LOOKING FOR APP Looking for an Android app to schedule notification blocking
Hi guys, I'm looking for an app that can automatically block or silence notifications from my WhatsApp and messages between 6 PM and 9 AM every day. I prefer to not bring work to my home.
Ideally, it should let me customize which apps' notifications are blocked, rather than applying a blanket DND mode. FOSS or open-source apps are preferred, and I'm fine with apps that require Shizuku or ADB permissions.
I've tried a few notification-filtering apps, but haven't found one that reliably does this. Any recommendations?

Have you tried NotiFilter

I tried it before but it marked the notifications as read. So when I went to check the messages it wasn't showing as unread and I missed a bunch of notifications.

modes on android itself might do this tbh, you can set a schedule and pick which apps get through instead of trusting a filter app to stay alive. samsung routines is even better for this if you are on a galaxy

Tasker and MacroDroid can schedule per-app notification silencing, so you can mute WhatsApp and Messages between 6 PM and 9 AM. If you prefer open-source tools, Automate and Easer also support time-based profiles and work with Shizuku or ADB permissions. All of these let you pick individual apps instead of using the global DND mode. Just set a time trigger, choose the apps, and the profile will toggle the notification filter for you.

You may not need a third-party app. On recent Android versions Do Not Disturb (called Modes on Android 15 and newer Pixels) lets you set a schedule, like 6 PM to 9 AM, and choose which apps are still allowed to notify you. Anything not on the allowed list, like WhatsApp, gets silenced during that time, and you can also set it to hide the notifications completely instead of just muting them. If your phone has Digital Wellbeing, its Focus mode does something even stricter: it pauses the chosen apps entirely on a schedule, so nothing from them arrives until the window ends. Menu names vary by manufacturer, so it's worth looking under both Sound and Digital Wellbeing.

I'll look into it. If a 3rd party is not needed then it's the best.
Edit: Thank you. I have created a schedule and added every other apps as 'exception' except for WA business.

I'm building Sift for more granular controls over notifications, I can add time based blocking
It already logs your notifications and hide it so you can go back to check if it might have blocked something useful
