I keep coming back to this album

After not initially loving it on first few listen-throughs, I've now come to really enjoy the album as a whole and find each song enjoyable and interesting (even "Jesus never..." which is a bit one dimensional and slow musically. The breakdown at the end is cool tho).

Red Hook Rain is genuinely one of my favorite Al Cam songs ever.

My favs:
Red Hook Rain

No Soldier

Stand-In Man

Hard for me to get into it after hearing what happen with Roy. Seems like Al pushed him out when royalties started coming in, at least that’s what Roy implied.

Where can I learn the full story?

What did he say that implied it?

Basically Al sent Roy a email saying they were not gonna work together anymore. Roy talked to their accountant soon later and was told their label had also just recouped their advance from the record deal, and now the album sales have started paying royalties to the artist starting the same month Al dropped Roy. Roy reached out to Al to see if they could talk about it and was sent back with a harsh message from a lawyer. Roy said he hadn’t made any money from any of the hundreds of shows, or merch sales, or records made, and that Alex would now receive all profits. This is just his side of course but sadly these things happen all the time.

Damn, thats a bummer.
Thanks for sharing. Would love to know the whole story. If it's closely like this its kind of heartbreaking. Love the AlCam/Roy project/discography.

No Soldier, Stand-in Man, Testosterone In Blue, Ricochet and Violent Man are all a daily listen. No Soldier and Ricochet are top tier AlCam

To me Forced Witness is still peak Alex Cameron.

There's something I love when he's singing over very full and full-bodied tracks. Late to Set has some phenomenal highs but some of the tracks are a little barer than I think suits his voice at its peak. Still, Ricochet, No Soldier, and Stand in Man enter the running as among his best tracks.

I haven't come back to it once. Some cool songs though.

I'm trying to let it grow on me. I've given it a few listens but it's hardly sticking. Loved the singles, especially Jesus Never No Porno, it's my 5th most played song in the last 6 months. I wish that the CD came out with the streaming release, it would have been on full rotation in my car

The singles did nothing for me leading up to the album, but when it came out, everything clicked for me. It’s not my favorite Alex Cameron album, but I’ve been enjoying it a lot.

I've been going back and listening to Oxy Music and Jumping the Shark. It is truly insane to me that he is not more successful than he is, but I'm glad to call him one of my current favorite artists. I'll be seeing him in a few weeks for the first time. Generational talent, imo.

edit: I missed the show. Thought it was on Monday instead of Sunday. Absolutely gutted. I'll try to catch Donny Benet.
