Political Question Are Republicans inherently selfish?

Not referring to every individual obviously but as a whole, compared to democrats/independents they seem to really only care about themselves or their immediate family and pretty much have a “f**k em” attitude towards literally everyone else. Does anyone else feel this way?

This would explain why so many are against social policies but have no issue dumping much more money into the military instead, for example.

Is it not also selfish to demand other people’s hard earned money be given to you just for existing without working for it?

If you ever become too ill to work we're fine to just leave you in the ditch to die, right?

Not at all. That’s why we already have short and long term disability insurance that you individually pay into over the course of your career. I take more issue with unemployed able bodied people demanding handouts and refusing to go actually work for their keep. Those handouts come from others that actually do earn their keep not just the government

How big of a problem do you think it is?

All studies show that only around 1% of working age population is long term unemployed. Amongst those many have undiagnosed mental or physical conditions, some have caring responsibilities, there may be some that are trying to pursue a business idea or an art project.

There's basically no healthy people refusing to engage in productive endeavours but the far right has everone supper angry about this imaginary legion of people living off their taxes. Particularly people who are likely to be net loss to the budget.

Considering the majority of welfare recipients are in red states

This isn’t entirely correct

I said nothing about red or blue here? Not sure what your point is here?

The entire post is about the red attitude towards being selfish and you questioned an inherent red mentality….

That isn't even true: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/mapped-u-s-households-on-welfare-by-state/

The states with the highest amount of welfare recipients per capita, are blue. The states with the lowest amount of welfare recipients per capita are red. Your statement was the literal opposite of the truth.

That’s not accounting for population

Welcome to the true irony of maga

Don’t like welfare until they need it

Regardless of the party, someone demanding a handout just for existing, I’m against. Republican or democrat. Socialism is not great. I support moderate democrats and moderate conservatives. MAGA and Democratic socialists suck equally on this.

Actual democrats and republicans would be elected ideally and congress would be purple forcing actual debate and good policy. No radical crap
