The Iraq and Afghanistan Wars killed far more innocent people than anything Trump has done. You are entirely wrong.

u/Big_Humor1558 1h ago
Are you factoring in all of the people killed by Covid because of his shitty handling of the crisis? I've seen estimates as high as 400,000 additional American deaths because "It's just going to disappear"

Trump's cabinet picks are complete idiots. But the people working behind the scenes on project 2025 are as smart as they are horrible.

Bush is also a criminal and trump is also an idiot, and they also both had idiots and criminals in their admins. Trumps just more brazen about it.
4
u/Living_Week9080 2h ago
Don’t forget W gave us Alito and Roberts. Mf’s dad gave us Thomas. Fuck the Bush family to eternity.
4
u/Coneskater 1h ago
Trump as a person is far worse but he’s ironically saved by his own incompetence.
Half of the shit he tries to do fails due to the absolute morons working in his administration.
The Bush people were evil AND competent.
4
u/WhiskeyDeltaBravo1 1h ago
I think W is at heart a decent human being who was used as a puppet by evil sons of bitches (Dick Cheney, et al) for their personal gain. He’s not the brightest and a bit naive, so they used that to their advantage.
Trump is just a piece of shit.
5
3
u/Fun_Researcher_69420 1h ago
I think Bush was smarter than we gave him credit for, but Cheney etc played him easily. If he had non-evil advisors it might have been so different.
3
u/Shington501 2h ago
Bush was less annoying, but way more destructive. They are both the same clepto class working for global defense and banking. Time will tell on trumps total damage
3
u/Ok_Confidence9059 2h ago
Bush got many thousands killed, implemented and defended war crimes like gruesome torture “advanced interrogation techniques”, launched us into the 2008 Great Recession. Genuinely awful President. Just because Trump is awful doesn’t mean we should think more highly of the war criminal bush
3
u/Penguinshead 2h ago
This is like tasting different pieces of shit.
And for the record, Obama was the most presidential, but nevertheless a piece of shit too.

3
u/Oily-Plaid-4129 2h ago
W paved the way for Trump.
He turned us into a one party state, normalized lying and added John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. He chose loyal aids rather than competent ones. He gave rise to a deeply invasive and racist federal police force. He alienated our long-time allies. He created massive unprecedented deficits while opening the Treasury's doors to his rich friends. He ultimately crashed our economy with his incompetent policies.
He's symbolic of loyalty to party over country and the advent of GOP cultlike sycophancy.
He rolled out the red carpet for the orange trash.
3
3
4
u/ImHappy_DamnHappy 2h ago
Objectively I disagree. The pointless wars and the suffering, financial issues, and violations of privacy that W put us through are way worse than anything Trump has done. 21 Americans have died with the Iran conflict. Under Bush there were thousands, not the mention those wounded.

After the Bush/Obama wars and torture, the Biden/Trump admins have been a breath of fresh air TBH
2
u/CastleNorsk 2h ago
Lets not forget George Bush oversaw the Iraq and Afghanistan war which has led to the death of over 2,000,000 civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan - not to mention he is the one who encoded and enshrined permanent tax cuts to the rich and oversaw the financial collapse of the 2000s.
Trump don't get me wrong is a bad president - but lets not pretend now that George Bush isn't a war criminal in his own right, worthy of a Hague sentencing and a firing squad.

That was an illegal war prosecuted on lies.
Destabilized the region.
W was actually really bad. But yes Trump is even worse. What comes next?
2
u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 1h ago
It's two different flavors of diarrhea to me. Why isn't GWB doing anything or speaking up today? His VP did before passing. Cheney left on the high road over GWB. This is their Republican Party, too. George is a coward. If he came out against everything the current GOP is doing and stands for, it would work wonders on the Baby Boomers in the midterms. But nah, what a puss. Spineless like all Republican-voting and enabling conservatives. The country's on fire, they installed the source and watch us burn.

I’m not American but from an outside observation, the legislation after 9/11 (was it the patriot act?) opened the door to a lot of what you’re seeing now. If you’re giving bush the benefit of the doubt, you could argue it’s inadvertent but plenty of Americans raised serious concerns at the time. He left office with America still looking strong though so there is that.
5
u/Hefty_Palpitation437 1h ago
Strong? Bush left with the worst recession in 80 years, gave trillions to big banks while the unemployed suffered. By far the worst unemployment was under bush. I lived and worked in this barely scraping by with rice and beans, beans and rice
4
u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 1h ago
GWB left office with the lowest approval rating in POTUS history, an economy losing 100,000+ jobs weekly, the Too Big To Fail banks collapsing the global economy, and a record budget deficit that had exploded out of control on his watch. Every Republican president after Eisenhower leaves the American economy in shambles. Every. Single. One.
What are you saying??
2
3
u/Cweezy91 2h ago
Man many many more Americans died under bush. I mean substantially more.
The economy was also worse under Bush.
I don’t like orange man…..but let’s be realistic here. One hurts feelings and says dumb shit while the other actively killed our sons, brothers, fathers, daughters and mothers.
1
u/Sad_Mall_3349 2h ago
Was living for people under Bush better or worse than now?
Great "Economy" does not make lives better for the average citizens1
u/DizzyMajor5 1h ago
I was a kid but it depends a lot. The Iraq war lead to a lot of suffering. The war on terror caused a lot of innocent people to get swept up. The 08 recession still effects us to this day we've under built for a decade because of it and home prices are out of control.
1
u/scoobysi 2h ago
If that’s the only factor to judge surely ww2 prez would be worse?
The rest of the world saw bush as dumb but not overtly a downgrade for the usa as a superpower, trump has turned the world off believe anything the usa has historically offered as a power. It is harsh for me to talk about economics rather than your point about direct loss of service personnel BUT your reduction in global power is likely to cost way more, including lives, in the longer term.
Good luck to us all, apart from the orange twat et al

The whitewashing of George W. Bush into some kind of respectable statesman will always be one of the most fucking infuriating things of my life.
The fact that none of you connect the dots here is the second most infuriating.
Without Dubya, Trump would NEVER have been able to get away with a tenth of the shit he has been able to.
Unitary executive authority started with him. He's the decider. A million Iraqis dead, all on a lie. The packing of an already corrupt Supreme Court (look up Bush v. Gore). Dick Cheney, a vice president so corrupt that he got rich working for Halliburton, and continued to do their bidding while he was there. Karl Fucking Rove, a master propagandist that puts Steves Bannon and Miller to shame.
Have none of you kids ever heard about the Project for a New American Century? You've all heard of Project 2025. PNAC is way worse, especially since the War on Terror is still with us to this day. Look it up. Learn some fucking HISTORY.
Trump didn't just come out of nowhere. The framework for his type of petty despotism has been here for literal DECADES. The system is the problem. All it needs is a useful idiot to take the reins.
Trump is nothing without Bush. I swear, twenty years from now, you all will be missing the salad days of Trump's presidency, while bitching about the new Republican dictator.
"We didn't know how good we had it, back when Trump was president. I, a liberal, would vote for Trump over THAT guy!"
That's what you sound like when you call Trump WAY worse than Bush. But until then, keep voting for your Clintons and your Obamas and your Bidens. I'm sure they'll restore our democracy SOMEDAY.
→ More replies (2)1
u/korpiz 49m ago
Yes, I’ll keep voting for whichever candidate the democrats come up with, but, that’s only because no credible third party candidate has ever come up. Unfortunately, without MAJOR change, we are stuck with the current two party system, and those two parties have and will use all the money and power at their disposal to keep it that way.
3
u/AlwaysOptimism 2h ago
The hate GW as “worst president ever” was nonsense. The early onset of cynical social media grasped onto every misspeak of someone speaking hours a day and placed all the blame on him for the entire western worlds drive to invade the Mideast.
Trump on the other hand is a divisive, petty, insecure, self-dealing monster.
I look forward to him being out of my life forever. I just wish the rest of you had enough discipline to not listen to or comment about a word he says once he’s out of office so I never have to think of him again.

Bush didn't take his idiocy out on his own country (aside from 9/11 Dick Cheney and Enron and all that biz) We all had it pretty well, all things considered.
Trump is just dismantling the nation through grifts/scams/hate meanwhile enriching himself and his family, he's created a cult of loyalists that will rather see the end times than a return to anything normal.
If Bush was shit, Trump is the run off that we all have to drink.

Bush might have outwardly to the public had an "aw shucks" persona, but he was fucking evil.
From: "Devil May Care" by Tucker Carlson, Talk Magazine, September 1999, p. 106
"Bush's brand of forthright tough-guy populism can be appealing, and it has played well in Texas. Yet occasionally there are flashes of meanness visible beneath it.
While driving back from the speech later that day, Bush mentions Karla Faye Tucker, a double murderer who was executed in Texas last year. In the weeks before the execution, Bush says, Bianca Jagger and a number of other protesters came to Austin to demand clemency for Tucker. 'Did you meet with any of them?' I ask.
Bush whips around and stares at me. 'No, I didn't meet with any of them,' he snaps, as though I've just asked the dumbest, most offensive question ever posed. 'I didn't meet with Larry King either when he came down for it. I watched his interview with, though. He asked her real difficult questions, like 'What would you say to Governor Bush?' 'What was her answer?' I wonder.
'Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, 'don't kill me.'
I must look shocked -- ridiculing the pleas of a condemned prisoner who has since been executed seems odd and cruel, even for someone as militantly anticrime as Bush -- because he immediately stops smirking.
'It's tough stuff,' Bush says, suddenly somber, 'but my job is to enforce the law.' As it turns out, the Larry King-Karla Faye Tucker exchange Bush recounted never took place, at least not on television. During her interview with King, however, Tucker did imply that Bush was succumbing to election-year pressure from pro-death penalty voters. Apparently Bush never forgot it. He has a long memory for slights."

As a president, W Bush was not very good. He deceived the American people by leading the US into war with Iraq. This is the biggest blunder of the 20th century by the US imho. Thousands of US soldiers died, tens of thousands of Iraqis perished, billions squandered, and the conflict was unrelated to 9/11. The occupation of Iraq did not or make the United States more secure.
Trumps conflict in Iran is bad, but I would argue it pales in comparison to the quagmire that was the Iraq war, at least so far.
Domestically, trump has caused enormous grift personally and sped up the redistribution of wealth from poor and middle to wealthy through tax cuts.
Bush is less personally distasteful when it comes to character and conduct.
BUT, leave no child behind, the patriot act, cemented into law more long lasting negative effects onto the United States, when compared to Trump’s executive orders and few real policy accomplishments, ie the tax break.
So I think Bush was worse because I’m still convinced MAGA will die with trump and boring evil republicans will take his place.
