Analysis One year ago, Brian Anderson (MIL PvP guy) called the Brewers NLCS loss to the Dodgers on TBS. One year later, Joe Davis (LA PvP guy) called the Dodgers NLCS loss to the Brewers on FOX

Yes, yes, I know. Late as hell submission. But fuck it.

Another fascinating factoid coming out of this now-ended NL Championship Series is how Anderson, who’s the main PvP person for the Brewers locally, called the Dodgers sweep over his team on the national broadcast in October. This time, it is how Davis, who’s the main PvP person for the Dodgers locally, called the Brewers sweep over his team on the national broadcast in October.

Time is indeed a 6D trapezoidal shape. 🥸

PvP? Ngl, I'm more a PVE guy because there are way too many griefers.

It's well known that announcers after each game have fist-fights, hence the PvP. /s

It's cool that they added that new PvP tutorial though. But I'm still not good enough to get the cape 😔

Is PvP an abbreviation for play-by-play I’m unfamiliar with?

I think OP meant to type PbP...but who knows maybe he's really into killing other players.

I've seen PxP used as an abbreviation not PvP though

No, Anderson is the main guy the Brewers use to fight other guys. I think the guy is just confused why Anderson showed up last year and Davis this year when they are supposed to be there at the same time to fight each other.

I just hope the Guardians make it to the WS so Ramirez can take on Anderson.

Brian Anderson > Joe Davis

They should have a deathmatch on CoD or something

I was thinking more like machine gun each so they can shoot non stop in the same way announcers talk non stop

Poor Brian Anderson. His team is going to the World Series and he’s not gonna call it despite being way better than Joe Davis

u/875_champagne 15h ago

If they win, he will probably get a ring. He's probably fine.

u/robotmalfunction Milwaukee Brewers 11h ago

It sounds like he's just gonna go to the games which is also pretty rad

BA sucks. Joe Davis is significantly better and I’m not being biased. BA sounds bored

u/dyslexda Milwaukee Brewers 17h ago

"My home guy is better than your home guy, but I swear no bias!"

That’s insane. Brian Anderson is a thousand times better than Joe Davis.

The hate for Joe Davis is that he works for the Dodgers. That’s literally it. People are operating on confirmation bias and therefore any time Joe says something about the Dodgers it’s automatically because he’s in the tank for them. And they just completely ignore when he makes a big call for the other team because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

I think BA is one of the best at the cadence of baseball, but the reason Joe has the job he does is because he’s the best big moment caller in the game and the highlights from these games are what ends up living on forever

u/LegitiamateSalvage Milwaukee Brewers 18h ago

Personally I found his big moment calls just kind of mediocre in this series, it was fine - not bad, not great.

Except Shohei’s HR lol, feel like he put every fiber of his being into that and hardly anything else. Was also asleep at the wheel for Chourio’s 1st pitch HR

11

u/dusters Milwaukee Brewers 15h ago

Like snoozing through a first pitch HR? That kind of big moment?

u/evancomposer Milwaukee Brewers 14h ago

I think Joe Davis is fine. Nothing better or worse, but perfectly fine. John Smoltz on the other hand can go fuck himself.

Brian Anderson is emphatic when he makes calls. I had to hear him be emphatic to your team last year, while I had the displeasure of the opposite this year with Joe Davis

21

u/Last-Carpenter2685 21h ago

You are clearly being biased

40

u/Either_Imagination_9 New York Yankees 1d ago

Sounds bored?

My guy that’s Joe Davis’ whole schtick. The most energy he had for the whole series was Ohtani’s three run homerun, which meant absolutely nothing

10

u/Im_Anemic_Royalty Milwaukee Brewers 1d ago

Makes sense that Davis’ biggest broadcasting influence was a different Joe who always used to sound bored on the mic. Buck has improved a lot over the years, but man he could put coffee to sleep back in the day. Made arguably the greatest catch in NFL history sound about as impressive as turning a 6-4-3 double play.

7

u/badger1224 Milwaukee Brewers 23h ago

The ishikawa call was better than anything Davis has done imo

8

u/AdoringCHIN Anaheim Angels • Rocket City Tra… 23h ago

And Joe Davis is a massive homer. I'm sure he's going to sound super annoyed anytime the Brewers do something cool.

He went absolutely apeshit on the Bauers HRs, especially the one vs Snell - https://www.mlb.com/news/jake-bauers-hits-go-ahead-hr-off-blake-snell-in-11-pitch-at-bat-in-nlcs-game-3

u/KevinV626 Milwaukee Brewers 15h ago

The way he yells Jake Bauers on that call is engrained in my mind-brain.

If he's so good why does he only do baseball?

Your opinion is your own so I can't really argue it, but "Brian Anderson sucks" is a molten lava level hot take.

Was it just because both were game 4s, and its the home team announcer who gets the call?

BA should get the World Series. But that would mean he’d have to work for fox

After having to listen to BA for the entire ALCS, I might be bias but, TB BA > MIL BA. Our sub calls him Temu BA. He also loves mentioning our stadium rings on every pop fly

3

u/Luis_Arraez_Fan San Francisco Giants 15h ago

Unfair comparison cause one is play by play and other is color

3

u/Fredsbigbooty Tampa Bay Devil Rays 15h ago

Ah that’s fair. Didn’t take that into consideration tbh.

-4

u/Jeremiahs__Johnson Tampa Bay Devil Rays 14h ago

I don’t like Mil BA or Joe Davis. I wish we could just have our normal commentators in the postseason. Or someone better than the 2 we have at fox and tbs.

4

u/Luis_Arraez_Fan San Francisco Giants 12h ago

Mil BA is great IMO. Especially his calls of the Noel and Fry HRs, but of course we don't wanna be thinking of Cleveland walk offs right now haha

1

u/soursurfer Milwaukee Brewers 7h ago

The Noel one is seared forever in my brain.

Pretty sure it was on FS1 and not FOX… since you know I had to listen to it on the radio since I don’t have cable…

5

u/Nightcinder Cleveland Guardians 16h ago

What do you think the F in FS1 stands for?

1

u/GiannisIsTheBeast Milwaukee Brewers 13h ago

I’m fully aware that it’s FOX. The post makes it seem like it’s the main FOX channel which it definitely was not. Who the fuck puts such important games on some random channel?

1

u/Luis_Arraez_Fan San Francisco Giants 12h ago

That's always how it's been for the Championship series, most games on FS1. But hey you got your wish for the WS
