4 years ago me and my wife bought a new washing machine: an Asko W4096R.W/2. It wasn't cheap, but we were hoping to use it for the coming 20 years, were attracted by its premium functions (autodose, steam mode).
However, after a while, we starting noticing that the machine damages our clothes. Especially lightweight fabrics (t-shirts, bed sheets, jeans pockets), even when they are new and of good quality. As a precaution, we started to put basically everything in laundry bags. It spares us from damage, but frequently causes an unbalance error during spinning. Sometimes, this error can only be solved by taking some of the clothes out of the bags for the spin cycle, but that leads to damage. It makes doing laundry a pain in the ass.
We checked the drum for anything sharp that may be the cause of this, even with a magnet, but found nothing. Since the machine is still under warranty, we had a service mechanic over to check, but he could not find anything wrong either. His conclusion was that our machine is working fine, his only remark was that we should not use so many laundry bags during spinning, so it stays balanced. Alright, but that leads to damaged clothes...
We are getting desperate by this and are thinking about getting another machine. However, replacing such an expensive machine after just 4 years does not feel right. What if the solution is just something we've overlooked so far? Or what if somehow there is an external cause and another machine may not fix it?
On top of that: our current budget does not allow us to buy a similar premium brand, so the new machine will be a downgrade.
Any ideas/advice?
EDIT: the damage I'm speaking of is: small holes/tears in clothes. We are washing in accordance with the instructions on thr label: correct temperature, max 1000-1200 rpm spin cycle, appropriate detergents via autodose
