Bone I.D. - N. America Young coyote or fox?

Quickly took some pics before I clean it off properly, I also was wondering if age can be determined as it appears not all teeth have erupted on this one. Thanks in advance !!

Would I be correct in guessing it’s a coyote under six months old?

How long is this skull? The sense of scale in your pictures is not great, but I'd say coyote. The adult canines are only just erupting behind the desiduous ones, which means that this animal was 4-5 months old. At 6-7 months, the adult teeth should be in place.

Thank you! It’s 6-7 inches, closer to 7 I think. I knew I forgot something lol definitely screams coyote then, right?

That's too large for a juvenile red fox so yes, juvenile coyote. Nice specimen! I have a juvenile fox skull with both desiduous and permanent canines, skulls in this transition period always look cool.

edit; if you need tips on how to clean this, there's a pinned FAQ at the top of this sub
