Wilderness Six days in the Sierra Backcountry
Went on an incredible solo backpacking trip in Kings Canyon National Park a couple weeks ago. 60 mile loop starting from the Bishop area. Some of the most spectacular scenery I’ve ever seen.

Amazing shots. Really nice work. Where is the bottom shot on 9 (totally fine if you prefer not to tell)?

Evolution Lake. Far enough out there I don’t feel bad about sharing the location. Most beautiful lake I’ve ever seen in the Sierra.

These photos are so beautiful! Definitely moving this 60 mile loop higher on the list! What camera did you use for these images?

Beautiful. You made good use of every lighting opportunity it seems! Now I have to go to work after looking at that...

You got an eye for sure!! What kind of camera did you bring

Sony A7IV with the 20-70mm f/4 lens. I absolutely love that lens for backpacking. Any decent camera will do though. The landscape and lighting is what makes a good photo.

Exceptional shots. I feel like you’re channeling Ansel Adams without trying to channel Ansel Adams by just sharing your personal experience. Outstanding.

Great pics of Evolution Lake, one of my favorite in the Sierra. Awesome campsites next to the waterfall at the lake’s outflow.

Please remember to post a short paragraph as a comment in the post explaining your photo or link. Ideally at least 150 characters with trip details. Tell us something about your trip. How long did it take to get there? How did you get there? How was the weather that day? Would you go back again?
Submitted content should be of high-quality. Low effort posting of very general information is not useful. If you don't add a short explanation in the comments, your post may be removed.

Kings Canyon from the Bishop side is on my list. How was water on a 60 mile loop this late in the season, were the lakes and creeks still flowing okay?

Most common trailheads out of Bishop are North and South lake. Both have tons of water along the trail

Yeah that’s the route I took! It had water everywhere the entire trip. Never had to carry more than a liter

Incredible! How was the weather?

Weather was great! Which can be a gamble this time of year. Late summer is always my favorite time of year to backpack in the Sierra though

Hey OP, these are some incredible pictures !! How long did it take you to cover all the spots though ? 60 miles seems like a lot of distance to cover in a few days

Thanks! Yeah it’s a great route. I took six days and it felt pretty relaxed. Plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and take photos.

Beautiful shots. Mind sharing your camera setup for backpacking?
