireless bras).

There’s a column for underbust - great, I’m 26-28. Now for the confusion. The next column says Bust and it starts at 30 then goes down to 42. What is this number? Maybe +4 to band? Why label it as bust? Ugh strange.

And then the next columns go from A to G. So if we ignore the bust column, and go to D, I’m a 2?? Seems too big. But then if we don’t ignore the bust column and look at my sister size 34A, it says 1. This makes more sense to me. BUT my OTHER sister sizes are a 30C/32B which would make me a 0!! Making me soo confused. 😵‍💫

Can anyone who has purchased from Negative help me out here. Also forgive me because I seem to have some trauma related to buying bras online. TIA!

Single sided back pain while wearing bras or sportsbras, post reconstruction Spoiler

I have always been well-endowed. I had gotten fitted years ago and they always wanted to put me in a 36 band, which I always complained that the would creep up my back. A few years ago I got fitted at a Soma outlet store and was told I should be wearing a 32 DDD/G. I just did the measurement tool and got the same result. That said, I typically wear size Medium bras or sportsbras.

My problem is that I always end up getting back pain below my left shoulder blade. I'm a breast cancer survivor and had a lumpectomy and radiation on my right breast. I had reconstructive surgery with an implant (under the muscle). There was later a recall on that implant, so I had to have a revision. I sized down on the implant and had a reduction on my left side. (One side is "supported" and one side isn't.) Of note, I was fitted at Soma after all these surgeries, so the 32DDD/G was accurate then and now.

I am retired and dress pretty casually/comfortably, and am in the gym five days a week, so I'm mostly in sports bras with varying degrees of compression. Lately I have found myself just taking off my bra at home. Today I got out the massager to work on the soreness. I will admit that I do a lot of sitting while at home and am somewhat kyphotic when seated, though I do have decent posture when standing.

I guess I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations. I don't really want to be braless whenever I'm home, but this pain/discomfort is really wearing on me.

Recommendations? Found a bra that fits, thanks Freya and this sub! Looking for suggestions on a second bra from Panache (UK 32H) Spoiler

• Upvotes

Thank you everyone who has helped me!! A bra I had forgotten I ordered came in and I’m really pleased with the fit. It’s the Freya Love Crush bra in white, 32H. Band felt a little too tight at first, but it stretched after a day and now it’s comfortable to wear. The wire sits perfectly and encapsulates all my tissue, especially on the side. The gore tacks and the size of the gore is perfect. Cups sit well and band doesn’t ride up, only issue is that the straps can slide a bit— however I have very sloped shoulders so I kind of expect that with most bras.

Which brings me to my question- I know many in this sub have previously recommended me the panache Ana, (which I have ordered), Envy, the Nina, the jasmine, the blossom, and the Clara. All of them seem to be on the FoT recs with the exception of the Clara.
I just want a nice classy black bra with some lace and good support to wear under black tops. 🙂 I like the look of all of them besides jasmine but I will wear it if it works lol.

Just curious if this success might change any of those recommendations or place one over the rest. I’ve tried quite a few of the Freya unlined plunges/ balconette, with no luck, but I haven’t tried the starlight, the offbeat side support, and the cherish me. Or if there’s another Freya you think would suit- but in general it seems that panache is more often rec for my shape.
Measurements:
Loose 33
regular 32
tight 31
Regular fullest 41
90 degrees 43
Lying down 41

Shape: projected, close set, tall roots so FoT, slightly even to outer full. Wires with a comparable length to this bra specifically appreciated!!

Question How are band clips supposed to work? Does using the furthest clip mean I got the wrong size? Spoiler

I used the calculator and got a surprising size, bought some bras from a UK site that ships to the US, and they arrived last week. I tried them on and they all seem to fit really well, but I did notice I can only wear them on the furthest clip. Is that normal? Is the band too small? Am I supposed to be able to tighten it over time? I don’t know how I made it this far in life without a proper understanding of something I wear everyday, but better late than never, right?

Recommendations? Help fitting after losing 150 lbs Spoiler

I’m seeking recommendations from people who might have experience in fitting bras after extreme weight loss.

I am currently wearing a 34D. I tend to stick with moulded balconettes with high bands. Due to the weight loss, I have a lot of loose skin. I used the calculator and it gave me 36DDD. At that size, the cups are not filling out because what I am working with is loose skin rather than fat, muscle, and tissue. Underwires are also a must as I fall out of the bra without them. I also can’t wear anything that has any sort of plunge, as I fall out in the center. Any help is appreciated!

Question Larger bra where to find in Canada Spoiler

• Upvotes

Hi there!

I’m hoping I can get recommendations on where to find a bra in Canada

Sizing from a bra that fits calculator (in inches)

Bra Size Calculator
Loose Underbust: 37

Snug Underbust: 36.5

Tight Underbust: 35

Standing Bust: 45

Leaning Bust: 48

Lying Bust: 45

Suggested Starting Size: 38H/I US

The sister size of 36I/J may be more supportive

I haven’t wore more than a sports bra in 6/7 years and need something!

Recommendations? Measure 34DD. My measurements have a small tight underbust and big leaning bust. Nothing ever fits right. I need bra [recommendations]. Spoiler

My measurements:
Loose Underbust: 34
Snug Underbust: 32
Tight Underbust: 32
Standing Bust: 38
Leaning Bust: 41
Lying Bust: 38

The calculator recommends 34DD. I feel like bras are either too big in the cup (gaping at the sides), or the band is too tight. I feel like my shape would fit a balconnette bra but they are hard to find. Right now Ive been wearing a 36DD from Olga (underwire, no padding), the cup fits, the straps dont slide, but the gore isn't flush to my body.

I need recommendations.

Recommendations? Need recommendations but don't know where to start - suggested bras on Wiki not made anymore? Spoiler

I've just done the calculator for the first time and here are my measurements:

LU 33

SU 32

TU 30

Standing 40

Leaning 41

Lying 41

The calculator says 32FF/G, and I'm full on the bottom. I am also quite asymmetrical, but I don't know how to work out how much (or if it even matters!).

I currently have two Ewa Michalak bras, bought after sending them my measurements - a S Szykuś in size 75E that fits beautifully initially, but then after I've moved around for a while the nipple on the larger side pokes over the top of the cup. I also have a S Kawalura in size 75E that I bought after I told them about the above problem, and that fits better although I do start to spill out of that one a bit (only on the bigger side) after a while too. After sending photos to them and discussing my asymmetry I tried a Soft HBM Antonina in size 75F but that was too big, so I sent it back.

I do like the Ewa Michalak bras, but my main problem is that sending them back is a nightmare - the last one I returned in July, DPD were unable to deliver it despite me using the address provided on the return form (complete with contact email and phone number) and it's now been sitting in UK customs waiting for clearance to return to me since August.

I bought the Kawalura in March and maybe it's because I've been wearing it every day but it's already onto the third set of hooks, so I'll have to replace it before too long.

Does anyone have any recommendations for anything closer to home? I'm in the UK. A lot of the bras on the wiki recommendations are not made anymore so I don't know where to start.

First Underwire Bra in a While. Is The Discomfort from Sizing or the Bra Itself? HELP PLEASE IM SO SICK OF BRA SHOPPING I JUST WANT TO FEEL PRETTY Spoiler

• Upvotes

Hello, I went to Nordstroms yesterday to get fitted for a bra for the first time in a while. I have quite large breasts and for the past few years I have worn sports bras. But im 23 now and I need support. Nordstroms was amazing and fitted me as a 34I US and sold me the 34G(UK) Elomi Matilda Bra. It felt great in the store. The underwire is flush with my sternum and the straps line up well with the underwire. I have no side or front “seepage”. I left the store feeling grateful.

THE PROBLEM:

I just wore the bra for seven hours and I want to cry. It just felt so strange and wasnt comfortable. I felt it against my skin every second. I was hyper aware of its existence.

Areas of discomfort:

The middle of the underwire/directly under the center of my breast. The sternum area where the underwire appears from under the breast to where it ends(for clarification its not exactly poking or stabbing). And then the area between the top of the shoulder and where the bra straps begin in the back.

No sharp stabbing pain. Just mild itchiness, irritation, or discomfort in all the areas listed above.

THE QUESTION:

I havent worn underwire bras in awhile. Is this just a feeling I have to get used to? Can an underwire bra ever truly be “comfortable” for large breasts? Are the areas of discomfort related to the sizing or quality of the bra or both?

Measurement Check Based on my measurements, what bra size am I actually supposed to be wearing? 34b? Spoiler

• Upvotes

Hi! I am currently wearing 34b bras, and I find they fit okay, but I’m using the innermost hooks on the band most of the time. I have tried 32c bras, and depending on the brand, they’re usually quite tight in the band. My main measurements however are about 29/30 inch under-bust and a 34/35 inch bust. The calculator website for this page gave me the sizes 30D and 30DD US. What I’m mainly wondering is, if a 32 band felt too tight, how would I fight into a 30 band? Along with that, where can I even find places where I’d be able to try on a 30-band size in person? I truly am just on a quest to find a bra that actually fits me perfectly. If it helps any, I feel like I am more of a bell/teardrop shape.

Recommendations? [Recommendations?] I dont know what bra shape/brands work for me as my shape and size confuses me. Spoiler

• Upvotes

I recently bought a few bra’s in size 65E/30DD which seemed to fit relatively well compared to my older bra’s in 70C/32C. My breast shape is side set and quite round, with my bottom slightly heavier (i dont have a lot of volume on the top). I feel like i dont even have big breasts but the ABTF said im a 60G/28F? My measurements (Cm) are:
Loose underbust: 70
Snug underbust: 68
Tight underbust: 66
Standing bust: 84.5
Lean bust: 87.5
Lying bust: 84.5
I struggle with bra’s cutting into my armpits (either the straps and/or the cups) and thats why im reluctant to buy any bra in size 28F. What bra’s or brands are likely to work for me in this size? I prefer molded/padded cups that enhance my size/shape.
Im still quite confused how bra’s work and ive always been quite insecure about my smaller chest so its been a shock and almost unbelievable that i should buy such a size. Thanks for any help!!

Breasts falling out of Demi bra. Would balconette be the same problem? 28F/30E and insecure about size. Spoiler

This community has been so helpful! Thank you!

I am 28F/30E and have been wearing Cuup and Third Love (I am in the US). I was given a Fantasie full coverage, unlined, bra for a show I did, and I have never felt better!

One of the issues I was having with the cuup bras, was falling out of the bra when I would bend over or having shifting during the day that would make me look like I am spilling out of the top.

I am fuller on bottom and center full. I have a petite frame with large breasts that have always made me feel insecure. I like the full coverage, but would like to have other options in my drawer. Would I have the same problem with a well fitting balconette? I do not like cleavage the feeling of my breasts touching. Thanks for your help!

EDIT: thank you so much for the help! I have ordered a couple options!

Looking for a bra to play Janet in Rocky Horror

In kind of a specific situation and hoping to get some suggestions! I’m in rehearsals for Rocky Horror right now and in the show I’m in my underwear for most of it. I do a lot of running around the theatre and I think my current bra will just end up with my boobs out. I have quite big boobs and need a bra that’s cute but also has some real support. I got measured at Victoria’s Secret and was a 36DD and the bras fit kind of weird, as well as being really plain. So really in search of a white bra that’s flattering (maybe with lace or otherwise cute) that has a lot of support.

Does anyone have any suggestions for brands? I’ll have to order online.

Thank you!!

Recommendations? Postpartum boobies, can’t figure out size Spoiler

• Upvotes

Basically I breastfed 2 kids and my boobs are almost nonexistent now, kinda just loose skin. My bust measurement is 32.5 and my underbust is 30.5. I’ve tried a 32B and a 32A based on size charts and neither fit right. I’m not sure what size to try next.

Recommendations? Tried 2 more bras after suggestions and still no luck - next? Spoiler

Back with an update from the last 2 I was told to try -

Freya Spotlight - 32F - band seemed okay, cups too big up top, lots of bunched fabric

Panache Serene Side Support - 32F - band seemed okay, cups too big up top, lots of bunched fabric

Hi! I used the calculator and got 32DD. Ordered 6 different bras and had issues with all of them..listing here! Looking for help on what to do next.

Natori Cloud Comfort Full Fit Smoothing TShirt Bra in 32DD - band was suffocatingly tight and space at top of cup.

Freya Offbeat Side Support in a 32DD - band was way too tight even backwards. The cup was also too small.

Panache Envy 32E - still a little tight on the band but not quite as bad. The tops of the cups were also loose making the shape of my breasts really strange looking.

Panache Envy 32DD - seemed better in the cups but the band was very snug and also had irritation/tightness/spillage in my armpit area.

Skarlett Blue Entice Balconette - band was not as snug feeling although I had some back fat but the cups were too small and spilling out of the top

Panache Ana - 34E band was good but cups too big

Here are my measurements-
Loose Underbust: |31.5
Snug Underbust: |31
Tight Underbust: |29
Standing Bust: |35
Leaning Bust: |39
Lying Bust: |37

Soft tissue, fuller on bottom. 4 fingers in between when leaning over at 90 degrees.

Measurement Check [measurement check] going from a 34C to a 30DDD and looking for advice Spoiler

I’ve lost about 30lbs so far this year and my current bras are now too big in the band. I went to remeasure and am looking for some thoughts/guidance:

Loose underbust: 30 in
Snug underbust: 29 in
Tight underbust: 27 in
Standing bust: 35 in
Leaning bust: 38 in
Lying bust: 36 in

I have been wearing 34C for quite some time and the calculator gave 30DDD. I find I have more tissue on towards the underarm areas and am more full at the bottom.

I’m not sure what to look for or where to start. Thank you in advance!

Recommendations? Looking for a bra like the cuup plunge but with bigger cup options. Spoiler

32H/I, bell shaped and very soft breasts from years of BF.

I received the a 34H plunge from someone and LOVE it other than the band being a bit loose and the cups pretty much on the line for holding the girls in. The fabric and feeling of nothing being there is amazing though. I’m trying to find a similar feeling bra but with better coverage and hopefully a wider band if possible.

On top of this, I have tons of back pain from my breasts and would love any recs for something that separates, holds well and is super comfy for everyday around the house wear under t-shirts.

I hope I posted correctly. I was very excited to find this sub as I’ve been in tears numerous times trying to find something that works and doesn’t accentuate the ladies.

Thank You! Finally some bra success that made me cry!!

I am a large chested person with an "odd" breast shape. Originally the calculator told me that I am a 40J/K.

I have tried on so many bras, all different types and styles and sizes. VS only ever sized me for what they carried in store so I forced on a 38DDD and said that it will have to do. However it was also so uncomfortable that I went back to wearing sports bras and I have worn that bra maybe twice.

On the hunt for a potential strapless bra, JCPennys only carried up to a 44DD in strapless. I learned that a 40 band fits perfectly, as the calculator said, however I am certainly larger than a DD. While staring at the mirror, I had a thought... Why not take my band size and subtract from the standing rather than the leaning. With this, I decided to step away from strapless and try on the largest cup size i could find in this particular store: a 40G... still a smaller cup than what the calculator said, but I will try it on.

IT FIT. It fit perfectly. I was in awe! I also learned in that moment after browsing this sub some more from the fitting room trying to figure out why it fit so well yet the gore wasn't flesh with sternum that I have tubular breast. I always thought that this shape was only in smaller chests but after looking up examples of large tubular chests, I noticed it looked exactly like mine! (This also is likely why I fit in a G, with the J/K option not account for how much I could push in my chest and such)

The JCPennys bra I was trying on was a full coverage. This subreddit led me to go to a different store (I went to Lane Bryant because it was next door and I knew for a fact that they would carry a 40G) and try on balconette bras. They fit me perfectly with a more flush gore and the wire didn't stab my under arm.

All this to say, thank you ABTF! After about a week of exploring this page and learning about different bras and how shapes of chests can affect sizing, I have finally been able to find a bra that I feel comfortable and CONFIDENT in! I genuinely started crying in the car after buying 2 bras that fit me perfectly because I have been wanting this since for almost 10 years. i truly started to feel hopeless. Thank you, ABTF community. Everyone who has ever posted here has truly changed my life today.

Recommendations? Looking for an easy to get on/off sports bra or other soft bra for 50" underbust Spoiler

I am trying to help my aunt find a bra for my developmentally disabled cousin. The only measurement that she told me was 50". She does not want an underwear or padding. She really prefers a sports bra or something with not a ton of structure that's easy to get on and off but still provides support and modesty because she is an adult woman.

In terms of the rest of the measurements, as I am not currently with her it's hard to tell but I do know that she doesn't have a ton of tissue in her breasts, but they do sag down so she needs more than a simple single layer sports bra.

She doesn't mind the feel of separate cups as long as it's soft and easy for her to get on and off herself. She's doing mostly sports bra with no closure just putting them over her head I think, but I think she would be open to and able to use a front closure as long as the back was thick to avoid rolling or riding up.

ETA: 50" in the underbust measurement. I know that it would be better to have more measurements, but it's a rather delicate situation and I'm not really able to get more at this moment

Thanks everyone!
