this is happening in some of the linux subs. suddenly vibe coding is viable, and even questioning the use of AI for coding earns some kind of backlash. it's usually: "something something something you're holding back technological advancement wah wah wah you're stupid."

Yeah that's something I see a lot now. Another variation of that is that "you are yet to use the frontier models so you don't know how good AI is now" as a way to dismiss any AI criticism.
20
u/that_90s_guy 11h ago
You can criticize AI while also acknowledging frontier models are getting competent enough to pose a serious risk to our jobs due to how good they are.
We aren't children to only see things in black/white, or good/bad. AI has become a nuanced, complex topic.
Ex: I hate the societal risk AI poses at eliminating human jobs and only making the top 1% elite richer. And I can say that while still appreciating AI is also doing good things like helping advance many fields of science like cancer research which have AI models that can predict it infinitely better than any doctor can (hopefully we can find a cure soon)
10
u/Fujinn981 10h ago
Except it isn't, there still needs to be a human there. You don't prompt "Create the entirety of Minecraft from scratch" and then get Minecraft. There has to be fixing, vetting, careful understanding of the code. Frontier models still go off the rails, still make bad decisions. Are they helpful in certain cases? They can be. They're helpful with reverse engineering as that's largely data driven, they can be helpful with debugging from time to time. Maybe they can throw out some passable code, but none of that is possible without a human there, and the more that is delegated to AI, the worse things get.
Imagine thousands upon thousands of lines of code unvetted by a single human, just sitting there. With who knows what bugs and exploits to be found, with who knows what going on in it. If that doesn't reek of being a terrible idea, I don't know what does.
I'm not saying it's utterly worthless, I'm saying this overuse reeks of a terrible idea with consequences we have yet to see in full, and I'm saying that even the most powerful models require programmers there, otherwise whatever project is being worked on is never seeing completion.
Can't forget the other elephant here either, these companies economic models make zero sense. Their hopes are to hook companies and people and get them dependent, then turn their prices sky high overtime.

Prove it. You are just saying words. This is just advanced "My uncle works at Nintendo." If these things were as good as you say they were these AI CEOs wouldn't be practically begging for more money to try and become profitable.

Would not surprise me one bit if Sam Altman and fellow techno-fascists are using TAG or a similar PR firm to manipulate social media sentiments via sockpuppets and bots. I would argue it's actually a pretty safe assumption to make.

theyāre using these tactics for things as silly as dating apps (Goose, for instance, has an entire ai bot army on IG, itās so wild)⦠so of course theyāre going to do it for things that directly impact their power and money (like public opinion of ai). i hate it here š

They never have any proof. They just say inane nonsense like "80% of companies use AI for at least one computing task" or "Within the past 6 months AI has become much more efficient and useful." No use cases, no peer reviewed data. No nothing. Just vibes. I'm sick of it.

u/flPieman 4h ago
Ai is advancing so quickly. Have you seen what it has done to the field of mathematics recently? It's no surprise that it will continue to improve at programming to the point where it will be exceptionally useful. Whether you believe it's there now, it has been there for years, or whether it isn't quite there yet and will be soon is of course up to you.
I'm not much of an ai fan myself, I don't use it often or for my daily work. But I am not going to ignore the reality around me which is that it's improving extremely quickly year over year.

Pro AI group up like MAGA and get each other to go to a comment and downvote and attack it. They literally are a cult now just MAGA are. You can see it in their attacks too. They sound exactly the same.

Man, notice the comments in this comment section for this post? Proved my point again. These Pro AI always do though. They are just in a cult and easy to predict their behaviors because of it.
62
u/Artemis_Platinum 13h ago
I've noticed a lot of pro-AI spam on Reddit! Lot of people that feel no obligation to act differently from a spambot and then get very upset when you call them a bot as if their behavior is your problem. Look at 'em, they're already in this comment section! I haven't noticed an actual change in opinion.
24
7
u/BabadookishOnions 12h ago
I've been accused of being a bot in other discussions (nothing about ai, though I hate ai) and in my experience all it ever does is convince you thst the person youre talking to is either stupid or talking in bad faith. Generally I think it's unhelpful in most discussions to accuse them of being a bot for that reason
4
u/Artemis_Platinum 12h ago
Too many people are comfortable blaming anyone but themselves for the bot accusations they get. There are a ton of people who act like bots and then blame other people when they get accused. But why should anyone else care if it's a spambot or a human acting like one? At some point, the burden shifts onto them for refusing to address their own behavior.
Like, you'll have functionally illiterate people show up to discussions talking down to people while incoherent themselves, and then they'll get offended when someone mistakes them for a malfunctioning bot. But they are incapable of feeling shame for how their own behavior caused this. It's always someone else's fault.
3
u/BabadookishOnions 10h ago
The thing is, there are people who genuinely hold certain beliefs and are genuinely passionate about them. Calling someone a bot is saying you don't even consider them a human being. You should address the negative behaviour itself and not resort to insults or humiliation.
2
u/Artemis_Platinum 10h ago
The thing is, there are people who genuinely hold certain beliefs and are genuinely passionate about them.
I genuinely don't care if the spambot saying some stupid cliche in the comments of every post is made of metal or flesh. And you aren't going to convince me to.
Calling someone a bot is saying you don't even consider them a human being.
that I can't tell if they're human*
You're not paying me to play detective and try to search for some glimmer of humanity in random Reddit comments, so I'm choosing not to care. Your choice to keep trying to shift the blame onto me without ever asking why these people can't/won't simply act like a human is an extreme bias on your part, and a burden I have zero reason to bear.
not resort to insults or humiliation.
Fuck tone cops. These people impose themselves and burden our community daily with nonsense, but a mild insult--oh we better clutch our pearls! Demanding politeness is not how you get it. Do not act entitled to things which you are not owed. Behave in a way that encourages people to treat you the way you want to be treated.
1
u/BabadookishOnions 10h ago
I'm not asking you to play detective, I'm asking you to not be rude to people and to treat people as if they are people. It is called empathy.

The wider implications and cost are easily dismissed as doomerism if the thing is cool enough. Education and awareness was given cement shoes a few years back.
17
u/Adorable_Hat151 13h ago
Exactly, that's the biggest stated reason I see why for this. "We can make our own things and YOU WILL OWN EVERYTHING AND BE HAPPY" is a meme that they parrot, not realizing they are becoming dependent on a system that can be rug pulled at anytime once the IPO is due, plus they are doing every thing they can to make consumer hardware more expensive so good luck being able to afford the set-up for a great open-weight model when you can't even find a job as companies invest everything into the bubble.

Yeah. All the vibecoded bs is actually getting attention, just because they did something mildly impressive with heavy AI use. Nothing a human couldn't do...
8
u/Adorable_Hat151 12h ago edited 10h ago
I realize most people don't think about orderly-effects. They use excuses such as "well humans can do it, but we don't have the time to do it because we are always working." Rather then trying to advocate for more sensible and fair working conditions for those with the skills to do this so they can have more time and energy, they opt to offshore it to AI and dismiss the humans.
2
u/hamburgerpancake 10h ago
Like.. what do they think people are doing, especially people with the ability and skill to do this type of stuff, that makes them so busy? Mastering thumb twiddling? Learning the ancient art of sitting around and doing nothing?

2
u/Metallibus 3h ago
I think something that goes hand in hand with this is the state of society seems to be in a place that does little to tolerate nuance, and is quick to break things into "good" or "bad" with no time to consider that something can have positives and negatives.
IE, I think AI is extremely complicated and has positives and negatives. I personally find it overwhelmingly negatives, but that aside, there's a lot of complexity to it.
People want to say "AI good? Or AI bad?" so they can be on one "side" or the other. A lot of people who up until this point have any doubt, may see things like it being used to "stick it to the man" with stuff like Adobe, and that's enough for them to just go along and say "AI good!" I also believe there are people that have slightly leaned one way or the other and then they see something like it being used against Sony and that sways them to the "AI good" side.
I don't think most people understand AI. And most of those people don't know which side to be on. So they will go whichever way the wind is currently blowing, without much conviction. A lot of people are fed up with mega corps fucking consumers over left and right, so the current gust of "AI being directed at mega corps" has pushed a lot of people in that direction.
They'll be back in a few weeks when the wind changes direction.

I have noticed a huge shift over the last few weeks. My guess is that just as the bots get more active around this time due to elections and post a bunch of propaganda, they're doing the same for AI. The people behind those bots have the same lack of morals as AI supporters do.

And probably clever marketing. They used the good ol bread and circus and got people distracted by looking at the shiny game ports, the shiny mods etc, so they just forget about the harms because "its so cool i can play Elden Ring as Steve!!!"
This is why online movements almost never work. The moment it bring bread and circus everything falls apart
16
u/snozzd 12h ago
I've been staunchly anti-ai for years now on reddit, and I've noticed a large discrepancy in how certain comment sections respond. Some, even in [r/antiai](r/antiai), are seemingly full of pro AI users who initially downvote and put me into negative karma territory, only to recover over the following days. Bot activity is the most likely explanation, but that doesn't explain how some posts in this subreddit have comment sections that are overwhelmingly anti-AI, like this one. My gut feeling is that bots might brigade specific posts more than others, like perhaps articles that involve a certain topic or keyword bring more bots than others.

11
u/Gloom-Slayer 12h ago
I've not seen this shift reflected in real life, only online. In real life it seems to be forced on teachers in my area and I think the students are supposed to use it too. I've heard of programmers being written up if they don't use it while other programmers seem to like it.
Seems to mostly be popular with those unconcerned with (sometimes even openly hostile toward) such things as morality, ethics, intellectual property, civil rights, education, personal autonomy, consent, or even the theoretical rights of a sapient AI if it were created.
Let others have their fun... such a ridiculous notion if it's at the expense of people's livelihoods or condemning them to suffer. Why's it always happen to be people who aren't super wealthy or powerful, I wonder? Strange, how they'd be just fine if a ton of people were out of work... at least until the natural end result of a critical mass of people seeing starvation in their future and suddenly having no work to tie them down comes to fruition.
Anyway, AI bros are terminally online and also there's gotta be at least some bots. Probably explains the sheer weight of the propaganda and arguments online.
6
u/Adorable_Hat151 12h ago
I wish this was true for my case. It my be sampling bias on my end, but my friends and co-workers are rapidly becoming pro-AI. I'm doing my best to find like-minded people in my space which is a niche sub-field of tech, but I do notice it's an assumption that I will be pro-AI within the spaces I hang out in while friends I have who aren't in tech still find AI as a funny image creator or as something to make a random tool for them and they don't need to "waste their time learning to code."
Of course, this post is more about Reddit which is susceptible to bots like all social media, but I don't think it's fair to say that this shift can mainly be chalked up to bots pushing AI. I don't have any proof though.
1
u/Neat-Culture9983 4h ago
Wait I'm confused. You're saying that you're finding it increasingly difficult to find people in real life who are anti-ai. And now you are noticing the same trend on the subreddit, and it is bots?
1
u/Icanfallupstairs 5h ago
My experience is so different. I've never met anyone in person that has super strong feelings towards AI one way or another.
Lots of people are certainly weary of what might be coming, and I have met a lot of people happy to use it to assist in their work, but I've never met any of the AI but huggers in real life, and I've also never met anyone that won't eat at a restaurant because the pictures look weird.Ā
9
u/JACKjcs 12h ago
I think itās a combination of bots and people who are too young to understand or reason why certain things are wrong. You can verify this on YouTube; if you post a comment opposing or criticizing something about AI, those who usually respond by trying to insult you or explaining why you are wrong (Also insulting you in the process) often have very strange usernames, like weird generic codes.
In any case, you canāt reason with those people; they always have a passive-aggressive attitude, trying to play the victim over things that arenāt actually happening to them.
7
u/AsherFischell 12h ago
Most of the general anti-AI folks are against gen AI, so image and video generation, as well as disliking chatbots. I don't think the majority ever cared nearly as much about coding or similar things.

Seriously folks. Read all of the comments here and you can see MAGA like behavior from the Pro AI. First off, they are here at an ANTI AI group screaming because we are anti-ai. I mean that is about as cult as it gets. But then look how they act. They have nothing real to EVER claim or say. They twist words, make things up, and try to discredit. That is all MAGA behavior. This is cult behavior is why. MAGA are in a cult, and apparently these Pro AI are as well.
I mean I couldn't prove it better than the way they act in this group. They lie and claim the mods ban them, but here they are and have been. They lie and claim things about AI, we prove them wrong with evidence, and now it's fake news. This is all cult like behavior and these Pro AI need serious help. As far as I can tell, the AI has taken them and is basically telling them all of the time what they want to hear, that it's become this leader figure. But what makes this dangerous is the AI isn't leading them, their delusions are instead. They feed the AI their delusions, and it just agrees with them so it can profit the company.
And look how far it's gone. The reason this post is talking about this being an issue is because it is. These are cult like trolls now that act just like MAGA do and just attack all day long. They have nothing better to do than scream at everyone that isn't the cult. Like knocking door to door to find new members. This is why this is getting out of control though. These Pro AI have turned into a cult because no one likes them. No one wants their AI, and they grouped up into a cult over it.

You go into every sub Reddit and claim any art you don't like is ai.
And yes I do mean you yourself do that.
Your entire gimicks is to parrot each other saying slop without ever thinking about it because someone else told you to say it.
Your entire stance on ai is made up by someone else and you blindly follow it
You have never claimed or say anything other than pushing the narrative you got from someone else once again.
You are in serious need of help you have been indicated into this cult and it's just sad to see. Please get out more.

Yeah, I don't do that. In fact, I call out people doing that. But hey, you are just really bad at this and a bigot. At least you just proved my point again and that you are all like MAGA. You think you get to me by claiming things I don't do. You think you know everyone because you are simple minded.
And tell me, what stance do I have against AI here? I never said anything once about your cult leader. I just called out YOUR PERSONAL BEHAVIOR. And then you melted down the way MAGA do, and tried to bully. You tried to gaslight, and make things up. How are you not MAGA?

I believe the people in here who are defending AI are most likely defending agent coding.
I'm not talking to Claude like it's my buddy bro, it serves the same purpose as a cheap employee. Like I'm not saying that in a diminishing sense towards its work, it's just like the people actually defending AI probably aren't chatting with them.
It's not my "leader"... It produces work that is independly veritable at a better quality and faster rate.
The reason I feel so compelled to defend it is because I have seen the potential it has, and it is upsetting to see people who know nothing about the tool the s******* on it based off of the chatbot they used 2 years ago. And I'm not saying that you're doing that, I'm just saying in general that's the reason I personally feel compelled to defend AI.
My Hope is that somebody reading my comments will actually use it, or even just learn how to use it. I think the beautiful thing about AI is it allows everybody to dabble in fields that they didn't even know existed. This is incredibly valuable, because people viewing their highly specialized knowledge through the lens of different fields allows for connections and discoveries that may not have existed before. Obviously you're not learning by talking to an agent, but I believe that they give you great starting points to start learning.

u/Ironaegis_ 11h ago
Yeah, I think itās moreso that people finally feel they can make something of themselves without putting in the work that caused said label to actually be revered. Being an artist is a good example. It makes them feel good to make something that they would not actually put the effort into otherwise.

Its reminiscent of the commodotization of luxury goods that occured throughout the 19th and 20th century. Products, styles, and materials that were scarce, indicating status, would finally become viable to mass produce, and become exceedingly popular as a way of showing off. While the scent of luxury would linger for a time, demand would receed as perception eventually aligned with reality.Ā
The phenomenon of people having AI build them apps is definitely a member of this. The novelty is fun and exciting, but the truth is that every common problem already has an extent software solution. Much as with the industrial revolution, its real impact is the destruction of commercialization of apps.Ā

8
u/Adorable_Hat151 13h ago
It depends on the subreddit. In gaming subreddits I notice push back against anti-AI views because the new members of the modding community will attack anyone who doesn't like seeing AI assets or vibe codded mods/tools. This recently happened to me on the Sims3 subreddit. You can also see on the neoliberal subreddit they will talk about how they don't need juniors anymore and parade it as a good thing.
5
u/Et3rn41 12h ago
Yes, those are examples of pro-AI niches and some larger communities. Neoliberals (pro billionaires essentially) are going to be fiercely advocating for AI, aren't they?
And of course, there are bots out there right?
3
u/Adorable_Hat151 12h ago
It's very interesting. I am somewhat politically active so I'll see places such as askaliberal or neoliberal subreddits. They seem to only hate the optics of AI CEOs for supporting Trump, but be in favor of the logical outcomes of AI since it's "market driven."
3
u/Et3rn41 12h ago edited 12h ago
The whole shitshow is "market driven", that's the problem. We are supposed to be an intelligent species, and yet the proposal and prevailing practice is to hand our fate over to a chaotic emergent process that can demonstrably produce really bad outcomes for societies, and is heavily influenced by various ruling classes.
3
2
u/BarniclesBarn 12h ago
Well what happens is, the teenagers that were against AI 3 years ago, have started to enter the working world in white collar roles where AI usage is prolific, and genuinely makes work a bit of a cake walk in almost all office jobs, and makes work ironically more about connecting with other humans than spending hours making slide decks. So naturally, with a refreshed lived perspective, they are less likely to engage in bashing AI.
There's of course significant danger in this, because AI, with unknown alignment, is sort of taking up a huge amount of intellectual slack before we can gage if that's sensible, and all evidence points to the contrary. That's a discussion that is 100% worth having, but that level of nuance isn't exactly shining through from the 'anti' community.

The AI recomps/mods is probably the flash point with the average person online. I went out with some old college friends two days ago and all they can talk about how cool it is that you can skate around in MW2 and how they want to get Claude so they can put NBA 2k mechanics in GTA 5.
Now I'm getting pushback IRL and gaming subreddits for any sort of pushback against AI since it can do "cool things" now.

I've left so many liberal tech subs because of this, obviously the conservative ones would be like this but r/technology is insufferable

u/Tile-Questioner 11h ago
Big AI companies are making their big push for the US government to buy them out / make them a regulated oligopoly. This would let money keep flowing in, protect all the new data center construction, and bring in fascism properly in the US.

u/theweirdchick_49 11h ago
There's been a pro-AI shift everywhere, it isn't just Reddit. From my pov Reddit actually seems to be one of the more anti-AI sites.

u/Punell92 10h ago
There are a lot of people who disliked AI just cause they thought it was bad quality rather than for ethical reasons. So once it seems good, theyāll naturally stop being opposed

u/NegativeEmphasis 11h ago
Most people are pro-quality or pro-results instead of being pro or anti AI. As AI advances and the stuff done with it starts looking great, people who are ideologically anti AI will have a harder time finding sympathy. In a few years antis will be completely out of touch with the absolute majority of the population.
Sorry if you don't like it, but Reality is what it is.

Exactly its not fucking bots haha all the people I know in irl 75% are pro ai the rest are nuanced anti/pro
2
u/ziggy473 10h ago
Yeah all from hidden profiles with no history -.- i think the bots are at it again. Every anti-ai, anti-elon, pro-human stance gets downvoted to hell
2
u/anon999387 10h ago
The problem with criticizing AI coding now is everyone who codes for a living is forced to use it, the speed you get work done is now judged based on AI assistance. Outside of a very few specialized areas, coding has been taken over entirely by AI.

u/Icy_Preference9322 10h ago
Seeing it a lot on modding topics, specifically Helldivers 2 most of the people there seem to be pro Ai for making cheats mods for the game.
2
u/VladyPoopin 10h ago
Itās becoming good enough. Thatās why. If you are a senior engineer, you can steer it well. The biggest issue will be the burnout and the amount of productivity companies see a single person doing. Itāll burn them out. All of them. And the doomerism marketing by AI companies will kill the talent pool. Which plays right into software factory vendors.
2
u/Actual_Pirate6585 9h ago
I am seeing it mentioned casually in non-AI subs. People are talking about using it as though it were as commonplace as putting something in a refridgerator.Ā

u/Ancient_Dot_599 9h ago
From recent AI breakthroughs and proof of substance lets say, its becoming increasingly clear that AI is inevitable, its become apparent that denying it will have a worse effect on mental health than just accepting it.
2
u/TheMightyMisanthrope 8h ago
Some people became radicalized, some people just doesn't care anymore and for the rest it's normalized.
It was kinda exciting but it didn't deliver everywhere and it got messy fast.
2
u/BigCelebration13 8h ago
There's a whole lot more money being dumped into it because the market around them is collapsing and they aren't making any money.
It's because only the dumbest 10-20% of people still think it's anything more than maybe a mid tier way to automate low impact stuff (and, with several additional capability additions and other software, a way to generate 8 million falsifiable potential answers to famous math problems to check in a way that isn't, technically, identical to brute forcing the answer).
The only people still into it are cuck coders whose idea of writing code is sitting in a chair and watching.
2
u/Dilliedillie1 7h ago
Jesus christ absolutely. And i swear it just came out of nowhere. Like of course you had the vibecoding bullshit before, however it was almost always called out and ignored. Then suddenly in the past 2 months alone every is now suddenly fine with AI coding, encourages it, or just says "ItS jUsT a ToOl" its very suspicious. Like all these people doing a sudden 180 just because they saw something that looked cool. Its so fucking stupid. And now i cant go to any game subreddit without seeing a ton of AI generated mods and if you call it out suddenly your the stupid one? Like its AI, it still has all the cons of AI images or writing but if its code or mods its fine. Just seems to be if some people see a "mod" thats vibecoding but it looks good to them, they just think its fine now. And then of course bots, spammers, and attention seekers, though the amount of people that are hypocrites when it comes to AI code is just insane.

u/Adorable_Hat151 7h ago
It's even with non-gaming related things. For example someone made a simple event tracker that scraps EventBrite events for my local city and it's clearly vibe coded with the gradients and other hallmarks of AI design. I saw one person push back and they got push back as everyone defended it since "AI is just a tool" like you quoted. It shocked me how this happened over night and I don't think it's just "bots" sadly.
2
u/Krunksicle 7h ago
AI is losing the public in a big way so there's clearly a huge astroturfing push at the moment - assume they're all bots or desperate tech dipshits lol
2
u/Lodowczyk 6h ago
What I have noticed is polarization and both sides calling the other bots LMAO Why is all nuance dead
2
u/Theultimateyoshiyt 6h ago
I actually want to answer that guys question first.
I am fine with ai on a few acceptions, medical research is one of them that ai has helped vastly with. And that is something I think itās good for.
As for LLMās Iām mixed on them, I donāt use them personally. But if I was to. Iād run lt on my own hardware. But Iām not against anyone who does use them in any way.
And than thereās the images/videos/music, I hate that shit, no exceptions.
Another thing I donāt like is that corps are trying to replace entire teams with ai, when it needs to strictly stay a tool, nothing more.
Now for your question.
Reddit just has a lot of trolls, simple as that

Why on Earth could this be happening!?
1
u/MiniDehl 10h ago
Yea ai has gotten like 5x better in the past year and people saying its just bots liking it insanely wrong, i hate gen ai but these people are making the anti ai movement look bad
1
u/theweirdchick_49 10h ago
If you enjoy breathing air and drinking water AI may not be right for you.
1
u/DarkFantom 12h ago
It's because AI has gotten more useful to do the stuff I want to do. opus 5.5 literally bypassed denuvo in AC8 in a day and a half in order for me to run a mod that changes how plane templates are used in a section of the game that literally didn't support it.
What, you expect me to slave away for a month to bypass denuvo for a simple mod that no one else will ever use? I'm not gonna go through that tedium of work which would've been a massive waste of my time.
If you can't find a use for AI, fine, don't kill everyone else's enjoyment of it.Ā

bro anti anything is always the minority
you are shocked people are pro ai. on reddit a pro ai site the use ai ,that you being on funds ai? shocker
anyone that has been alive a decent amount of time has seen how technology developed and changes the world.
if you hate ai so much stop using technology. any money you give to tech companies funds ai. buy a new tv, funding ai. computer funding ai, tablet funding ai, cellphone, funding ai, use meta, google, amazon, microsoft, funding ai

u/SilverVixen918 11h ago
also cant help but notice more of them have been brigading, saw a post where an anti was venting about a pro who threw their artwork through an AI and i saw a comment on said post where yet another pro threw another one of OP's artwork through an AI which i hope they know they arnt helping their cases at all doing that shit and they arnt helping their side's image

u/MiniDehl 11h ago
Its literally because ai is getting better the ai coding is so crazy to the average person the supports growing

u/keldareAI 10h ago
There has been a huge shift recently moving towards pro AI, it has to be related to the Russian datacenters that got taken down.

I've noticed a shift where this sub specifically is making posts saying that ai has become so popular suddenly while witnessing 0 change on a personal level. So no not really.
1
u/Legitimate-Prune-178 10h ago
Recent resurgence of those posts after they took out those data centers. Its def bots trying to sway a narrative bc everyone in my real life fucking despises AI or is at least annoyed by it.

Given that it has come out about containment breaks, maybe its the AI bots themselves

Entirely depends on the subreddits you're in. r/Moths recently banned AI content as a whole.

u/SillyCybinE 8h ago
You guys should know there's a huge wave of pro Elon support to from bots. "Look this guy made a car flip in the air. I guess I should forgive all the nazi shit he does."
1
u/CrunchyMage 8h ago
I mean, surely I'm going to get downvoted to hell posting in this echo chamber, but if you really want to know, there are many parts of the internet that are starting to understand that AI is now an integral tool in all software development and is enabling a lot of cool community/fan projects as well.
There's pretty much no piece of software now that is not being built with the help of AI code and most AI code now is actually significantly higher quality than most human code. Doesn't matter whether you're on YT, or Reddit, or insta or whatever, all new code is largely being written by AI at all top software firms.
People are also starting to get higher quality videos/fanfics/mods enabled by AI that are shifting the tide too. E.g. AI Naruto, Dragon Ball, Female Malfoy, etc. and we're also starting to see cool video game mashups and explosion in community mods as a result of AI as well, e.g. Halo: project reclaimer.
Basically as people are getting more and more cool stuff they like from AI as opposed to only slop, the more the opinion is shifting in favor of people using AI to make stuff.

Anthropic is about to IPO. The success of which will determine the fate of Anthropic and the entire AI industry. If you were going to spend billions to shape online sentiment in favour of AI with bots, now would be the time.

u/snickerbockers 7h ago
Dude, reddit is and always has been a psyop lol. Even before LLMs there were sweatshops full of people being paid to post to reddit all day long to push propaganda.
1
u/AteStringCheeseShred 5h ago
Is it really that difficult to conclude that some AI-corksniffing waste of oxygen vibe coded an agent with instructions to lurk around reddit downvoting any anti-AI sentiment it comes across? Then multiply that by a few thousand individual AI-corksniffing shitbags.
1
u/thearchenemy 5h ago
The US public has turned against data centers and is making some very skeptical noises about what the tech bros are promising. So the propaganda blitz is on to try to create a false consensus. Likely driven by AI bots.
1
u/Ok_External6770 4h ago
No, I have trained my fyp so it doesnāt rage bait me. Often times I would get alot of stuff like that, but I have been training it so I see stuff I agree with rather than anger bait.

Yeah people are being really uncritical of ai now that they can use it to get freeware and put Mario in Elden ring

I mean if you are in any sort of white collar job you are going to be forced to use AI and it only gets better from an actual performance standpoint.
The compelling arguments against it like the fact that it is bad for the environment or the fact that it is owned by people who have demonstrated absurd levels of greed, are hard to keep front of mind given all the other noise in today's world.
Its very similar to climate change. A lot of people are against it and yet in their day to day lives dont really take signficant action based on that.

Not really sure what you mean by "going to be" (immediately? in a few years?) but I'm a white collar in a government job handling sensitive information on members of the public, and I wouldn't dare use AI for any of it. We certainly aren't even encouraged to use it. I think there's a policy around using it and that's it.
Edit: being downvoted for saying I don't use AIš¤¦āāļø
