Can anyone share their surgery stories?
Hi😊 I am the owner of two purebred Burmese and my family recently went through a rough time with my oldest. He got an injury to his eye (don't know how) and we spent about a month trying to make it better. We finally got closure last week by an eye specialist that we could try a surgery to keep what little vision he has left, but his eye could burst by just jumping from his scratching post. Second option was to remove his eye. He just had it done 3 days ago and we just think he looks a bit "rough" because they shaved his fur. Does anyone have pictures of how their kitties looked right at surgery compared to when their fur came back? I love my little teddy bear and just want to hear from other fellow owners what they experienced❤️

So my poor lil dude Harris was already blind when we got him as a stray kitten but, had yet to have his surgery to remove what was left of the one damaged eye. After surgery we placed him in a quiet room in his large kennel with his cone on per the vet to keep him contained and protected from our other cat and him jumping on things. Well, long story short we went in to check on him and feed him. He had not only gotten his cone off but had rammed into the door of the kennel freaking out and had torn up his lil face. We rushed him back to the vet and the cleaned him up as much as they could. They advised at that point to just leave him in the room without furniture to jump up on and keep an eye on him while he heals. The photo are really rough but he healed very well afterwards

They said his surgery should be done at around 10 am and we could pick him up at 3 pm. We thought 5 hours should be plenty of time to work off the sedative, but we were clearly wrong. Wobbled a bit before giving up and just going to sleep on the kitchen floor close to his food bowl. He is begging for food like he usually does and begging to go under blankets with us like before. My mom almost cried tears of joy when he started meowing to get a piece of chicken like he always does😅 nothing wild yet, but you never know with this guy. And Harris looks like a pretty boy despite the rough start😊

Your baby did really good and looks really good too. That’s awesome he is coming round. There’s nothing like a good piece of chicken to get you feeling better :)

Your cat will be just fine! I was also so worried about my poor squid, but love, food, and rest go a long way!

Yes it looks a little rough, but he will be handsome as ever once the fur grows back. As long as the closure area is not looking infected, then he will be fine, actually better than fine because I'm sure that eye was irritating him. Give him a little time to adjust and heal. This was my Willow after surgery, She looks normal now, (looks like her eyes are closed.

Also it is normal if the anesthesia takes a few hours to go off his system. Milo was operated around 12, was walking weird the rest of the day.

Is it really necessary to shave that much? They barely did it for mine and it went very smoothly, he wasn't even trying to scratch it
