AI is ruining everything.

Yet there's so many people who call me crazy for disliking it even when only talking about the content it creates

If AI was good, we wouldn't be able to categorize AI art immediately pretty much every time. And I admit, I hesitated because I know tech can be rough at the start as proof of concepts but it has been long enough. Translating sexchatbot autofill tech into art is unsurprisingly, not that great.

This is the most infuriating thing tbh. If you ever show disgust or point out that something "apparently" beautiful is just some Ai slop and you point out every wrong detail, you get treated like your sick in the head or being difficult on purpose

Who is doing this? Maybe I'm insulated enough from the fumigated boomer crowd but I talk to older people all the time so IDK. maybe its like a specific slice of angry Gen X uncles? I don't get it.

Zomboid subreddit is pretty bad right now

Actually, most people I've talked to on the internet shared my opinion, it's the people I meet in person

I think it's because people from English-speaking countries are way more fed up with that type of content and thus are more against AI, while in my country it's only starting to make people mad

Are you saying that this picture of you is a fake!?

It is inconceivable how bad AI is at drawing aircraft. I mean, there must be millions of reference photos available, and it still leaves off wings and adds random, nonsensical crap. Yet, ask it to draw anime and zip, zap, perfection.

I think we should err on the side of caution when assuming AI can't make convincing images already. Even a year ago it was getting hard to tell the difference sometimes, and it was accelerating quickly back then. The state of the art models (whether the average person has access to them or not) are undoubtedly leagues above whatever generated this garbage.

12

u/MaverickPT 11h ago

It really depends on the model used.
Although whoever put in the 0 effort to generate those images also did not put any effort into looking at good models, or having a minimum amount of quality control with what was being spat out

u/Strong-cognac 10h ago

welcome to the age of ai!

2

u/Tangata_Tunguska 3h ago

Depends which model. Frontier image generators can easily make a photorealistic image of a real plane

1

u/Tangata_Tunguska 3h ago

Single prompt. I'm sure there are imperfections I can't spot because I don't know anything about planes

2

u/NoGiCollarChoke 2h ago

The starboard engine isn’t even mounted on the pylon lol

1

u/Tangata_Tunguska 7m ago

I have no idea what that means, I thought the starboard engine pylon is obscured behind the plane. I had a go at fixing it, hope that helps:

Do you know how many reference images of hands there are on the internet? Yet AI is constantly adding fingers, forgetting fingers, or putting them where they don't belong.

4

u/KeeganY_SR-UVB76 8h ago

That’s not happening as often anymore.

2

u/Tangata_Tunguska 3h ago

These fingers?

1

u/TheOrdner 6h ago

To be fair, my partner can identify a plane a a plane and not any finer. 3 props one side and 2 in the other? Yea, that’s a plane

1

u/Dry_Signature2649 11h ago

And I think we all can imagine why

10

u/Such-Comfortable3 11h ago

You’ve heard of biplane, now get ready for… half-plane?

13

u/throwa1589876541525 11h ago

Whoever approves these things needs to engage a brain cell

3

u/blueskyredmesas 7h ago

The reason they do it is because it takes no mental effort. Like most things its a shortcut with sacrifices but they only matter if you care about them. Some people won't.

u/TheAgedProfessor 6h ago

Cool! When did they test B-17's with three engines on one wing and one on the nose? I must've missed that part of my aviation history. Anyone know how it worked out?

1

u/Tangata_Tunguska 3h ago

It was part of their work in moving to a jet B-17:

u/Tangata_Tunguska 3h ago

That prototype was short-lived, unfortunately:

3

u/Axo2645 10h ago

I'd give a lot to be back in a world made by man again.

4

u/blueskyredmesas 7h ago

It's still made by man in the majority. It didn't flip over onto its ass this quickly. The difference now is that LLMs have inserted doubt into everything. They want you to be paralyzed, to assume AI is everywhere, the internet has been injected with bots and killed. It's not so important that they get you to fall for AI content and think it was human made, but its deeply important they make you disbelieve that human-made content is possible now.

2

u/flightwatcher45 11h ago

Ai will implode on itself eventually when it gets into a feedback loop with a little bad data.

3

u/GumGumChemist 10h ago

I really, really hope you're right. I hope the next generations become disillusioned to the internet because of it and real life can come back.

2

u/flightwatcher45 10h ago

I pray for it and think it's going to happen.

You're going have to use much more rudder!

1

u/The3levated1 25m ago

Ah yes, an early 30s french prototype of the B-17

1

u/TheVoicesSpeakToMe 9h ago

Thanks, I hate it.

1

u/PaJoMe A400M enjoyer 7h ago

I hate the way fabric stores have so much ai generated prints. You'd think in a creative branch they'd be more careful

0

u/FranFawn 6h ago

I hate this so much on a personal level...

I often get asked in art fairs if my stuff is AI slop, it has been so bad that I had to print a whole poster explaining my process and how I paint my dumb aircrafts.

I god damn love aviation art, fuck AI slop about aircrafts, I hate it B(

0

u/randytc18 9h ago

Wing spars that touch nothing are the most effective.

0

u/HowToTakeGoodPhotos 6h ago

It’s still the people who are ruining things. AI might generate slop, but at the end of the day, a human decides to use this slop.

-14

u/CollegeStudentTrades 11h ago

How do you know it’s AI? It’s fabric….

6

u/FirstSurvivor 10h ago

It has several early AI image generator tells, including nonsense engine integration in the first picture that any human artist would have known not to do, second picture has nonsense windows and gibberish text.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

1

u/CollegeStudentTrades 9h ago

Fair. Like I can tell that whoever made it has no idea what a B17 looks like… it doesn’t have 3 engines on one wing… I just am struggling to understand the difference between AI and a 5th grader or someone who is clueless

2

u/FirstSurvivor 9h ago

That's the interesting aspect of how you can guess AI, especially later models.

Later models are mostly right, but there will be something wrong. Recently I saw someone asking about a camera setup and the camera was mostly right, but it was a specific, recognizable model and there were specific differences here and there that were not on a real camera. There was also a lens set that had incorrect branding, but only a few letters were off.

Those two pictures are earlier AI, so there will be way more wrong. Most people here see a B-17. A human artist would either use references, and thus would not have the weird engine setups, or would have been fully from imagination and would likely not have been recognized as a b-17.

Second picture my biggest tell is the giberrish text. Early AI models couldn't do text. Late ones almost always use the same few fonts (looks at AI posters and the "painted" font for example). It was also probably meant to be a beaver, and the same comment about how a human would proceed apply.

it takes one gase at the art and you can instantly see whats wrong with it. doesnt even take to be a genius if you know what a b17 looks like.

Because that's the current thing to blame everything on right now.

I never said once it wasn't AI, nor did I even address you. But thanks. I don't honestly care. I'm replying to someone else.

0

u/Strong-cognac 9h ago

okay? that does not stop me from replying to you. thanks for showing how much you dont care by directly adressing me though

I rather they print barbardino crocodilo

-28

u/V12Jaguar 11h ago

That would make a great book cover for a kid!

8

u/strat-fan89 11h ago

That would make a great bonfire. It needs to be burned! Purged from this earth!
