Question about pausing hrt

• Upvotes

Hiya,

Started estrogen about a month ago. Not an anti-androgen yet (that should be in December).

I started growing dark body hair on my belly that I've never had before and I can't speak to my doctor for another week for advice because they're booked out.

Part of me wants to just pause until I've spoken to them and reassess whether we need to adjust our approach. But, I don't really want to stop as I just started.

Has anyone experienced a similar thing?

Sometimes I desire to have a female body and female clothes. It’s a sense of longing and envy. Why does it feel so alien?

understanding my sexuality now that i have a trans partner

• Upvotes

having some trouble pinning down my sexuality now that i have a trans partner

for context i am a cis woman who has primarily been attracted to and dated/slept with men. i’ve been attracted to women before, but i have not really seriously pursued them and i struggle to see myself in a relationship with one

i met my partner when they were still presenting as a man, and has since come out as non binary. they sometimes talk about getting on estrogen, or thoughts about if they are actually a woman

when i think about them transitioning, it doesn’t bother me at all despite being basically exclusively attracted to men in all other instances. i find that once i am in a relationship and very emotionally connected with a person, it takes a lot for me to not be attracted to them anymore, which i’ve realized includes if they transition. if my partner decided they were a woman, i would see them as such and still be equally attracted to them

does that just make me bi/pan? straight lite? would love hear other people’s thoughts

Which bathrooms should I use for Transgender in Thailand

• Upvotes

I’m a trans woman who just started her HRT on 9/9/2026 which is roughly a month and a half. I know that I don’t pass in my home country. I’m quite tall about 1m82 or 5”11. I used to play sports. I am not that muscular just slightly, now it’s mainly fat. My current hair is just a bit over my ears with little visible bangs and I have my nails done. I dress quite femme in public with short t-shirt, jeans sometimes skirt

What bathroom should I use? I don’t pass just yet in my home country. Anyone from here could give me some insights. I also do self voice training so my voice isn’t too clickable I guess.

Thanks a lot 💕

Is there a way to stop boob growth while taking hormones?

• Upvotes

Been taking estrogen and spiro on and off for about 2 years now I love the way I feel on the with the medication but recently I’ve been getting lots of questions about my boobs.

There not huge but are very pointy and somewhat noticeable if u look, I’m a little overweight so can somewhat play it off as being chubby but my family has started asking questions.

Is there a way to stop boob growth while being on my medication and also is there a way to reduce size? Plan on getting a bbl next year and will try to see if my doctor can lipo fat from them but Ik they can’t get all of it,

Should Instagram, make it mandatory for all users to have their pronouns in their bio?

A big thank you, to all people who have pronouns in their bio, doing so, makes it inclusive for all people, so we don't let trans people feel like they're not alone.

I think, we should make it mandatory, for all people to have their pronouns in their bio, so we can let trans people know they are not alone. there's always people in comment section who get attacked for having pronouns in their bio, so by mandating it, no one can be attacked, and it'll be one of the best ways to combat transphobia

Obituary Politics

Hi all,

I just discovered that my grandmother (of whom I am not fond) passed away last June (2026). In the obituary, I am deadnamed and my trans daughter is completely omitted.

My grandfather (also horrible) died in 2013. His obituary listed 5 great grandchildren. This was before my daughter transitioned and was open about herself. Now that she has openly transitioned, she is left out of the obituary. It specifically names four great grandchildren and talks about them filling her last years with laughter and joy - something beyond a fairy tale in this context.

I have been no contact with my NPD mother (my uninformed armchair diagnosis, to be completely transparent - no pun intended) off and on for years, but I have been in occasional contact with my father, who is also transphobic but someone who I view mostly as a victim/survivor of my mother’s abuse.

I am now 100% zero contact with my entire biological family. Other than my daughter, of course. I am not aware of whether she knows of this attempted documentary erasure of her entire being, so I am conflicted between telling her so that she is not blindsided in the future, perhaps leaving her to feel that I betrayed her by withholding information, and not telling her because maybe she will just never know, and there is no reason to cause her unnecessary pain.

There is also the chance that she simply doesn’t give a f*ck. She’s incredibly intelligent, resilient, and resourceful.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading. I suppose I’m asking for thoughts, advice, commiseration … I don’t know.

Thank you and please stay safe - fight if you have to.

-R

body dysphoria in agender people

Hi! I lowkey never do this or reach out but this month has been REALLY hard for me and i just wanna feel less alone.

So basically- i'm Agender but AFAB. I suffer from extreme body dysmorphia and disassociation- especially when i get periods.
I'd like to do some transitioning to a more comfortable body, i.e. uterine removal but i live in a rural hellscape and when i finally had an appointment setup that i had waited MONTHS for they called me day of and were like "yeah you're over our BMI policy so we won't do it- i know others will so you should check there. I can give you reocmmendations." (Yeah i'm still mad about it as i sit here and wait for my next appointment so i can get a new referral.)

My question really is this- has anyone else born AFAB just really suffered from experiencing their period? How did you manage it? I feel like i am drowning.

They'd always call me the wrong name and pronouns even when I reminded them and everyone else would call me the correct thing. I was only casual but I think they used that to force me out.

Has anyone else felt disconnected from their voice during transition?

Sometimes, even when you start feeling more comfortable with yourself during transition, your voice can still feel different from how you want to express yourself. Hearing it on phone calls or in voice chats can make that feeling more noticeable.

I imagine this experience can be different for everyone. Some people may focus on voice training, while others may still be figuring out what makes them feel comfortable.

For those who have experienced this, how has your relationship with your voice changed over time? Has anything helped you feel more at ease when speaking in everyday situations?

I have no clue whether I'm diy'ing properly.

Well I recently started trying to transition by my own for a week already. I'm only taking estrogen pills and it turns out some people do take T blockers and progesterone, which is something I don't have.

If I only eat that pill alone, am I still doing it correctly? I'm afraid I'm just wasting my pills supplies lol and end up getting no changes at all

How does fertility under hrt actually work?

So I wanna start my estradiol and t blockers but my parents really want me to bank sperm, which I don’t wanna do because of some pretty bad bottom dysphoria. So what actually will happen to my fertility under hrt? Like is it true that if I go off hormones in the future my fertility will come back (if true I could use that as an excuse for why I don’t wanna do it now), and how long does it usually take for fertility to entirely go away?

Trialing HRT and the timeline for the first permanent effects. How long is enough to know if it’s right for you?

Although I’ve never been fully comfortable to my body and likely have long felt some disconnection to it (I’ve avoided mirrors since middle school and disliked my body and facial hair since it appeared in high school), I still don’t consider myself a girl and am simply questioning my gender identity and how I’d even like my body to me (OCD makes it a lot more confusing). Most Redditors who have commented on my posts seem to think I have real dysphoria and cis OCD as opposed to trans OCD and no real dysphoria. Regardless, the idea of that I might dislike the permanent effects is scary. I’m kind of broke and don’t have the money for top surgery if I’d end up not liking the effects after a hypothetical trial period. I messaged a DIY seller and he was very honest that permanent effects could begin in as little as a few weeks, stating that there is no reliable timeframe for when permanent effects begin. Also, how quickly can you tell mentally/emotionally if it’s right for you, as in when it’s no longer attributable to placebo? What are your takes on this?

Advice... questions

Hiii I'm a 36 year old man but I've never been one of the boys. I get genuine gender euphoria when I wear girly clothes (at home only), when I see my ass in the mirror, when I shave down there (only right after, I HAAAATE razor bumps and how quickly it comes back). And I have a lot of grief over not ever having intimate friendships like girls do, not ever being pretty or cute or taken care of or chased or anything girls get.

And I don't have the desire (or the money/time) to change my body. And I enjoy being part of a "normal" family unit and having family friends and being part of a bigger community in the world and creating good environments and experiences for my kids.

What's a girl to do?

IDK ANYMORE!!

I'm a 37 y/o amab, I've always considered myself just a crossdresser, I've always loved dressing up occasionally for as long as I can remember. I've purged my stuff more times than I care to admit. I spent many many years in active addiction, got really strung out on a certain opiate, that's killing people left and right, for about 5 years to the point I was heavily considering ☠️. I was finally able to get help and have been clean for 28 months in Nov.

Now, over the past year and a half I've been getting back into dressing up again. I live in a small town in Tennessee, so you know Red af! I like to go to Nashville, and spend a weekend when I get a chance in full femme. Boy me is not allowed until I leave headed home. I love it, it's honestly what I look forward to mostly, went to a small show last month. I always have a good time just being ME, shopping, eating out, just enjoying the city!!

The past several months have had me questioning who I really am. I still feel like me most of the time. But I feel more like me when I'm able to just be a woman. I've always told myself I'm not trans (obviously nothing wrong with it) but I don't even know anymore. I'm not passing by any means but I don't really care. I feel like me. I know I can't do anything about it right now anyways, but I have been strongly looking into relocating to a more friendly place and starting over again (basically started over when I got clean). I don't know, I just needed to get it off my chest and hopefully find some friends along the way.

Thanks for reading!!

TLDR: 37 y/o amab questioning who I really am and unsure if I'm who I am.

How do you know you are trans?

I am 30+, born male, cis-male passing, but have found myself questioning my gender identity since I was about 19.

It seems most days I wonder if I am actually a trans woman or not.

When I was young, I went by he/him. At uni, with members in the queer space I went by they/them. And with a girlfriend at the time I went by she/her.

Then post uni I avoided mentioning my pronouns again. Or stuck to he/him if asked. As life is hard enough without having to explain my preferences.

On occasion my partner does refer to me in the feminine (as a joke), but honestly it feels really good when they do.

Since I was young, I would cross dress in secret. Sometimes with a partner if they were into it.

The other day, my partner was away for a few days and I just spent the whole time pretending if I was a woman. And honestly I was really happy.

But I have trouble telling if it’s real or not. And the below questions are what keep me questioning:
1. Is it real or just a fetish? I have trouble telling if it is actually just a sex thing or not. I am worried that if not for porn I’d never want this. And I don’t like the idea of losing my libido from transitioning.
2. Is it just a fantasy depiction in my mind of being a woman is. Like if I was actually a woman for a full day, would the realities of that make want to be a man again.
3. I like the idea of physically being a woman, but I also like my private parts and wouldn’t want to change that. Does that mean it’s really just a fantasy then?
4. No small steps with transitioning, that don’t have health risks or no risk of permanent change if I want to reverse gear. Like breast tissue growth from hormones.
5. Body image - For health reasons, I’ve been unable to exercise and gained some weight. I hate the look of myself in drag while overweight. I have no issues with it for others, but I just don’t like it on myself. That combined with my age makes me feel like it’s too late. I wouldn’t want to change if I end up less attractive. I’m a reasonable looking guy that doesn’t track much notice while I’m out. I don’t think my anxiety could handle attracting notice from others and being even less attractive.

I have issues with anxiety, and the idea of doing anything that might attract notice or make life harder is terrifying for me.

I do have a therapist. They want to avoid labels of trans or not, which is fair. And have encouraged me to try things in private. But again, even in private I can get too anxious. And much of the therapy has been focused on accepting that I can’t have everything. Including trying to manage and control gender identity feelings so that I don’t feel the need to transition.

Honestly I just want these feelings to go away. I’m tired of them. It’s been too many years of carrying these questions and I don’t see myself being able to change to match those feelings anyway. I feel like deleting all social media, TikTok porn etc and hoping that those feelings go away with them. Though any time I do take a break from the internet, I find myself back on it soon enough, engaged in trans related content more than before.

Sorry for the long post and rant. This is the first time I’ve said this aloud in a public space. So I wanted to give context.

Is teaching a feasible career path?

Considering *recent developments*, I've started wondering how my planned career is going to go, or if it's even still a good idea at this point.

As of now, I'm currently planning to go into archaeology once I finish college. That field however usually isn't the greatest for a long term career, unless you want to become a prestigious professor or something. So, my plan has always been to become a high school history teacher after spending a few years digging up cool stuff.

As I'm sure you can guess though, a few things are changing in my life right now. I just recently started socially transitioning, MtF, and I've seen some stuff online about how being trans and being a schoolteacher don't always mesh the best.

I'm still fairly young, and even before transitioning I've been gendered female on occasion, so I think with voice training and HRT I could pass. Would it be possible to teach if I go stealth? Or would that only make things more dangerous/difficult? Or would being completely open about it be better? Any advice would be appreciated!

EDIT: For clarification, I'm currently located in the southern US, and am planning to move to a less conservative state in the future.

Advice, thoughts, questioning?

This might not make a ton of sense but I was joking maybe someone the has had a similar experience to what I might be going through.

To start, I am currently 41 years old, male (or amab I guess) and I've been crossdressing for 30 years or so. It has been mostly sexual but about 20 years ago I moved out onto my own and got some makeup for the first time. But I didn't get the hang of it and didn't explore it much further. And never really wanted to go out as a woman.

Move forward about 15 years and I started a relationship and my crossdressing was talked about right away so she knew all about it. My partner, who is now my wife, has helped me explore this side of me and even helped me come up with the name Natalie.

We went to Chicago where Natalie went out for the first time ever. Since then, we have gone out 10 or 12 times and Natalie is always part of our vacations. I always enjoy going out as Natalie more than boy mode when we go on date nights.

This is all to say that Natalie has been a part of my life but I have been more and more thoughts lately about Natalie being more present on a daily basis. We have talked about moving states and being more open about Natalie's existence to neighbors and making friends where I can be both a boy and girl as I feel.

However, lately I have been having thoughts about being Natalie more and more. To the point where I have looked into HRT and wanting to do more to feminize my appearance more. I have gotten my ears pierced, gotten manicures and pedicures, looked into feminine hair styles and brow work, I am getting laser hair removal.

Maybe some of this is because I have the freedom and support to explore this. Maybe it is just a symptom of not having gone out in girl mode for a while. I don't really know but it is kind of scary to think about what I actually want and whether I make the wrong decision.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Late in life actually thinking of transitioning? I don't think I have ever felt I am in the wrong body and don't really think that now but thinking of living as a woman more and more is appealing.

If anyone has, what did you do? If you started on drugs, what did they do to you? What can I expect? Has anyone done anything where they have gone "halfway" to become more feminine or androgynous to allow for more gender fluidity?

I don't really know what I'm expecting from this but it is becoming a louder voice in my head sowing doubt and I guess I just want to get it off my chest if nothing else.

Trans women: is being a woman comfortable?

Hello, I (afab, 24) have a question for any trans women here. It might be a little odd, but I would appreciate any answers and hope my question makes sense.

Is thinking of yourself as a woman…. Comfortable, as opposed to thinking of yourself as a man? Like, when you conceptualize yourself as a woman, or other people see you as a woman, does it feel like a relief? Because looking ahead at life as a woman, for me, feels hopeless and overwhelming and gross. When I imagine myself as a man, though, it feels like I’ve finally leaned back in a chair I’ve been sitting up straight in my entire life. It’s not exactly exciting, it just feels like I can breathe. It makes it feel like existing might get easier.

I don’t know, I guess I’m just wondering if being a woman is comfortable for anyone, and I thought some trans women might have that perspective. Ive seen trans women discuss being excited or nervous about presenting as a woman, but is it ever comfortable? Does it bring you peace? Or is this what being a woman is supposed to feel like (difficult and unnatural)? Did you feel like the expectations were lower/made more sense as a man? Did you feel hopeless? Any perspective is appreciated, and please let me know if I’ve said anything offensive.

What are the real risks of the endometrial cancer on testosterone?

Disclaimer: I know perfectly that everything is individual and the best way to find answers is to visit a doctor, please don't bother me and yourself writing such kind of things in the comments. If you think my question is inappropriate and I should just get an appointment with a gynecologist instead of asking on Reddit, you're probably living in a free country where the transition isn't completely banned and where you don't have to search for a dude who knows a dude... who knows a friendly specialist who understands something about trans health, because any information about LGBTQ+ is banned. Check your privileges, please and thank you. Sorry if this sounds a bit rude.

Disclaimer 2: Female anatomical terms are being used in the following text. If it triggers you, better ignore it. So, this being said...

I'm a trans man, five and a half years on T (specifically on Nebido), had top surgery four years ago when it was still legal. I don't have bottom dysphoria at all and don't want to change my genitals, but I'm considering having hysterectomy because I'm scared of cancer. Well, tbh, most of the time I don't think about it, but some time ago, when I tried to get a prescription for testosterone and visited a wrong doctor, I was told that I have 100% risk of getting womb cancer and that it's bold of me to keep my womb and ovaries. On the one hand, by a wrong doctor I mean an old rude woman who said a lot of stupid things clearly indicating she had no idea about trans people AT ALL. On the other hand, I heard that such risk exists, but I doubt it's like 100%...

Sometimes I feel some strange sensation it my lower abdomen. It's not pain, but rather a little discomfort or the sensation of heaviness? It reminds me of what I felt during periods. Or just before the menstruation was about to start? Tbh a lot of time have passed since I was bleeding, I don't remember such details already. It happens especially when I have to get a shot soon (I do it once every six months: first few years it was one shot per three months, but after I had to shift my T schedule, which is pretty common for long-term Nebido users). This makes me keep thinking about the necessity of hysterectomy, but I'm not sure about the consequences. It's a serious matter after all, not to mention the price.

What do you think about the risks of getting cancer in case I keep the womb and the risks of getting hysterectomy? Do you feel something similar in the lower abdomen sometimes? What do you think it could be? I'm trying to find a dude who knows a dude who knows a dude... and to get an appointment with a normal gynecologist, but yeah, it's a hell of a quest. Thank you for reading!
