Get the M12 Fuel tools. Can't go wrong with them in this field.

I'm mainly DeWalt but those M12 fuel tools are seriously impressive for their size

It’s shadowed nicely, but the color scheme is not my cup of tea. Sure is easy to tell if something is missing though

I guess it really only takes one person in a whole district doing something like this to make it worth while for the tool truck guy kick our schools door in every few months huh…

So. Much. Wasted. Space.
5
u/Ar-aj-88 9d ago
It's not wasted if you can still cut more!
5
u/sir_thatguy 9d ago
You got a drawer that’s like a foot deep with punches laid down flat.
Wasted space.
3
u/dogzrewl63 9d ago
True! I guess i shouldn't be so negative. If I did that with my tools, I would need at least three more boxes, big boxes, and a bigger shop for those said boxes.

Three speed handles and none of them with a torque wrench attachment, smdh
And you're just showing us your well-shadowed drawers, SHOW US YOUR CHAOS DRAWERS

I know where that airplane came from. Worked for them for 6 years
3
u/80hdis4me 9d ago
I’ve not even heard of or thought about that school in 17 years. I used to be stationed at Scott AFB so as soon as I saw SWIC I thought “damn that sounds familiar” and then a flood of memories came rushing back.

SWIC and a Sabre 40! That’s awesome! My dad and brother both went there. A very very very long time ago
3
u/Ar-aj-88 9d ago
Such a great school! Affordable and great instructors! Bonus is they pay for your first written exam & O&P's.
4
u/FiddlerOnThePotato just MEL it 9d ago
Hope someone else paid the bill for that, I know what Snap-On charges for a fully kitted out box like that and it's about a third of what my house costs. I've spent probably 10% of what that cost and have more-or-less all the tools I need on a regular basis. Looks really nice to work out of for sure but my goodness that was not the most economical way to get to that point.
4
u/Ar-aj-88 9d ago
Hahaha I'm not rich and I most definitely did not pay for the box. If I did have the money I'd go for only the essentials Snapon tools, and the rest will be Harbor freights! Thanks!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like total loss😔 You would be better off just recycling it all and starting new. Fortunately for you, I have just certified myself as a recycling expert and willing to take it off your hands for only a good review😁 Please let me know when and where I can relieve you of that eye sore.

Looks like someone got a little excited with the snap on van. Far too many tools here that you’ll never use and some basic stuff that’s missing 👎
2
u/Ar-aj-88 8d ago
Those vans are the icecream truck of every mechs/techs
2
u/TheGoodShepherd13 8d ago
Don’t listen to everyone telling you that you have too many tools. Every time I thought I had what I needed, I needed something else. Then when I had everything I needed a buddy would be missing something and I came in clutch. Now I work in flight simulation and I am grateful for every tool I bought from snap on because I really need them all now.

I’ve never seen a box with cut-outs for fingers to grip the tools. I’ll never reach this level of organization.
Awesome setup dude!
3
u/Ar-aj-88 9d ago
Thanks bro! It's great for identifying missing tools. Makes it easy to take tool accountability at the end of every maintenance/shift.
2
u/Slagenthor 9d ago
Absolutely. 90% of the time I spend in my garage is simply looking for the tools. Looking forward to the day I get a box.
2
u/Ar-aj-88 9d ago
Even though I have a Snapon box, I really encourage you to get a USgeneral box or Husky since they are far more cheaper and reliable❤️
2
u/1213Alpha NAS1153V3A Drilling Specialist 9d ago
Get a Husky with the adjustable height worktop, the adjustable height is a lifesaver for some tasks and they're significantly shorter than a lot of boxes so you can get them under the wings of more planes.
5
u/Bosswashington 9d ago
I rate it at $22,000

3
u/Bosswashington 9d ago
Ok. $30,000
2
u/Ar-aj-88 9d ago
I won't disclose the price, but it was sure expensive. Hahahha.
3
u/Bosswashington 9d ago
We have almost the same boxes at work, but they are automated. I know how much they are.
I never thought I’d say it, but honestly, your box is worth the price. You’ll be able to give an amazing tool box to your grandkids.

Very nice I’m sure it was a pretty penny but worth it in my opinion. A lot of people hate on snap on and I do get the hate but it’s you’re money and in my opinion I always thought it’s a flex working on multimillion dollar planes with industrial level tools. But everyone has there opinions on tools and I choose snap on.

How do you measure torque on those antique screwdrivers if you can't hear how many ugga duggas it makes?
(8/10, excellent organization though I'm more of a task tool drawer than category tool drawer guy, get you some personal power tools, drill motor and high speed at least, the electric hi speed 90s are getting better every Gen)

Even without the aircraft in the background of the first picture, I would have instantly guessed A&P. Every tool has its place, labels for the tools are present, tools all have a specific spot, so it is easy to see if/when one is missing and identify it, and all tools are hand tools. But the one item that really gave it away is the tin/aluminum snips.
I am surprise you don't have a magnetic "in/out" toggled tool list on a side panel or in a drawer to check-out and then check-back-in each tool you use. I always have both a physical one on the tool box, plus, one is always the first page on the stack of the repair/work order paperwork, and there is a digitalcopy in the work order tracking software that requires it to be 100% complete before the tech can close the job. It is a triple check system that every tech is required to use on every work order. Pain in the arse but it almost guarantees that we don't wind up with a foreign body (aka lost tool or hardware) inside the repair. Annoying but effective. No one wants to be responsible for a news reel that reads, "A disappeared/lost 10mm socket resulted in someone's death today." (I know, aviation is almost exclusively SAE but you get the point.)

Did you buy tools or are they provided? If you bought them, where did you get the silhouettes routed put at? I also am gonna assume you are primarily propulsion due to lack of rivet gun and bucking bar
2
u/Ar-aj-88 9d ago
I did buy them, but I did not get to pick the set. And the silhouette came with the set from Snapon. PN: ATKMFLB ❤️
2
u/PlaneNo4904 9d ago
Oh I see. Are you mainly propulsion? I do strictly air frame on flight controls. But my company provides 90% of my tools. I only have to purchase my special tools that make my job easier, like jigs, bucking bars, etc..
Are there tools at your work you can check out? Also your torque wrenches are really nice. I am gonna request those ones

FOD causes crashes. The analogy of surgeons and counting tools/sponges is spot on
2
u/utterdown 9d ago
The one thing that doesn't do it for me are the electronic torque wrenches. I have such a bad experience with those... The idiot that designed the battery-lid, should be held accountable for everything that is wrong in this world.
Happened several times already: while being upside down with your hands in a right space, I didn't notice the battery lid coming undone. And you're torquing up to 185ft-lb and you feel that nut going loose at a certain point... Instant tears and extremely loud saxophones... I just need that satisfying 'clique-claque' and not the endless vibrating beep.
Plus I need to see some safetywire hanging from the side along with some nitryl gloves 😂
