Show & Tell Pair of Pristine EPI 100V Thrift Find, the bug begins
I've been slowly swapping speakers I find at thrift stores for a year now, whatever bookshelf is an upgrade. Was definitely not an audiophile, I just enjoyed doing upgrades, until now. I found these for $25 and ignored them because they seemed so plain. Did some research and flew back to amvets the next day, was so relieved to find them again. Nearly pristine, perfect foam, and this unlocked this hobby to me. I never fully understood it until I listened to these. Records I was indifferent on suddenly bloomed and took me to a different dimension (sorry for the cheese).
These were a lot more when you really think about it, considering I got a Pioneer PL-516 and Schiit preamp directly afterwards. The quest for a vintage stereo sansui has begun 😈

Are you sure those aren't 100Ws? Hard to say for sure from your pics but they look like they might be veneered
100V = vinyl finish, 100W = walnut veneers
I've got a pair that are earlier than yours. I don't know if yours has this, but mine had an adjustable tweeter level. Those tend to go to shit over time. Mine were bad, I got replacements from Human.
Yours also has a different tweeter than mine. I think yours has ferrofluid in it. I'm not an expert but I think ferrofluid dries out over time. You may want to get new tweeter from Human too.

My title says 100V, definitely vinyl! Unfortunately getting a bit sticky from deterioration 😭 but I'm curious if it may be revamped before I got it because the foam is pristine. I'll look into how to check the ferrofluid, thank you 🙏

Now that you mentioned that good looking foam again, I took another look and I suspect those aren't original woofers. If you do an image search for EPI 100s, the woofers tend to look a lot different than yours. Yours has a larger dust cap and the cone is like, corrugated.

Yeah I saw that too. Now I have to pop it open, hopefully it's all the original components with some repairs made. Nonetheless, incredible sounds emenating from these beauties

I love my EPI 100’s! I went to humanspeakers.com and ordered a new speaker jack kit that came with a new cap. It has banana plugs so you can easily use new speaker cable connections with it. Highly recommended!
