Immigration Question or Discussion Why do so many Peruvians work in Freeport?

Not trying to be xenophobic, I have no problem with foreigners. I just notice that whenever I practice my Spanish with somebody, they're usually from Peru. I would expect more workers from Cuba than South America

I think most of them work for QSL Limited up by the Harbor. Most of the spanish speaking workers were from peru or panama. I worked there a few summers ago and they are hired because they are really experienced welders and pipe fitters. They are super cool.

At the shipyard or what? I don’t think I’ve met anyone from Peru lol. Plenty of Mexicans and Venezuelans though

There have been a good bit of Peruvian there since the 90s. A lot of the ones I knew lived in Windsor on the Mall. That’s the apartment complex directly across from Pizza Hut.

Similarly, I am confused/concerned/ curious about the Indian and Filipino populations on New Providence. I recently heard of a Filipino carpenter in Nassau on a work permit. His skills were mediocre at best. What are the rules?

We have a lot of Filipinos here too. They're usually pharmacists.
