Maps not updating my position until driving for a while

This just started happening to me randomly. Whenever I use Apple Maps and start the gps to somewhere my location will jump around all over the place. Showing my car over houses or in parks nearby. After driving for a couple minutes it snaps to the correct place and works fine. But that makes it completely useless for the first 2 minutes of driving. Which really sucks when leaving somewhere I’ve never been or going somewhere new. I tried just sitting in the car for a few minutes before leaving but that doesn’t do anything. I have to be actively driving.

Anyone else have this problem before?

It’s conflicting with the car’s gaps/compass most likely.

Make sure your car’s compass/gpa is calibrated on the car’s menu for your location.

Hard restart….

In quick succession; up volume, down volume, hold down the home button until the Apple logo appears, release and let it restart.

Ok I did it. I’ll have to see if it worked next time I drive.

Yup. Good luck. I wrote about my experiences in another post. This is a known issue to Apple and they can’t figure it out. Please submit your case to Apple so it’s logged. They should be doing more to fix it.
