Nothing wrong with buying a new phone every year either, why should internet strangers care?

No, I don't want a touchscreen MacBook Pro and therefore no one else should be able to buy one!

It’s a little financially irresponsible even for upper middle class people if you’re putting the old one in a shredder or a drawer.

If you’re selling it or doing one of Apple’s lease programs, it’s a totally reasonable decision.

I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t sell the old one. If you go with a base storage of whatever model you can sell your old one and upgrade for a couple hundred out of pocket every year. People pay that going out for an evening with friends.

There are people who spend hundreds a month on stupid shit like DoorDash and Starbucks

A phone once a year is nothing

Some of us have families and phones make their way through 6-8 people over 5 years.

People are just commenting on the wastefulness and blatant consumerism of it. Rich people spend their money flying private jets everywhere too, doesn’t mean it can’t be criticized.
