In my experience, Berkeley Bowl is usually cheapest for most non-organic produce, especially if you can go earlier in the day and grab good items from the "discount" shelves (definitely check carefully for mold or anything. TJs might be cheaper for bananas or a couple items here and there. Safeway is garbage unless they have it on sale.
For canned stuff, I almost always just get it from TJs if they have it. Berkeley bowl is much more expensive.
Toogoodtogo is also a fun app - would recommend acme bread and starter bakery, they have really huge bags of baked stuff for $6 or $10, but you probably need to bike/scooter/drive, it's pretty far from campus.

Ooo didn't realize there's a discount shelf, but idk man. I checked it out and some things for sure cheaper but I found others to cost more there. I basically never go to safeway except for those very few things listed.
Agreed can stuff from TJ's is the best. And i'll check Toogoodtogo. I have a car so that's no issue

Im lazy... so not much, but when i do it isnt hard.
Chicken Fajitas . Cook chicken breast, Then Cut bell pepper, cut onion, cook them. Wallah you have chicken fajitas (some tortillas help too)
Eggs and Potatoes Burritos. Cut potatoes, cook them. Throw eggs into the same pan when the potatoes are done. Mix until eggs are scrambled into the potatoes. Roll into a burrito with guac and yellow peppers. Bomb.

If you’re an undergrad, you should try applying for calfresh/EBT if you haven’t already. More undergrads are eligible now since you don’t have to work or be in a specific major anymore! And they only include parents income if you live with them.

Thanks for the list! Everything is expensive now a days so it’s good to keep an eye out for deals
