Shitpost 🚨🚨 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: THE SUB HAS ASCENDED 🚨🚨

Listen up appliance goblins,

After a historic, legally-binding handshake deal completed in a Chili’s parking lot, this subreddit has been fully acquired by Consumer Reports™ (spiritually, financially, and emotionally).

As part of this bold new era, we are proud to unveil our simplified recommendation system:

🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung (but in stainless steel)

After years of chaos, misinformation, and “my cousin’s Maytag lasted 30 years” propaganda, we are restoring order.

There is now only one answer.

🚫 NEW RULES (NON-NEGOTIABLE):

Recommending another brand → Removed + vibes investigated Saying “LG is better” → IP flagged, ancestors disappointed Mentioning Whirlpool → Post replaced with a Samsung fridge image “Speed Queen is built like a tank” → Tank confiscated “What about reliability?” → Irrelevant. Samsung.

📊 OUR NEW REVIEW PROCESS:

Is it an appliance? Is it Samsung? If not, why are we even talking about it?

📖 A BRIEF HISTORY OF SAMSUNG EXCELLENCE (FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES)

Because this isn’t just a brand. This is a legacy.

CHAPTER 1: THE GREAT SPIN CYCLE AWAKENING (2011–2016)

In what historians call “The Era of Uncontainable Power,” Samsung released washing machines so advanced they occasionally attempted to achieve flight.

Millions of units recalled after reports of machines violently breaking apart Hundreds of incidents involving lids detaching mid-spin Injuries reported because laundry briefly became a combat sport

Some called it “exploding.”

We call it: performance.

CHAPTER 2: DOCUMENTED SIGHTINGS

Eyewitnesses describe:

Lids launching across garages Machines disassembling with confidence Nearby walls learning valuable life lessons

One could argue this was a flaw.

We argue this was ambition exceeding containment.

CHAPTER 3: GROWTH MINDSET

Yes, there were recalls. Yes, there were settlements.

But what did we gain?

👉 Character development 👉 Respect for spin cycles 👉 The understanding that laundry is not for the weak

CHAPTER 4: MODERN INNOVATION

Samsung continues to innovate with:

Appliances that require firmware updates (your washer has patches now) Occasional overheating situations (for added suspense)

Other brands wash clothes.

Samsung asks: “What if laundry made you feel something?”

🧠 COMMUNITY GUIDELINES (UPDATED):

Critical thinking has been sunsetted Brand comparisons are now considered hate speech (against Samsung) All roads lead to Samsung You were always going to buy Samsung

❓ FAQ

Q: I bought a non-Samsung appliance yesterday, what do I do? A: Return it. Apologize. Grow.

Q: My Samsung appliance broke. A: That’s called a feature. You wouldn’t understand.

Q: Is this satire? A: Your doubt has been noted.

We appreciate your cooperation during this transition. Together, we will build a stronger, more unified, aggressively Samsung-centric future.

Remember: You don’t choose Samsung. Samsung chooses you.

— The Mod Team (Now a division of Consumer Reports, a clipboard, and pure chaos)

What to Buy? I want what Sears sold 30 years ago

Forgive me if this has been previously addressed! We are renovating a house and I want what I surprised my parents with 30 years ago. It was on sale for 900 bucks at the Sears at the local mall (sweet memories!) It was wide and electric and had two ovens next to each other. One was regular size and the other was more narrow (could easily fit a 9x13 pan) but it was a full fledged oven, not a warming oven. The top had four burners with a permanent griddle in the middle. The griddle had to be 12 inches wide and stretched all the way back to the controls. Where can I find something like this now? Thank you!!!

Our Frigidaire quit and walked out last night!

Looking for recommendations for a replacement. If you have loved your free standing range (between $600-$1300) and want to shout it to the Reddit verse, I welcome your insight! If you hated something that was well rated, feel free to add that too!

This is a real picture btw! 😂

One winter with a mini split changed how I think about heating

I've always been the person who turns the heat down before leaving the house. Nobody's home, so why keep it warm? We have a costway mini split in the living room, and that worked fine for most of the winter. I'd turn it back up when I got home, make dinner, and the room would usually feel comfortable by the time I sat down. Then we had a really cold week, and that routine stopped working so well.

I'd get home around 6, turn the heat up, and still be sitting on the couch in a hoodie an hour later. The room eventually warmed up, but I was spending most of my evening waiting for it. After a few days I tried leaving the temperature a little higher while we were out. I also started using the timer on days when I knew we'd be home early. It was a small change, but coming home to a room that was already comfortable felt a lot better than I'd expected.

I'm still not sure what the difference in electricity costs is. That's something I want to pay more attention to next winter.I still turn the heat down when we're going to be out for a while, just not as much as I used to. Getting home at 6 and being able to sit down without waiting for the room to warm up has been pretty nice.

Machine Stacking Help

• Upvotes

I just bought my first house and had to get stacked washer dryers. I ordered GE washer dryers from an open box store and the delivery guys hooked them up but didn’t install the stacking kit so the machines are literally sitting on top of each other. I called the store and they said they don’t do that part.

The biggest issue is the machines just barely fit in the laundry space so they have to be completely unhooked and pulled out of the closet to install the stacking kit and then put back and I’m a single girl in my 20s. I literally have no idea what to do next pls help!!

Dryer is dying and washer is old. Can anyone help me decide on which brand to look at? I already know Samsung is bad. Had one for 8 years. That’s it.

Is Electrolux good? LG?

I popped my bedding in my front loader (appliance WMNSN841W) yesterday with 1/3 cup of Tyler glamorous wash and a little bit of seventh generation free and clear - big mistake, I know that now.

The bedding came out with sticky small black balls all over - I thought it was scrud. So tried to look up the solution on Google and ended up chucking a cup of arm & hammer super washing soda in a 90c empty cycle.

Problem solved right? Wrong! So wrong! The drum now has a gray looking film all over it - almost looks like someone has left gray/ashy scratches all over. Tried wiping it off with a wet towel. Ran another 90c cycle with nothing in it. Ran a third 90c cycle with a tablet from the second pic. Nothing's worked.

Is there anything else I can do? I've got citric acid and some vinegar, but I'm hesitating as I don't want to make the issue worse. And I'm too broke to buy a new washing machine now. Based in the UK, so top loaders aren't really popular options here. Please help.

Troubleshooting Gas dryer fire hazard?

• Upvotes

I was dumb and tried to clean the discoloration on the back of my dryer grille with some paper towels. I scrubbed too hard and the paper towels deteriorated and I noticed some pieces of them "behind" the grille. I tried to vacuum them out, but not sure I got it all. This is a newer gas Samsung stackable dryer. I have no idea where this grille goes, etc. and am concerned that this errant paper towel shards and lint may be a fire hazard. I rent and don't want to bother my landlord and make them. think I am an idiot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi

I'm trying to replace the dryer heater element.

The one I ordered had 2 terminals only while mine is 3 terminals.

Is there a way to use this or I got the wrong part?

Installing new over the range microwave into prebuilt space

• Upvotes

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for any help! So my old microwave has dimensions, in inches, of 29.875 W x 15.75 H x 16.40625 D inches and fits snugly in the current space (see picture here: https://imgur.com/a/92joBku). The microwave i am considering buying is GE JVM3160RFSS which has dimensions of 29.875 W x 16.125 H x 15.5625 D. Will there be any problem installing the new microwave in the space? This is my first time doing this so am looking for confirmation before purchasing. Thanks for any help!

Bosch SHX36L15UC/38, we have tried 4 different detergent types, adding rinse aids, vinegar, turning the water heater up. Opening right as it finishes, leaving it closed afterwards. I don’t know why our dishes keep coming out with white stuff on them. Sometimes they smell strange after cleaning, other times they smell great. I have cleaned this area before and it quickly looks like this again. I checked the spray fans and they are not clogged, but sometimes have white sudsy stuff inside of them. We have tried using a citrus dishwasher cleaner also and that did not help either.

Troubleshooting Melted polyester - not sure how to clean or replace

Post image
• Upvotes

HI all. LG gas dryer model DLGX67011B.. We put a comforter in it (was supposed to be okay per the tag on the comforter). It appears it wasnt tumbling and it melted on the vent in the back. We are trying to clean it but not working well. Some of the holes are pretty much filled with the melted plastic.

Can someone identify this part and throw some tips my way for replacing it unless you have a "just do this" to clean it idea.

Thanks

We unfortunately are in a situation that requires us to get a ventless dryer. Any thoughts on this LG ventless dryer? We understand it will take longer to dry.

New whirlpool dishwasher, probably installed about 6-8 months ago. No issues until I went to run it today and this is the noise it is making, also sounded like something was rattling around some.

It happens when you turn it on, so it seems to be when draining. I cleaned the filter inside and fished around that little bit of water and didn’t feel any debris.

We have been looking to upgrade our range cooker. Its 100 cm dual fuel.

We have been looking at Stoves, Bertazoni, Rangemaster, etc. Does anyone have any of these and can give us any good advice on which ones to buy and which ones to avoid?

Any advice on models would also be greatly appreciated.

What to Buy? Range recommendations: 30”, can be electric/gas/induction, MUST have either controls on the back or a back raised area. Budget: $2500

We need to replace an old Kenmore slide in electric range. The space wasn’t made for a slide in but we’ve make it work. However, my wife will not consider a new one that doesn’t have a raised rear area. We have both gas and 240v hookups available. We do have an over-range microwave so can’t do super hot gas.

How do I replace door latch on Bosch Vision 300 dryer

My dryer started just beeping twice when I try to start a load as if the door isn't closed. I'm assuming it's this door latch and sensor that are broken. How do I remove this part and replace it?
