Appreciating the everyday things is what life is about. When you stop chasing rarity things look different to you

Yes! Our robins always disappear for a couple months at the end of breeding season. They reappear during fall migration and stay throughout the winter. I don’t know if it’s the same group or not but I love seeing them!

Before becoming a birder: oh, birds, cute
After becoming a birder: omg, look at those little American Robin flappy flaps 🥹

I absolutely adore robins. I called them, my MVP of the birding world.. they are so fun to watch hunting bugs and worms and they have the most fun in bird baths and puddles! Thank you for sharing this!!

Robins love to bathe, and I love to watch them!
And OP, this is in no way a criticism of you, but I would like to urge that all of us who enjoy ALL birds - not just rarities or especially beautiful ones - to quit adding disclaimers to our posts. I've done it too, because there is often an a-hole that feels the need to be snarky about posting common birds. But it makes me sad to see that so many of us feel the need to make excuses for enjoying everyday birds.

I love them. Especially when they group together and do the run, run, run, stop!

Yes! I never tire of robins. Sadly, they are declining around here. Still quite common, but no big flocks of them like there were 20 years ago.

Fair point. Our perceptions of rare are relative and I shouldn’t take for granted the opportunities I’m blessed with.

I feel like this about grackles. I know they’re common, I don’t care, I love them. Love watching them.

I'm surprised they're taking time to bathe, I thought they'd be looking for night-crawlers.

This is wonderful, OP! I love how much beauty and wonder there is in the small, common things. Whenever I can, I spend the morning watching robins on the crabapple tree in my yard. They’re so delightful.

Nothing better than Robin taking a bath. I hope that's what I'm watching when I leave this earth.
