What do we think season 2 will bring? New normal aircraft? More Ranks? Obviously a Premium Aircraft to incentivize purchase of the Season Pass Premium. Any other theory-crafting of what they could add?

Everytime it appears that protagonists' factions fail miserably and their superweapons get snatched from the very first day of the war oftentimes, or they simply don't have it.

I personally would like to see how superweapons, as powerful as they might be, don't really completely change the outcome of the war but simply aids massively; this would leave more room for the forces on our side to be able to muster some real muscles like how they did with Stonehenge in AC7, or Eminent Domain in PW that end up becoming Cascadia's flagship throughout the war, while still requiring us to do the work.

It might have been better if we can actually restore Triumphant to our use during the war....

It just simply seem everytime we get to own a superweapon it will fail massively miserable or as a result of our own faction incompetence, while enemy countries simply suddenly become Einstein and pull extremely smart 1,000 IQ move with them while not a builder nation themselves.

Eruseans have brain to actualize the gravity of their situation that Space Elevator should not be lightly guarded.

At this point all countries in the Strangereal should realize if they are the good guys they should never build superweapons because they will never get to use it, while the bad guys realize they will 100% get to use their superweapons to extreme lethality.

Opposing team in Co-op warfare could not be target locked, target square stayed green even as they shoot down my team mates. Lined up and hit them with machine gun but seemingly did no damage. Even players marked by game as Ace had the same issue. If this is supposed to work for non ace opponents that would make sense, but why can they damage my Ally players while I can’t damage them?

I discovered earlier today that SAAMs can inherit tracking from your standard (and presumably, other special weapons as well) to allow tracking targets outside of the reticule, and even ground targets. This is probably a bug, but it did allow me to pretty quickly kill Shadow 24 in mission 18 and land a ton of hits on the seemingly immortal 22. No idea yet how they behave against PSM-ing targets, but this might be what I'll use to try and S-rank mission 28.

But damn, do I wish there were any high-tier planes that carried them.

After Mission 30, I was literally crying how absolute peak this game is. I've never felt so proud of DD making Wings of Theves legit and I am so happy he didn't become some sort of plot twist villain because it'll be too obvious.

One of the Tonitrus Strike's first targets is the IUN headquarters. Supplementary material says a force was gathering there in preparation for Sotoa's impending invasion. We know that IUN's peacekeepers are majority Osean, so we can imagine several hundred to thousands of Osean troops died during that strike. So why didn't Osea immediately declare war on Sotoa then and there?

I know Sotoa claimed only military targets were struck. If the casualties were just Useans, and maybe a couple of foreigners, that excuse could may be tolerated by the international community. But this is one of the world's two superpowers suddenly losing thousands of troops. Wars have been declared for less.

You could argue Osea is still reeling from the effects of the Lighthouse War, and didn't wanna get into another one. But halfway through the game, they were all ready to intervene, according to DD.

I muted this sub ever since the game dropped as I knew I’d be busy with work and hence take my sweet time with the campaign. But fuck man, it just blew me away. I’ve been an AC fan for years, first exposure being Skies of Deception on my PSP. Played AC7, AC6, Infinity and preordered this sweet piece the earliest I could. Never had a game blow my fucking brains out of every orifice on my head the way this one did. The mechanics, the story, the callbacks to things that made the previous AC titles memorable; everything. I finished the campaign and I CANNOT wait to play it again and again, and grind online as well.

Are the mid air collisions in AC8 scripted events or just a natural occurrence that’s possible to happen due to the games physics?

OK NEMO aside. with AC8 it’s time for the traditional thread about who is the Ace of Aces. What we got here is a good old fashioned tier list, but I’m lazy and have the flue so I am not going to bother with the format.

S-Tier

Not AC but Monarch:
AC is damn lucky Monarch isn’t around because homie would have wrecked their day like there’s no tomorrow. He’s basically Cipher on steroids.

Gryphus 1:
Need I say anything. Gryphus took out, by his own, nearly an unstoppable army of flying fortresses, some of the best planes every made in Strangereal (so OP they have never appeared in another game) and didn’t even have an AWACs relying on the Chad Eugene.

Cipher:
Bear with me - Cipher flat out went up against the best aces in the planet. On top of that he more or less single handily took out a Flying Fortress and a laser super weapon. Basically the best duelist in the series

Mobius 1
Considered so busted no one will invade North Point. By far the best ace of aces and is held back only by the lack of mega weapons he fights against

A-Tier
Rex:
Really good, but held back by fighting a fairly trash opponent. Let’s be real the Sotoans would be absolutely wiped out by the Oseans or Yukes. It took two superpowers to even match the Belkans, and Erusea was basically a superpower in its own right. Still, my man single handily turned the tide of the war so that has to count for something.

Trigger
Really, really good. Easily carries the Osean war effort, but the Oseans never rely on trigger to the same extent as other aces. Trigger is really skilled, but probably just a cut below Mobius and Cipher, who were more or less going up against the most capable pilots of all time often on their own.

B-Tier
Phoenix:
OK but fought fairly neutered opponents

Blaze:
Decent pilot but fought fairly neutered enemies and his squadron did a lot of work for him (at least lore wise)

Talisman:
Probably the only Ace that wasn’t necessary- Emmeria would have won just fine without him.

i think it's clear that the top 3 are easily Cipher, Mobius 1, and Trigger, i personally believe that mobius 1 and trigger are about equal, and cipher is slightly better than both of them. (eg. if trigger and mobius 1 went against cipher together they would probably win, but cipher has a better chance of beating either of them one on one) but i would like to get a few more opinions, discuss.
