Political Question Are Republicans inherently selfish?

Not referring to every individual obviously but as a whole, compared to democrats/independents they seem to really only care about themselves or their immediate family and pretty much have a “f**k em” attitude towards literally everyone else. Does anyone else feel this way?

This would explain why so many are against social policies but have no issue dumping much more money into the military instead, for example.

My own biases aside, literally yes.

Conservative policy tends to focus on the voters own short-term self interests: lower taxes, anti-gun control (don't want their firearms taken), anti-public transit (they're mostly car drivers), anti-DEI (as they tend to be white men), anti-social issues that they can't personally relate with.

Whereas left of centre ideologies tend to focus on the well-being of the collective and a focus on equity over strict equality.

It is the opposite of that.

Leftists just want the short term feel good moments without caring about the long term consequences.

Those on the right look at those same feel good moments and see socialism driving taxes up, which also drives the cost of living up, while their limitless immigration policy drives wages down, and drives the cost of living up even more.

It might feel good in the moment to give yourself that pat on the back but in the long term it hurts everyone. Especially those people you are patting yourself on the back over.

Yeah but it’s funny because now taxes are at their highest, home prices are at their highest, education and food is at their highest, at this point they’re just trying to preserve white supremacy because it’s all they have left.

We literally pay taxes on the loans we take for eduction, our properties, everything we buy, all of our transactions, the list goes on and on do you not live here lol

I was looking for clarity. While regressive taxtes, transactional taxes are very high, marginal taxes are lower at the top then they have been in a long time. Also wage growth has not kept up with inflation and wealth distribution has gotten pointier, so unless you are wealthy, everything has gotten disproportionately more expensive. If we changes the way we tax wealth it could reduce the burden on the bottom 90% of the pyramid. And I completely agree that sales tax and similar taxes are a poor tax.

Because countries prosper when the poorest of the poor can prosper and Republicans will never be able to wrap their minds around that.
