Community Discussion: AI Content
With the widespread availability of AI tools for editing text, images, or video, we are seeing a sharp increase in AI-related content on this subreddit. These posts have a notable increase in negative responses and reports.
As of today, we have no official rules for AI-related content on this subreddit, and we handle content the same as actual human-generated content. It seems clear that at least some portion of the community does not wish to see AI-generated content.
Suggestion
At this time, I am suggesting we codify the use of AI-generated content on this subreddit. This would include content that is wholly AI, partially AI, or edited by AI. Any generative AI technology will be included in this definition.
Exceptions shall be made for the purposes of trivial tasks such as spelling or grammar checking.
To determine our next action, we will open the discussion for about a full week. This will conclude on the 10th of May, 2026. At that time, feedback will be collected and processed into a new rule for approval. A second round of discussion will be opened on the wording of this final rule before enforcement begins.
Community Participation
All user opinions are welcome for this process. No opinion will be given any inherent weight over any other opinion.
Only top-level comments will be reviewed. While we welcome you to discuss among yourselves, we will only consider the top-level comments to determine our consensus. This saves us from having to piece together long threads.
In particular, we would like to know the following:
- What measure shall be applied to a post to determine if it is AI?
- Gut feeling?
- User reports?
- AI detection tooling?
- Dice roll?
- What action must be completed by users posting this content?
- Posting flair?
- What if it’s a comment?
- Should users fully disclose where the content came from (e.g: which model/site)?
- What moderator action shall be executed on breach of the rule?
- Content deletion?
- User moderation (Ban?)
- Content flairing?
- What about comments? We cannot flair these, do we delete? Moderate? Ban?
Thank you for your time and hopefully your input.

Enclosure/Tank First person in my bloodline to spend £33 on a giant stick for a lizard
If anyone is reading this from the UK, order decor from Swell! The same sized branch from my local place cost over double I wish I knew how cheap they were from here sooner😭

Hangin' Out Don’t worry Dad, this doorframe isn’t going anywhere.
Was hanging out with Ghost just now, and he hopped down off my chair, walked right over to the door and stood up right up against it, like this was exactly what he planned to do from the second he jumped down. You keep doing you Ghostie!

We just got these two (not sure if male or female but if anyone can tell by the pictures please lmk) and they need names! Also this is my first bearded dragon experience so any tips for care would be appreciated too.

Hangin' Out Hi! So princess and I keep getting told....
That she cannot have room mates! Is that true? I see posts about co-owning a dragon house with multiple 😮💨
But I keep getting told they will fight...
Help! She needs a friend, I don't think I can take her attitude when she has to be put back in her home 😇😅

Lazy Lizards Brumation season is upon us... she's spending most of the time in her cosy log now.
I moved this log to the other side of her enclosure a couple of months ago (I bought her a bigger log), and she still prefers that one.

New Beardie Friend Hatchling Bearded Dragon with his tail around his face
I've never seen one hatch like this!
They typically pip head first with tail coming out last. He emerged from the egg looking anatomically normal several hours later.
Two notes: The X on the egg is a mark to make sure eggs are oriented that direction. Eggs shifting during incubation can harm, or kill, the embryo.
Droplets on nearby eggs is the eggs shedding water. They "sweat" before they hatch.

Any recommendations on mini retractable leashes for bearded dragons?
Druja and I love to go outside together when the weather allows for it, and I'd like to be able to let her run around on the ground in places where it's safe for her to do so. The pictured harness doesn't fit her anymore but I'll be making her another one just like it (just with different measurements and better velcro). So far, I've just been using a long elastic cord as a leash with that harness (the chain was for the pictures), but fumbling around with it all the time and trying to keep it untangled was getting a bit frustrating, and I had the idea of getting a tiny retractable leash for her. I'd still use some elastic in between the harness and the retractable leash for some shock absorption. I was wondering if anyone has tried it before, and if so, which particular ones worked and didn't work? My main concern would be that she wouldn't be able to pull against the resistance of the leash since the smallest ones I can find are for cats and really small dogs/puppies. Druja's full grown now but sadly fairly small due to past abuse and neglect from when she was a baby. She's just barely 14 inches and came in at 290 grams at her most recent weigh-in, so I'm not sure if any of the leashes I'm looking at would be weak enough for her to not just get lifted up off of the ground from. If I had the extra money I'd just buy multiple to try, but unfortunately that wouldn't be a smart thing for me to do at the moment. Thoughts and recommendations would be much appreciated!

New Beardie Friend Highly recommend me a breeder
Looking to avoid genetic defects and heart break as much as possible. I went to a reptile show even hoping for better than chain stores and the sellers looked like people selling animals from a dark alleyway.
Any suggestions on high quality long lived beardie vendors?

Translucent Beardie Lighting
Hey all, I’m reading conflicting information on how my lights should be set up for my little guy. We’ve got a 4x2x2 tank with a 105-110F basking spot halogen, and a 24in Reptisun T5 10. It’s currently mounted inside but I’ve read that translucents have thinner skin. Is that true? Should I mount the UVB on top instead? I just want to make sure everything is right.

Help UVB kit
Any Aussies able to let me know where I can buy the arcadia pro t5 desert 12% 24w 24” kit. Want to change my whole set up over to it, but can’t seem to find anywhere that has it for a decent price. Found somewhere, but it’s sadly out of stock.

8 Month Old Bearded Dragon
Hey guys,
I need help, I’m confused on what’s going on. I’m a first time reptile owner
So I got my bearded dragon 8 months ago in march when I got her she was very small, so I’m thinking she was born in that month. So I say she’s 8 months old.
I recently upgraded her tank to a 120 gallon tank she was acting completely normal at first, basking, moving around, eating, pooping normal.
I noticed as time went on she started being near her basking area but to the side (hiding away from the heat)
Started eating less, pooping less, basking less
Now fast forward she’s hiding in a cool area of the tank , she’s eating less and hasn’t pooped I’m 2 days. She’s hardly moving, she hasn’t basked in 3 days
I looked up this, and it led to saying it’s brumation symptoms
But she’s 8 months old ??? Isn’t that only for the adult bearded dragons
any advice ?

My Smart Beardie
**THIS IS LONG. SO IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ THATS OK.*\*
Kova is a rescue and I’m his third owner. Everyone says how they have tiny brains they don’t understand things. Even a vet I saw (which I no longer see). Said “ Ah, they are just dumb little guys”. Actually they are smart. They just have attitudes.
Yes, some are silly like my other guy but he’s no dummy either. So, Kova when I got him he was 5yo. Since then he’s been my heart and my family knows he’s living forever, and so does he.
They are food-motivated, yes like my other guy to-do things. He’s smart in his own way. Kova just picks up things and he doesn’t need food to do it. I taught him to use the bathroom. By just doing exactly how I taught my kids.
If he’s on the bed he’ll come to me so I can take him and if he’s on the floor, he’ll walk to the bathroom.🚽
When he gets antsy on the bed (which he knows to stay on the green blanket). If I show him his usual spots. He’ll walk off of me to leave him there. If he wants to go up. He’ll walk over to the enclosures.
I can tell him to stay on the bed. By repeating myself and showing him my pointer finger. 👆🏼He will just stare at me until I come back. I do this cautiously bc you never know.
When he’s mad at me he will ignore me and stay with my husband because he knows I’ll get mad lol. While he’s with him. He gives me his back or I’m getting the nasty look. On other days if my husband is holding him and I walk by. He’ll reach out for me like a wittle baby.
Today he felt like he had to go poo twice no luck. So, I stayed on the bathroom floor just in case he felt an urge to go again. Instead he walked over to our bedroom door and put his nose on it. (He’s never done that before.) He was telling me he wants to go outside the room. (He likes the living room.)
So, I put him on his blanket fixed up his area. I sat next to him. Then he turned and looked at me. I picked him up and kissed his wittle face. He climbed up and fell asleep. We ended up laying on the couch while I watched TV. Yes, he was warm.
When people tell you they are dumb or they have little to no brain. They’re wrong and Kova proves this. They may not love in the same sense as us but I know he sees me more then just his slave for food and warmth. He knows I’m home and safe for him. Every night me and my boys do the same thing. I give him kisses on his beard if he’s with me. If not it’s a touch on his back to say it’s night time. I tuck Ashe into his bed and kiss him on his head. They care and love in their own lizard way. 🥰. Ok I’m done gushing over my baby.🦎

New Beardie Friend I feel like such a good mum 🥹
So I just got this little man yesterday, he had a very stressful journey having to travel on trains and a boat…he’s in his new 4ft home and he seems very happy! Wanted to give him food as soon as we got home since he hadn’t eaten all day…and he snatched the rocket out of my hand! Woke up this morning to him sitting with his nose against the door, so I picked him up and he just pancaked on my hand. I tried to put him back in 5 mins later as too not stress him too much and he refused to get off 🥹 he’s just had a bunch of crickets and a mealworm (as a treat of course) now he’s basking on his rocks.
I really hope these are all good signs and that he likes me 🙂↕️
I’m still trying to find the right name for him, I want something from game of thrones..
I can’t call him drogon because that’s my fish’s name
I was thinking of Vhagar or falkor(never ending story) but idk if they suit him, any other name suggestions would be amazing!
Any tips would be great too!
Also just to add, he’s 6 months and I read that this is the time to start transitioning to substrate but he’s still only 9 inches so I’m waiting a little bit till he’s a little bigger before starting it. I also read that paper towels are good for this age and size until he can have substrate, please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong 🙏
