General Question What is it called when you have different versions of yourself that make up your whole self?
Not DID. I’m fairly certain this is a universal human experience.
A brief explanation of what I’m trying to convey: The you that might hang with friends may be different than the you that hangs out with close friends and family. And that version of you may be different than who you are alone. And that version may have its own individualized bits too! Like, you might have a grand interest in long, detailed video essays about human psychology but another “part” of you might be more interested in watching skeletons run around a Christmas tree. And another “part” of you might just hate YouTube all together!
They’re not so much individualized people sharing one headspace. Rather it’s more like multiple facets of yourself that can be range from similarly angled to completely contradictory. The different parts of us that make us complex, round characters.
Not DID, but I don’t think it’s as simple as just being “emotions”. Like the human conscience being constructed out of multiple different concepts and ideas that construct a whole identity.
Hope I explained this all well enough, let em know about any questions you may have or if I should elaborate/explain something better

That's just being a normal human. Everyone acts differently at work vs with close friends vs alone etc. Depending on context "cultural code switching" may also apply.

Porous self and buffered self, that allows you to do bad whilst divorcing the bad from your sense of self to stop you thinking that you're bad.
It's ego compartmentalisation that allows people to preserve a sense of self divorced from your day to day actions.

I think what you're describing is just the normal human experience of having different social masks or roles. We all adapt depending on the situation and the people around us, it's not like we're different persons but the context bring out certain aspects more than others
I have this too, like at work I am one way, with my beatmaking friends another, and then when I'm deep into watching Ben 10 episodes alone it's a whole different mood. the psychologist Carl Jung called these "personas" I think, the faces we show to the world. but underneath all those layers there is still one you, just a complex one
what trips me is when two of these versions clash, like when you try to explain your weird youtube rabbit holes to a coworker and realize how different those parts of you are

I’ve been feeling that last part about said personas “clashing” a lot lately. It’s actually what inspired me to make this post.

According to the Buddha there is no you. You’re just a compilation of Ultimate Realities. A compendium of aggregates that constantly change. There is no thinker.Just thinking. All driven forward by the life force. You aren’t. It’s that simple.

Garden variety and totally normal multi-faceted aspects of humanity.
