Birman cat?

Hi! This is Mochi she is 6 months old, i got her when she was 3 mo. Her previous owner said that her mom is a siamese and dad a birman, i was suprised because i thought she is a ragdoll. She doen’t look like siamese to me at all. What do you think?

i was searching a little and i came to a conclusion that cat can’t be a breed without a pedigre?

Correct, and mixed breed cats don’t exist

Basically, cat breeds aren’t a set of genetic mutations like dog breeds are. They’re just a set of traits that can appear in domestic populations that have been selectively bred into pedigree lines.

A cat with breed has those exact traits to match the breed standard. So, there’s functionally no difference between a cat born to two different breeds and a cat born to random bred street cats.

If both parents have the right genes, this cat could have come from a black cat and an orange cat. Both colorpoint and longhair are recessive genes. That doesn’t mean the kitten has Siamese or Birman ancestry.

That lineage seems correct.

Beautiful cat.

If there isn’t established pedigree, it’s either a domestic short hair/long hair.

That’s just how it is.

She's a beautiful cat either way. Do you have pedigree papers? and a ragdoll would not have Siamese and Birman parents. The parents would both be ragdolls. I think I've seen this cat on another thread, again she is very beautiful.

thank you, no she doesn’t have papers but i am not sure about her parents, also i thought that she was a ragdoll before i knew what her parents are, just from pictures. She does have characteristics of birman, all her toes are white.

She is a beautiful kitten and all that matters is that you love her and she loves you. You're not going to show her anyway or breed her so call her whatever you want. Does she have a ragdoll temperament? That's all that matters is she's a nice cat and it has a great temperament that she loves you and you love her. And you will know more in time how big she gets that is an indication of possibly what one of her parents are. But without paperwork all you have left is a DNA test and they're not that accurate. But you can go that route also. Best of luck
