Fish on Fridays in restaurants. (meatless?)

I ask this as a person who prefers fish. :-) In restaurants, is fish served even more on Fridays? Like in buffets, prato do dia, special of the day, etc. How seriously is no meat on Fridays observed?

edit: emphasis on "is fish served EVEN MORE on Fridays?"

Most restaurants have fish on the menu regardless of the day of the week.

Usually there's fresh fish every day, unless there's a major storm and the fisherman don't go out.

No meat on Friday’s is not really a thing in the Azores. But you should find fish at almost every restaurant.

The bigger challenge would be finding a menu that has NO fish on it

Not even pizzerias!

Not eating meat on Fridays is done during Lent by Catholics (and maybe other Christans, but Azores is predominantly Catholic), not year round. And it's not expected of tourists to follow (or really anyone, it's each individual person's personal conviction).

Sorry you got downvoted when you actually understood the meatless part...such is the way of reddit...

It's all good, that's the way reddit goes.

My parents are Azorean and I was raised with meatless Fridays during Lent, so I completely understood what you were referencing.

But like others have said, you won't have an issue finding seafood because of how prominent it is in the cuisine.

What do you mean "no meat on Fridays"?
