Snowboarding

Hello! I am curious about snowboarding at big bear. I am both new to snowboarding as I come from the south lmaoo and first time ever being in California as I’m stationed here for the next 4 years. Any information would be super helpful! TIA

I learned on my own. Don’t do that. Get lessons. And wear a helmet. I hit my head, KO and fractured my back.

Go on Mon-Thurs.
My experiences in Bear/Summit in the last few years on a weekend have been awful.

Get a helmet, rent gear at first, take lessons, plan for it to take longer than you think getting up the mountain and parking in the lot and shuttling to the resort, and buy the quad pack of tickets from Costco if you plan on going more than a couple times, but know that a lot of lessons include tickets, so be smart about your purchasing.

Snow Summit has a beginner's program for skiers/snowboarders. Start there.

And if you think you're going more than a few times, invest in a season pass. Daily prices can get expensive.

Use the Marine resort for lodging. I believe it on the Miramar website

Try to find friends that know how to snowboard so they can at least guide you a bit
