Dudes of Astoria,

After a 3 year relationship has come to a close, I have found myself dudeless and in need of some dudes. Primarily to drink with on the weekends (or weekdays) in public places.

If you:

- Identify as a dude (spiritually)

- Are 32, give or take 10 years or so

- Like to drink, perhaps to excess, in bar or bar-like settings

- Find entertainment in talking shit/expressing opinions (however unpopular)

- Utilize peer pressure tactics to convince your dudes to come out OR are vulnerable to such tactics

- Consider yourself to be a pretty good dude

Before/after. I’ll probably end up planting things for next year. The sunflowers were dead, and a ton of trash accumulated over the year… I know who owns this building, and they’re aware of my cleaning, but they don’t take care of the building and have allowed it to become a pigsty.

We were walking to the grocery store and saw this cafe was having their soft opening, they will also be there tomorrow 10/18

We got the blueberry marzipan latte, latte de olla, and the carrot cake latte. Blueberry marzipan was pretty good but the latte de olla was amazing and the carrot cake latte was one of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time like maybe ever? All syrups made in house!

Family run operation! So once I tried the carrot cake latte and was blown away I was more than happy to support and get the latte de olla and was soooo pleasantly surprised. If you’re around tomorrow, support them and stop by! Excited for this place to be officially open soon :)

Started with Octopus pastor taco (wow) and the tuna tostada was even better. Perfect balance of spice, salt, acid, and creamy from the guac.

Going back bc I want to try more stuff.

I just got home around 3am today and hear a helicopter overhead and saw 15+ police officers and 8 or 9 squad cars at the corner of Astoria Boulevard North and 32nd Street.

Does anyone know what happened?

I recently moved to Astoria from Chicago, and while I love the neighborhood and the food options, I haven't been able to find a place for a good ham and cheese croissant. I know it's an oddly specific request, but does anyone have any good recs?

Anyone lived in the apartment above sweet Afton? My friend is considering and he is wondering what’s the noise level like on the weekends? They want him to sign a two year lease so I wanted to ask the question here so he can make an informed decision. The apartment is facing the street.

Anyone know what that insanely loud music at 4:50 ish AM was on the corner of 30th Av and 38th Street? Have been living here over a year now and it was my first night being actually awoken by my apartment vibrating.

Been admiring pumpkin spice lattes in pumpkins on TikTok and Instagram. These spots (to my knowledge) are always out in Long Island or up in the Hudson Valley.

Anyway, when I saw Coffee Lab was doing it, I had to go. So good! I showed it off on a work call and everyone was jealous. If you like a fall treat I’d recommend. I think they are only doing it Fridays and Saturdays in October.

Train tonight was absolutely PACKED and this woman was literally hacking up a lung, not even covering her mouth. Literally just looked chill like she didn’t care at all. Wear a fucking mask!!! Or at least cover your god damn mouth! It’s disgusting and the train is already crowded enough.

I work Saturday programs at a public school and they end up throwing out a lot of bagged breakfasts and lunches. Is there anywhere I could donate or leave these for people to take? I feel so bad watching all of the food get thrown out!

Has anyone used a physical therapist in Astoria (or LIC) for rehab post-achilles rupture? Had surgery to repair it and need to start PT relatively soon. Also open to general PT recommendations--I believe my surgeon will give me a protocol to give to whatever physical therapist I choose. I'd love to find someone on the Q69/Q100 bus route but it's not required.
