I like the hardwood look of the table. I’m actually gonna get a custom piece of walnut and replace my cheap desk slab on my standing desk.

Why did you get rid of it? I just have a long mat that's under both my keyboard and mouse, it's also great for protecting the desk.

I just prefer the cleaner look without it. I've had the mat for a couple of years and wanted a change. I get that it helps protect the desk, but I'm not too worried about that
