Blue's Clues Opening Season 6 (DVD Rip) (4k Upscale)

I think it's my 2nd Favourite Blue's Clues episode overall.

I've seen many people say that Blue's Room destroyed the Blue's Clues series, and I would like to know what specifically about it. The use of puppets? The fact Blue could talk? What was it?

Now, in my opinion, I love Blue's Room. I like the usage of puppetry and the fact Blue could talk. Now, like all of you, I grew up with the original, and I didn't know of Blue's Room until a few years ago. I can agree that Blue just barking was nice, it was what we were all used to during from 1996-2002. I was born in 2005, so Joe would've been in my time, but I grew up with Steve, and Joe occasionally. Also, do we have any statements from Steve on his thoughts of Blue's Room?

My thoughts:

I had this episode on the Blue's Big Pajama Party VHS, so I have some nostalgia. I prefer Pajama Party, but this one is good too. I still remember the disco-inspired "Our Dream" song.

A few things I didn't realize until I was much older: Steve's dream accidentally predicts him leaving the show to pursue a music career (well, partially). And the Felt Friend race scene may or may not be a reference to Chariots of Fire (the show has done references before, so it's not unlikely).

look, i know they're unpopular, but there's at least some level of genius in making the clues evolve from individual instruments in a song to leitmotifs within one song.

anyways, what are some of your favorites? i personally like the ones from I Did That! and The Fairytale Ball.

I decided to include Sprinkles because why not? (I also did some improv on some of Sprinkles spots, I made sure I got the majority of his spots correct (especially the yellow one around his eye). Now I will admit my art is not perfect, but this is the best I can do.

I wish somebody would do this, like make recreations of the Blue's Room puppets and sets, and start a fan revival, though I know Nick would probably slam the mighty copyright hammer on anyone who tried.

This is just a silly thought experiment, but what if Blue Clue's episodes were called something else?

For example:

- The Wrong Shirt >> Opposite Day

- Blue's Big Band >> Rhythm and Blue

- Blue's Big Car Trip >> The Backseat Boogie

- Blue's Favorite Song >> Song Time

- What Does Blue Want to Build >> Construction

What are some other alternate titles you can think of?

This may seem odd, but what if members of this subreddit created a Discord server? Like a place where everyone just gathered together to talk about their love for the franchise even more? That'd be cool.

If Nick did approve an Alice in Wonderland special where Blue was in Alice's dress, how would they work around the story? I know Nick's censors would probably rework the Drink Me/Eat Me part, and they'd obviously find a workaround to the whole "I better check to see if marked poison". But what I would wanna know is if they'd include the Pool of Tears and the house growth and all that. They definitely would work around the "off with her head" part. But Blue would prob talk/be a puppet/both in this. White Rabbit would be Steve (I mean, he'd be late for college or something).

If Sprinkles was Blue's little brother in Blue's Room, why doesn't he appear in Blue's Clues & You? Does he only exist in the magic box? Or did they not consider Sprinkles canon like a one off thing from Blue's Room? I love Sprinkles, he's such a cute character, and I really can't believe I missed this series because I was the target audience at the time it aired.

My thoughts:

Another episode that's just meh to me. This one feels like a Season 1 leftover with little to no overarching story.

It does center around the senses (well, 3 of them: touch, sight, and sound).

It is noteworthy for introducing the Race to the Thinking Chair theme.

Plus, there is some minor foreshadowing for episodes such as What's That Sound and What Did Blue See.

I hesitated to buy the complete seasons bundle on Prime Video when they had a good deal, the price went up then the option disappeared altogether. Has this happened before? I’m kicking myself. 😭

Okay, so this is kinda crazy, but I honestly never heard of Blue's Room before. I only knew of the original 90s Blue and & You. I was even more amazed to find out the whole premise of Blue's Room was that Blue could talk. I went this whole time knowing that Blue not only had a canon (or at least Blue's Room canon) voice, but she also had Sprinkles as a baby brother. I was a toddler around 2006-07 so this makes me feel like I missed out a lot. As for the Wonderland AU, I saw someone create it and fell in love. I've always been an Alice fan since age 5 when discovering the Disney version, and since then, I've been an enthusiast. I imagine either Blue would be able to talk like in in Blue's Room, or they'd do a puppet sequence like the show. I really wish it was real because Blue's Clues is one of those IPs I'd really think would explore the Alice story well. I also like the usage of the puppets because that's an interesting avenue to venture to. Puppets have also always intrigued me for some reason.

Steve and Blue spend the day rhyming while trying to find out what Tickety's favorite nursery rhyme.

Observations, opinions, and/or stand-out scenes?

My thoughts:

The curriculum for this episode seems to be about letter and word recognition. Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper lunch game is about alliteration, Julia's riddles focus on analogies, and Black Sheep's poem is about rhyming and word sounds.

This concept would be later revisited in another episode, Rhyme Time from Season 4. Side note (that no one probably cares about), this was the first episode to be written by the duo of Dr. Alice Wilder, the research director, and Michael Smith, series writer and co-creator of Team Umizoomi.
