I like that the AI threw down two completely signatures and OOP only bothered censoring one

I am not sure what is more sad. Making lazy rage bait like that to make money or the fact people fall for it.

To anyone wondering why, as soon as you see that blue checkmark it’s money. They get money the more attention their posts get. So they ragebait.

u/WillyGoat2000 2h ago
Except…you don’t even get that copy of the receipt back after you put the tip on it and sign it, you just leave it on the table.

14% is an absurd sales tax rate

u/-Out-of-context- 1h ago
Tipping on tax is also absurd. Tip should have been $5.80 max. AI has a lot to learn.

Why do these people go so far to make themselves look like victims? It’s pretty obvious this is fake and in all of my 50 years, I’ve never had a table check brought back to me after I’ve signed it (most times, it’s not even picked up until after I leave).

I had to stare at it for a minute trying to figure out the significance of the post, until I realized it was under AISlop

Not how receipts work, either.

u/Large-Training-29 1h ago
Yeah, he put in tip and signed. That means you can leave right? In order for this to happen the server would have had to write that and give it back, but the customer doesnt take the signed recipt... lol
Its all fake idk why im trying to logic it

In what universe does one order both Turkey bacon AND vanilla coffee? Sheesh!

u/VonBunBun0 46m ago
okay, so, in america (which this person is obviously from since we're talking about tipping culture) food is not taxed. that would mean that that coffee has over a 100% tax. and i thought the tea was overtaxed!

It can vary from state to state. Most food you buy in a grocery store or similar is not taxed in my state, but restaurants absolutely are.

Even as a pro-AI person, I don't understand what the point of these is... To make servers look back? What a shitty thing to do.
3
u/bothunter 2h ago
I have no idea, but whenever I open up Facebook lately, just about every other post is some variation of this. Either a nasty comment written on a receipt in comic sans, or a weird "handwritten" note on the window of a restaurant.
And of course, tons of fighting in the comments.

If you see accounts that constantly complain about service workers, none of it is real and they’re just there to farm engagement.

They want a reaction, it builds their audience and they can sell the accounts for $$$.

Isn’t it their job to serve you?

u/Elaerona 2h ago
The operative phrase is 'for free'
Waiters/Waitresses don't typically get paid even minimum wage and rely on tips.
It's a screwed up system that only really benefits restaurant owners, but the whole rationale for providing percentages for what to tip is so that the workers take-home pay at least matches minimum wage. Which is why I tend to tip higher because I think minimum wage is poverty.
Of course, the alleged tip provided is 20% of the total, which is pretty standard. I suppose some server might exist out there who wants to fight for the highest possible tip possible, but they're going to find that....doesn't work with a lot of people nor employers.

u/Misunderstood_Wolf 1h ago
Since the total on the bill is $33.06, and the tip is 20% at $6.61.
The tip is $26, 61, since the total field lists $59.67, hence the title stating AI can't do math.
That whoever the made the image has the server implying an 80% tip is serving them for free.

u/Comprehensive-Pea422 2h ago
Minimum wage is 100% too low, but asking restaurants to pay their servers would just drive prices up. Most (non chains) operate on a thin margin, so it's either you pay 20% more on your total bill for shitty service or you choose accordingly.

I worked as a dishwasher in a Greek restaurant in high school. We were definitely getting paid well on tips added the minimum wage. I don’t think I would complain if once in a while someone doesn’t tip. Also if you don’t like the service you don’t have to tip either.

u/DrNogoodNewman 2h ago
The point of this post is that this a fake picture generated by AI. Notice the “handwriting” and the total price that is somehow almost doubled by adding a 6 dollar tip.

I mean I thinking tipping is pretty wild how the restaurant business convinced people to pay their employees for them

u/DrNogoodNewman 2h ago
Still pretty weird to have AI make a fake receipt to support a made up story about it.
3
u/Elaerona 2h ago
Yes, we all realize that now. It doesn't change the fact that certain classes of workers, and waiters are the classic example, rely on tips. I believe in paying people what they deserve for their work as a moral rule, and that doesn't change because restaurant owners are ridiculous. The system is screwed up but until the law catches up with reality I'm not going to swear-off tipping.

Half the people didn't even check if math checks out. I am also guilty. But perfectly uniform "writing" just hits you in the face instantly.
