'85 Lowrider

Bought myself an ’85 FXSB Low Rider because apparently I needed another old Harley to fuck with.

She runs hard, looks right, and has already started handing me a list of shit to fix. Leaking fork seals. Leaking petcock. A little oil seepage here and there. Plenty of evidence that somebody’s been in it before me.

Perfect.

I’m not building this thing for resale value, a trophy, or some dude on the internet to tell me what a “proper” Low Rider is supposed to look like. I’m going to fix what needs fixing, cut up what needs cutting up, leave the good shit alone, and make it into the bike I want to ride.

And yes, I put a heart-shaped mirror on it.

Because I fucking can. 🖤

This one’s gonna be fun.

I've got an 85 FXEF, the sister bike. Have had it for almost 40 years now, it's been a great bike. It will be good to you if you treat it right, enjoy.

Just curious, do you have a big, like 1" tall letter "A" stamped in your neck casting?

Where on the neck would that be? I'll check later today.

In the flat at the center of the neck casting. I never really noticed it before, but I sandblasted this week for paint and is pretty obvious now.

After I posted I was laying down some primer and can see it's probably only 3/4 of an inch.

I didn't make out to the shop today. But, I'll look next time I'm out there.

I didn't see an "A" on my neck anywhere.

Those gloves were out of stock so long I stopped checking the site. Got excited when I saw this and checked the stor but all they got now are the XXXXXXS and XXXXXXL 😞

I've had those gloves for about two years now. My wife got them for me as a Father's Day gift if I remember correctly.

The magnet idea is absolutely wonderful. But, the gloves themselves leave a little to be desired.

They're a size XL, which is what I wear in most other gloves. But these gloves are a bit too tight.

I've been working on stretching them out and breaking them in. But they're built very well and they're not stretching as much as I would like them to.

That said, I would definitely recommend them if they're ever back in stock.

Did not know the early evos came with a kickstarter??

Only the first year Evos did. The Wide Glide, Fat Bob and Lowrider in '85 carried over the four speed transmission and the kickstarter. I believe the '86 Wide Glide also had the kicker as well.
