Meta Struggling

Any other car salesmen struggling this month? I was a product specialist from October 2025 to May 2026 and started sales in June. Crushed june with 17 cars, did 10 in July with a week off work, 11 in august and 13 last month. Now im at 2 this month and for the life of me just cannot get any sales going. I feel like im doing something wrong all of a sudden. Anyone else having this experience?

tale as old as time man - you got too smart and you started judging people, brooming them, cutting corners, not TOing every deal, skipping steps in the sales process, etc, etc, etc,

I dont feel like im doing anything different from prior months though... I try to work everything to death now matter the customer but lately it seems as though I get a lot of customers that says that they need to think about it, talk to the wife, etc. Ive always had great rapport with my customers. I just dont get it. I do appreciate the input though, I need all the advice I can get.

It’s always slow this time of year. You’ll learn the cycles of this business. Some months are notoriously slow, and some are known to be heavy hitters. Stick to the process, treat every customer like a sale and you’ll make the rebound

My biggest piece of advice is to not get in your head about it. Don’t look at where your fellow salespeople are compared to you. That was my biggest obstacle to overcome. You don’t realize it, but if you start allowing yourself to stress about it, it changes the way you sell. I started this week with 0.5 car out, and now I’m at 7.5 with two more guaranteed deliveries tomorrow. I average 20/month. Don’t stress about it, do what you always do, and your month will come together. This is something I wish I would’ve learned much earlier on, and I’m 10 years into it now. You’re still a green pea with what sounds like a lot of potential to grow. Keep pressing on.

It’s the slow season, October isn’t known typically as a big sales month.

How are you stacking up against the other salespeople? Are everyone’s numbers down or just you? Did you have a pipeline when you started,? Then were to busy to work lead, and now that shit is dried up?

Half the month left, still plenty of time.

I find this time of year to be pretty slow typically. Everyone is back to school, back from summer vacation, starting to think about holidays, etc. Not abnormal to see a lull in sales in the fall compared to the summer.

Plus we've got this whole Iran war thing and nobody feels good about the economy. So that's absolutely a factor too.

Yeah I know its just stressful. Even the customers I get it cant seem to close or keep them in the show room long enough to reach an agreement. Many seem to want to leave after first pencil so now im trying to fight to keep it alive and keep them in the show room if that's makes sense.

Yeah they're shoppers. Your follow up game needs to be really good and you need to give them a reason other than price to come back to you, which is counter-intuitive but if you have a customer splitting hairs on two cars at your dealership and another dealership, you need to be the reason they come back to buy yours.

All the books they give me say something to the effect of, "don't blame the economy." I understand why that is and I get the principles... however, there was an industry collapse in my area in addition to the war. It REALLY feels like I should blame the economy. 😅

Brother I was having a hard time selling over 12 from June > September

Went back to basics and this month trending for 20. It’s a cycle but you can get through it
