Political Question Are Republicans inherently selfish?

Not referring to every individual obviously but as a whole, compared to democrats/independents they seem to really only care about themselves or their immediate family and pretty much have a “f**k em” attitude towards literally everyone else. Does anyone else feel this way?

This would explain why so many are against social policies but have no issue dumping much more money into the military instead, for example.

Republicans donate more money to charity than Democrats

1) Doubt that 2) Republicans are the reason charity is needed

Charities are way more efficient at helping people than the government is.

The government sucks at spending your taxdollars. If you haven't been paying attention. Almost every major government program is rife with fraud. To the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars, possibly in the trillions.

Factually untrue. How many people do charities feed? Food stamps alone feeds 42.1 million people.

In fact it’s Republican policies that caused 12% of our country to be on fucking food stamps

I said more efficient. As in they can make $1 go further and to the right person.

Not that they cover more people?

Charities also have operating costs, and if charity were sufficient to address the problem, we wouldn’t need food stamps for 12% of the country.

I can’t be bothered to do the math on whether tax funded programs or charities operate at lower cost because it’s really irrelevant, charity is demonstrably insufficient.

charities are nit even remotely more effective at helping people. charities are mostly clustered in major population centers, and rarely reach the rural areas with desperate poverty full of ungrateful republicans on welfare whining about blue state tax dollars going to people they don’t like. The govt has far more r reach and far better information about who needs help, but it’s handicapped by the aforementioned morons who don‘t want my tax dollars going to anyone else.

That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. You've clearly never heard of EBT. And, what about the USAID program (Before Musk and DOGE Raped it to death).

Do you understand what efficient means?

What part of my comment is the "dumbest shit"?

The fact that none of what you said is true. Charities have TONS of overhead and operating costs. And most of the corruption is Republicans pocketing the cash.

Charities are way more efficient at helping people than the government is.

If that were true then government wouldn't have had to step in.

Almost every major government program is rife with fraud

And yet no definitive proof of this fraud is ever presented.

Charities in the US almost always have strings attached. Especially “Christian” ones. And having worked in non profits for years, are definitely not efficient at it in most cases.

Now having moved to Canada and having needed to take advantage of government services to escape family violence in the states, it’s not even remotely as efficient as it is here. Not even close.

100% Charity belongs with the church, not the government.

That's an idiot take

1

u/OkLetterhead8395 4h ago

why is that?

1

u/Nitrofox2 4h ago

Because helping people shouldn't rely on religious belief

1

u/OkLetterhead8395 3h ago

churches don't discriminate who they donate too....

1

u/Nitrofox2 3h ago

Oh yes they do

1

u/Orthos_ate_my_chair 3h ago

And had the churches been doing their jobs, government safety nets wouldn't have been needed.

1

u/OkLetterhead8395 3h ago

where is your evidence to this?

Any history book.

The US government isn't proactive; it's reactionary. Social safety nets were put in place because there were more needy people than the churches were willing to help.

Had the churches been helping enough, those social safety nets wouldn't have been needed.
