Predictive: Progression / Profection / Etc Natal placements that could predict experience having children
Hi! Obviously, I know this isn’t fully dictated by astrology/birth chart. But I was wondering if there were any particular natal placements that might indicate potential for having 1 child vs many vs no children or struggle to have children.
I believe I read somewhere that there were some indicators, but I wasn’t able to find that again. TIA!

TL;DR: There are some instances where it is easy to see if someone will have a child or difficulty, but you have to also look at timing, such as in the case of Madonna. If, when, easy or struggles in regards to pregnancy depends on many different factors.
If the 5th house is ruled by Jupiter or if Jupiter is in the 5th house, there is a good chance of the person having more than 1 or 2 children. However, you still have to take into consideration the rest of the chart, the aspects to Jupiter or the other planets in the 5th house.
In regards to struggle, again, look at the 5th house and the ruler. Typically, Saturn can cause some struggle or delays in regards to having children but this doesn't mean that a person won't have children. I see lots of charts with Saturn in the 5th house where the person has a child or children.
For instance, I have a family member whose 5th house is in Leo, ruled by the Sun. Their Sun is in the sign of Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. They had 2 pregnancies that didn't lead to a birth before their two sons were born.
In my own chart, I have my sun and Neptune in the 5th house, which is in Scorpio and ruled by Mars (traditional) and Pluto (modern.) There is only 1 time in my life where I did not use any form of birth control. I knew that I would get pregnant and 2 weeks afterwards, I took a pregnancy test and sure enough, I was pregnant. It was quick for me, most likely due to the Mars rulership (but technically, I was in the middle of my cycle too.) When I did have my son, the birth was also very quick, so quick that the doctor thought I wouldn't deliver for many more hours, he went and did a C section and the nurse had to deliver my son 20 minutes after the doctor's last check-in. (In regards to modern rulership, the birth of my son and my relationship with him has transformed who I am the most.)
My sister was a huge Madonna fan and I remember back in the 80s, my sister telling me how Madonna was upset because a psychic told her she wouldn't have children. Now, I have no way of verifying this, but I think Madonna is an interesting example. Her 5th house is empty, and is in the sign of Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. Her Saturn is in the 4th house, and is in the sign of Sagittarius, which is ruled by Jupiter.
Madonna had Lourdes at the age of 38, which can be considered a delay in having children. She stated 2 years prior that she was trying to conceive, during a Mercury profection year. In February 1996, during the time she would conceive, Jupiter was transiting in her 5th house and applying a trine to her Virgo Moon. Jupiter's energy applied to the Moon, gave her an opportunity to get pregnant.
In her progressed chart, the Moon was in her 5th house in the sign of Aquarius, ruled by Saturn. The moon in her progressed 5th house, also supports having a child. In the progressed chart, she had a Jupiter conjunct to Neptune in the second house in the sign of Scorpio, ruled by Mars. This tight progressed conjunction helped her hopes and dreams to have children to come to fruition.

I have a stellium in Capricorn in my 5th but technically my 5th house is in Sag, which is ruled by Jupiter. My stellium planets in cap in that house are Neptune, Saturn and Uranus. I just turned 37 and have been TTC since December. My sister and I have the same rising sign and she also has Neptune in her 5th house. Shes gotten pregnant a few times very easily but only delivered 1 child at 38 yo. I’m nervous.

I have a 5th house stellium in Sag. I have my Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars there. I have 5 kids (including a set of twins), I get pregnant easily and never had any miscarriages but I had post partum depression, rage, and anxiety. Had a couple of traumatic births. I absolutely love being a mom and my kids are the best part of my life but I haven't had much support during the challenging parts of motherhood. I always wanted to be a mother and my kids bring me more joy than anything in the world. I think all of that is reflected in my 5th house.

I’m a Cancer asc with a Scorpio 5th house. I have Jupiter and Pluto placed there. Jupiter opposes my Taurus moon (my chart ruler), and trines my MC in Pisces. I am currently a little halfway through my first pregnancy (so far all is well) at 32 y/o. I conceived when Jupiter was transiting my first house in Cancer! Something interesting to note is that my career is in education, in prek/kindergarten, and I am also a stepmom to a 4 year old. Children are definitely my lot in life.

Relateable content! I’m a Cancer asc with Pluto sitting on my fifth house in Scorpio. My natal Jupiter is in Sagittarius, opposing my moon in Gemini. I’m also mid-way through my first pregnancy at 31yo, so I conceived while Jupiter was in Cancer, Uranus is Gemini, and Pluto in Aquarius. Talk about big shifts! lol
Interestingly enough, my partner happens to be a Scorpio rising and is a bonus parent to a child from a past relationship. I don’t expect we’ll play to have many children, but that they will be fated and transformative pregnancies.

Cancer rising here as well with Libra as 5th house ruler and then my Venus and Pluto is in Scorpio also in the 5th house! Venus is trine Jupiter in cancer as well, which is loose conjunct my rising. Venus also sextiles Saturn, Neptune and Uranus.
I’m 36 years old and just had my first baby. I got pregnant so fast with my partner I barely just met at the time and everything has been so smooth but I also had a bit of postpartum depression. I have a Capricorn stellium btw and Virgo sun. My daughter inherited my Pisces moon, cancer rising and cancer Jupiter. This is so interesting! I’m planning to have one my child and then I’m done lol.

I have Venus (7th house ruler) conjunct Saturn (4th house ruler) in Pisces in 5th house. They're square my 5th house ruler Jupiter in Sagittarius in 2H and opposite my Virgo Chiron Rx in 11th house. Venus is trine my Cancer Moon in 9th house. I am deeply afraid of childbirth lol. I'm 31 and never dated before so I don't even know if I would even have the chance of having children anyway. If I did have kids, I would want 4 kids, mostly girls. I wouldn't want just one kid. I struggle a lot financially, so I always felt like I was destined not to because I struggle so much trying to take care of myself. Sometimes I am sad that I can't even have a husband...
There wasn't any woman who struggled to get pregnant in my family so I would be shocked if I struggled. I'm one of the only few that doesn't have kids. But yeah I would actively not try to have kids because I'm scared of childbirth. But if I got pregnant despite using protection, I would keep them. I did those pick-a-card readings on YouTube and they always said I would get pregnant right away if I didn't use protection which scared me. But only with my future spouse and when I am financially stable.

I have a 5H Libra SN and have always been averse to having children. I also have a big career focus (10H Sun + Mercury, 9H MC + Venus, 11H NN). Sadly I’m also very fertile. I’ve only met one person in life where I felt comfortable having children with but I was too far behind in life (lots of trauma, 12H Taurus, abuse through my childhood and relationships) at the time and our relationship didn’t work out.

I have mars in Aries in the 5th. Any thoughts on what the next year might look like for fertility?

I’m not sure, but currently Saturn and Neptune are in Aries so there could possibly be a delay there. This may be more of a time for clarification of boundaries and self assertion in intimate matters. That might look like imagining what parenthood would look like (dreaming) and how you intend to enter it (building) before moving forward

Thank you for this insight because it really resonates with where I am in my life right now. I have Venus & NN in Aquarius in 5th.

I’d start with the 5th house: the sign there, its ruler, the condition of that ruler, and any planets in the 5th. I’d also look at the Moon, Jupiter, Venus, and the Ascendant ruler.
Traditional astrology considers Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces fruitful signs. Gemini, Leo, and Virgo are traditionally barren. Aries, Sagittarius, and Aquarius are often considered less fruitful. Taurus, Libra, and Capricorn vary more depending on the traditional astrologer being used as a source.
Jupiter and Venus supporting the 5th ruler can increase the testimony, while Saturn or Mars connected with the 5th can delay things, or make the experience more complicated depending on their condition and aspects.
There actually are older techniques that attempt to estimate the number of children, including the Lot of Children and techniques involving Jupiter and its triplicity rulers. I’d personally give exact-number predictions a lower confidence level than broader judgments about whether the chart contains a lot of testimony for children or whether the subject looks more complicated.
