Huh, a special OVA for whales that bought enough goods. It's gonna be quarity production methinks.
Why is Mai washing her hair in a sink? And her left hand is bandaged. Oh, she's learning to cook. And she was the one that originally wanted to send a letter but had Sayuri do that.
Are they in Britain or at least somewhere in Europe?

Kaori and Kitagawa going on a date? Tsundere here?
Hey, it's the girl from Makoto's route. Makoto isn't dead?
Ayu standing in front of a wedding dress display... foreshadowing?
Shiori and Ayu meet. Shiori with the unintended emotional damage on Ayu, haha. So Shiori does have a parent she spends time with.
Are they third years now, or is she just stopping doing track because they'll be third years when the next school year starts? Either way, they have the dreaded college entrance exams to prepare for.
Yuuichi, girls don't like it when you call them fat even as a joke and they walked right into it.
And he's late to his date because he was talking to a different girl. Even if it's his cousin that looked like she needed someone to talk to.
Makoto became a guardian angel or something?
It's raining Makoto's ashes?

Okay, so this was an epilogue. I wish more anime did stuff like this.

I believe Shiori was held back a grade due to missing school.

I mean, yeah, she would struggle to catch up if she tried to stay in her grade and school in Japan is hard enough when you're caught up. Ayu on the other hand has seven years to catch up on. I doubt they'd just put her in fourth or fifth grade of elementary, though.

She would probably be allowed to be a Freshman in high school.

She'd probably get tutoring in the hospital as she went through physical therapy. And likely has a traumatic brain injury that could affect her learning ability. No affect on mobility from the looks of it.

I guess it only really can be done with anime that finish. Way too many that get one season, then you have to go read the source material for the rest.

As someone who hates summer Winter>Fall>Spring>>>>>>>>>Summer.
Thoughts on Mai and Sayuri studying abroad?
Depends on which country they went to. And honestly, it probably meant they didn't have to slave their way through the Japanese college entrance exams so more free time. I think it's also generally accepted that Japanese universities aren't the best despite the difficulty of getting in.
Thoughts on today being the day Ayu gets out of the hospital?
She recovered fast.
Thoughts on Ayu getting her hair braided by Shiori?
Previously hospitalized girls bonding over shared experiences?
Thoughts on Makoto returning?
Honestly kinda made her leaving less impactful if she can choose to visit on occasion.
Thoughts on it being implied Kitagawa and Kaori are in a relationship?
Total tsundere energy from Kaori there. Not too surprising, but is it a good sign if the girl you're going on a date with is scared to admit she's going on a date with you?

She's got friends and confessing probably was what she needed to move on instead of clinging to a hope that wouldn't happen.

I've seen it snow in May where I live, so not too far fetched.

The latest I've seen it snow is late February.

First-timer, subbed
I loved this. I generally don't really expect much when it comes to OVAs but this was a really nice epilogue. Everybody got their moment, some were better than others but everything flowed nicely from where the characters were left off in the last regular episode.
Kaori stonks went way up for me this episode, she was sooo cute <3. Also my favorite fox girl made a return and got to show off her playful side again, can't not love that.
2 questions remain for me amidst all the emotional goodness that we just witnessed:
- what is up with the dandelions from the fox hill turning into snow in the midst of spring? Is this supposed to mean that we're not in the real world? Also Makoto can now see Yuuichi whenever she wants to? How so?
- The hat and bench scene at the end was the same one we already saw before I assume(maybe I'm wrong on that, then the question is irrelevant)....what does that imply for our timeline? Everything we saw in the OVA before the last scene supposedly happened long after the last episode which also contained the bench scene? Not a big deal but that left me confused
All in all, lovely finish. I would be sad that we are about to leave this world and our goofballs in it if not for the upcoming, extended and improved 2006 version :)

I'm sure you already know this, but the 2006 anime doesn't have this epilogue. I believe this is all anime original. As such, it's a nice addition and a great way to close out the series.

Did not know that. Interesting stuff; so we probably will get a more fleshed out version of the original story without the epilogue bits. Gonna be interesting to find out how that makes the ending feel.

I really liked seeing Shiori interact with Ayu in this episode. We didn't really see the girls interact with each other all that much so that was different and a nice change of pace.

So this is the scene before Yuuichi and Ayu meet on the bench in episode 13. I saw Yuuichi and Nayuki reconcile at the swings in the park, Makoto didn't disappear but remembered everything, and Mai and Sayuri supported each other while studying abroad. Everything is wonderful. It knows what I wanted to see, and it shows me where everyone ended up and what their futures hold.

I wish more shows did something like this. I know with Toradora when I get to the ending, I always wonder what happened to the characters afterwards. This gives me some peace of mind.

I remember there was an episode in toradora where they had a competition to make bento, and it started with the Taiga preparing bento for the children.

She didn't make bentos for her children, it was just for Ryuuji. And that was just a brief scene, most of the OVA took place after episode 13.

Go see 00：11.This doesn't explain why the taiga would do 3 bentos.And she is very tall. The opening scene shows them getting ready to go out with their children after their wedding. The following content consists of recollections from their students.

Welcome to the 20th/25th anniversary rewatch of Kanon.
Uguu!
This is a continuation of the Air rewatch and that series celebrating its 20th anniversary last year. Kanon is more known than Air, but obviously not as well known as Clannad, all three of which are visual novels made by Key.
For the purposes of this rewatch, we will be watching both the 2002 series as well as the 2006 series. The 2006 series is considered the better of the two series, but who else is gonna do a rewatch of 2002 Kanon? I’ve actually never seen anything of Kanon so this gives me the chance of contrast them. I know there’s a girl who says Uguu, but other than that I’m going in completely blind.
Maybe this will all lead to the Clannad 20th anniversary rewatch. Don’t hold me on that.
With that out of the way, let’s begin.
I’m watching the sub, by the way.
This is technically the end of the 2002 series as it concerns the OVA. Let's see what it entails.

I do like we're focusing on Nayuki and Yuuichi's relationship here.

Oh, wait. Is thid the end of the last episode recontextualized?
Meanwhile, Makoto plays with the ball with the girl.

And that is how we end things
Overall, this was a nice little addendum. I like that all the characters got a moment to themselves. It was cool to see Mai and Sayuri abroad and also some of the mysterious girl we still don't know much about. I wouldn't necessarily say this is required viewing or anything-- you can watch the last episode and be fine skipping this-- but as a last little salvo of sorts this did its job well.
Now onto the 2006 series...
