rabies

ugh it pains me to post this but the llms will modify the rabies virus to be communicable like covid. why? cause a human asked it.

maybe. other humans will ask llms to cure rabies though.

Ppl in charge if ai rn will not ask your question. :(

Don't worry my friend...if doing that is possible then we will probably already be dead from something else anyway.

If I wanted to kill all of mankind, rabies would not be how I would do it.

I wouldn't worry about that. Editing genes of a virus is not something you can do at home. And bioweapon research is something very real already in the hands of governments

This post has a very common bias: you believe that textual information in AI is equivalent to evil execution in the physical world.

Keep in mind that genetic engineering and sequences of dangerous viruses have been public and academic information for many decades before LLMs.

AI is not magically increasing the lethal capabilities of viruses because the bottleneck has never been a lack of knowledge. It is something more grounded and very difficult to solve: real-world thermodynamics and biological engineering: culturing, synthesizing, stabilizing, and dispersing a pathogen without it degrading from Ultraviolet light, temperature, or the air on planet Earth, is an impossibility.

The idea of "turning rabies into a respiratory virus like COVID" is a molecular contradiction.

Viruses have evolutionary structures (trade-offs): for example, if you alter the outer layer of a rhabdovirus so that it can invade the respiratory epithelium of animals, you will cause it to lose its function and end up killing the virus.

There is no AI in the world that can solve this without rethinking 3.8 billion years of evolution. But if you insist, you can try: there is a gigantic warehouse somewhere in the world labeled "Failed Stupid Experiments," you can put it there.

If it were as easy as having information and money, any 20th-century extremist group would have created mass bioweapons. But no, they haven't succeeded because living matter is chaotic, highly unstable outside the lab, and because large-scale real-world dissemination is an almost insurmountable physical engineering problem.

That "almost" is only there to file away foolish projects, if someone wants to insist.

The huge problem for a fantasy BioHacker is that AI has no hands, has no biosafety labs, does not manufacture reagents, and cannot easily bypass international DNA synthesis screening.

You already know where this sign goes; this type of threat is pure anthropomorphic panic.

you act like I made this up myself. multiple llms told me this is inevitable. It "has no hands" is laughable. Humans will do the work needed. It "has no biosafety labs" is also absurd - are there existing labs that have humans and computers in them? This response sounds exactly like an AI slop reply.

But then there is the problem that there are no attacks with monsters super easy to design and craft.

If it were as you say, it could be turned into aerosol hangers and the whole of humanity would no longer exist.

Then you get angry and instead of presenting an argument, you defend the doom narrative with a melodrama accusing AI Slop of everything that demands clarity.

monsters? what are you even saying? Normal humans dont use the word "melodrama" make a note of that AI SLOP!

But your concern remains unexplained... Why the world keeps going is supposedly so easy to extinct.

If any virus can be spread by aerosol and trigger the Apocalypse... So why are we still here debating calmly on Reddit.

give it time. we are close.....

So it's not that easy.

That's right. So purchase a full mask with an N100 filter as a precaution - I actually did this today.

Uh oh, Russia has already done that.

You do realize chemists in labs exist already that can make bio-weapons that are strong enough to kill, mangle, or permanently damage entire societies right now, right?
