After another wave of layoffs management now outnumbers actual workers
We're had two waves of layoffs in the past two months, with no notice each time. Never any management always workers. They did this at the end of the day on a Friday, not even at work. They texted us about an hour after we got home.
Corporate is coming Tuesday, I guess to gut the rest of the building. Everyone left is scrambling to get new jobs because we don't believe for a moment that we're gonna stay open.
The fact the manager who had to get a dozen people to explain she can't chain an emergency exit shut today and has never done any work besides complaining about our work gets to keep her job is insane

Not due to layoffs but attrition of contract workers, a place I worked at ended up with 13 project managers and 3 production staff.

LOL that's funny! Not for the production folk though.

It wasn’t that bad. We leveraged our demand and set things up so the project managers had to book our time. Before, they would dump stuff on us all at the last minute but with the schedule, it got spread out to be manageable.

Perfect, which is the way it should be anyway, also, did they have to do some work? ((Not slanging off the majority of PMs but some of them do 0% of SFA)

Every year they stand outside the triangle shirtwaist factory building, ring a bell for the dead, and raise a fire ladder to how high the ladders of the time could reach.
I'd say make her go and give a presentation when she gets back, but we all know you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them think.

Company’s going under being stripped for parts. Overwork the salaried employees as you eliminate hourly, then fire them. I’ve seen it dozens of times.

Rally the rank and file, unionize and collectively bargain. The hired workers should not be bullied and played for fools. When the fear is put back in management's court, you will have something to bargain with and a level playing field.

I feel like I’m in that situation, recently we had a ton of people quit for obvious reasons (terrible work environment) and I’m literally the only one left on my team with a new manager. I do large long term projects and I currently have four layers of management above me that I have to navigate through before we get anyone able to make a decision. It’s insane.

Chain the exit shut? “Sure thing, boss!”
Then a call to the fire department and let the fire marshal/inspector explain it.
