Weekly Discussion: What Movie Do You Think Deserves a Sequel but Will Probably Never Get One?

Welcome to this week’s movie discussion.

Some films leave you wanting more, even when the story feels complete. Maybe the world had more to explore, a side character deserved their own story, or the ending left room for something genuinely interesting.

What movie would you love to see get a sequel, and what would you want it to be about?

It can be an underrated original, a forgotten sci-fi film, a cult classic, or a standalone movie that you would trust the right director to revisit.

Tell us the movie and why a sequel could actually work instead of ruining what made the original great.

What movie has a plot twist so deadass insane that it completely alters how you watch the entire film from the start?

A great twist doesn't just shock you for a second; it forces you to re-evaluate every single line, look, and detail that came before it.Look at The Sixth Sense (1999). The moment the truth drops, your jaw hits the floor, and you immediately want to run it back to see how the director hid it in plain sight the entire time. It turns a standard thriller into a completely different experience on the rewatch. What’s a movie where the twist is so flawless it completely changes the entire film the second time around? Drop your picks.

What’s a movie scene where the actors’ reactions are deadass real because the director tricked them?

Nothing beats pure, unscripted emotion on screen. Sometimes a director knows acting won't cut it, so they pull a fast one on the cast right when the cameras roll. The textbook example is The Blair Witch Project (1999). The directors left the cast in the woods, cut their food, and blasted terrifying noises at their tents at night without warning. That exhaustion and panic? 100% genuine. What’s your favorite scene where a director messed with the cast to get an iconic reaction? Drop it below.

What is a Movie that you should go into without watching any trailers first?

Last movie I remember watching with no trailer that I was utterly surprised was The Hangover but My homeboy kept telling me about this Movie called Barbarian but stressed that I couldn't watch a trailer first and I was utterly surprised at how entertaining it was.

I'm trying Obsession next. Y'all got any suggestions

What movie has an intro song that deadass carries the entire film on its back?

Some flicks have a plot that completely falls apart, but the opening track is such an absolute banger you stay glued to your seat anyway.Look at 8 Mile (2002). The second Lose Yourself hits while Jimmy is pacing in the bathroom, the energy is pure lightning. Even if the rest of the script wasn't solid, that intro track alone sets a vibe so heavy it locks you in for the next two hours.

What do you think was the most misguided movie ever made?

A movie that was never going to be a good idea, and then the film makers made every possible wrong decision they could. I have to nominate the live-action Dragonball Evolution where they whitewashed everyone and set it in an American high school. Dragonball is a pretty Japanese franchise with a ravenous fanbase, and they were never going to tolerate it being Americanized. I have no idea what the producers were thinking with that one.

Does anyone know where i can watch Street Fighter (2026)?

I am trying to watch Street Fighter today, but my usual option is having constant buffering issues. It keeps freezing every few minutes, and I do not want to miss the biggest moments.

Does anyone know the best official way to watch it right now? If it is available in theaters only, that is good to know too. If there are any official booking platforms or legitimate viewing options for my region, I would really appreciate the recommendations. I just want a reliable experience without interruptions.

What is a tiny, seemingly insignificant detail in a movie that completely changes how you view the whole story?

I am not talking about massive, flashing light plot twists. I mean those subtle background choices, props, or single lines of dialogue that completely recontextualize the characters once you notice them. What's a movie detail that altered the entire narrative for you?

Kristoffer Borgli calling it a "may-december romance" in his essay, how do you all read that phrase?

When I hear "may-december romance" I usually picture two adults at different life stages. Like one has grown kids and the other doesn't. In his 2012 essay he uses it for a girl 10 years younger who was in high school. So I've been thinking about what the label adds there.

Not saying the phrase is the whole story. It just puts the focus on how other people reacted, more than on where each of them was in life.

The movie references kind of do the same thing imo. They bring a familiar romance plot to mind, and the actual details sit next to that.

Maybe I'm overthinking the wording. Curious if you read the label the same way or totally differently.
Edit: Not guessing everything about her, this is just the wording.
