Want the council opinion if it’s time.

Fully disagree.. if I can hide the balding, than u should be fine.. unfortunately his comb over isn’t hiding the balding..
I had a bald spot at 17 and I’ve been able to fully hide it til 22 and no one thought I was balding

You "fully disagree" with what? The purpose of the [r/bald](r/bald) is to frankly, genuinely assess hair loss and support people shaving their heads to "embrace bald". It's not about trying see if you can fool people/waste their time.
Its fine to hide your balding if you want, but an assessment of that isn't what the purpose of posting here is.

I fully disagree with the general idea… if you can very easily hide balding spots with longer hair and it doesn’t look like ur balding, 9/10 people would prefer that then going bald..
Obviously this guy is not in that category tho

"Fully disagree" all you like, you're talking about something different

Not really at all but ok

You are fella. I believe its absolutely fine to obscure your balding if you can effectively do so - with styling, combover, man bun, hats etc - and are happy too. Nothing I said previously contradicts this.
However if you're literally asking for an honest opinion of the state of the hair loss on this sub, it's logical to honestly show the extent of it. You could go to elsewhere to test how well concealment or techniques are helping to hide things.

Again I disagree. For example my hair 1 year ago was fully covered with long thick hair and if I posted it on this sub, everyone would be saying to hold..
But my hair was slicked back.. so ur telling me I would have to unslick back the hair (which would reveal the bald spot) and then u would say to shave it?

Well, “disagree”... You simply don't understand what's being said to you or the purpose of this sub.
You haven't posted here because unlike OPs you're not exploring the idea of shaving your head (you're opposed to it), and you don't want an assessment of your hair loss.
If you wanted opinions on whether your slicked-back style successfully concealed it, then by all means you could post it slicked back. But that's an assessment of the concealment, not an assessment of the underlying hair loss.
That's more for r/iambalding: see if they can tell. While r/tressless have many posts about concealing hair loss.

Dawg you’re just wrong.. if someone is able to hide a bald spot or thinning extremely well, everyone on the sub would say HOLD..
How can you disagree with that lol

Whatever your ultimate choice, buzz or bald, the current path is not sustainable. Whether I think it is time or not, the first step is to let go of the fear of being bald. You’re among friends now.

I think you would look great bald! It’s a choice at this point but that combover does you no justice. Be bold be brave… go bald!

I think it is time! And that you will be very happy to let go of concerns about your hair. I know that for me, it was not only not worrying anymore about balding (a huge deal) but also not worrying anymore about managing the unruly hair I had left (it was once really quite beautiful but it was just frustrating and time consuming eventually). I wish for you the same freedom and peace and ease that I feel now! 🥰

Buzz it down and keep your hair lighter. No more styling products either. Let your scalp breath and try using shampoo with tea tree oil.

Your current look is not a good one. Either change your style or shave it off

Your bald spot doesn’t look bad. At least from the pics I’m seeing. Everything else looks strong. I’d say hold (unless that bald spot is much worse than the photo)

Oof. This is just a comb over. You could keep the beard but just buzz your hair all down.

Need to see what’s under that combover bro.
Looks like you still have time but I’d recommend just going and seeing a decent barber, they can work wonders

Whatever product you’re using is not helping, it’s causing your hair to clump and look more bald, we can see more scalp than if you did t do whatever you’re doing. Wash and post pic.

It’s not yet time to let go of everything. I recommend a buzz cut.
3
u/Moha7654 Sep 16 '26
Bro Buzz cut was in my head for weeks now! Time to try it I believe
1
u/OscarVerde223 Sep 16 '26
Buzz cut might look good at first, but you have visible bald spots which will be highlighted. My opinion is shave 🪒 sir. It will look 👍🏻
1
u/legionetrangere Sep 16 '26
Yeah, i'd go for a buzz cut. You're just not there yet, my brother
Cheers, lad!

Dude wtf are you talking about. Go back to ur original comment, I’m saying I disagree with THAT… one should be able to hide their balding or thinning and present to the council.. because that’s how they wear and style it.. when it gets to the point that it doesn’t work (like this guy), then it’s time.

You have a combover. Unless you are cool with that and the maintenance involved-and likely anxiety on a windy day or getting into water etc... then yes, it is time. You could last a little longer.. but I imagine there is stress there?
