If you're wondering why a police helicopter is flying over Brampton: Peel Regional Police now operates its own Air Support Unit, using an Airbus H125 (A-Star) helicopter.
Since the helicopter began operating, we've had a large number of posts asking why it's circling, where it's going, what it's doing, or whether something is happening nearby.
To avoid having multiple nearly identical posts every time it takes off, please use this megathread for general helicopter sightings, questions, tracking, photos, noise discussion, and other routine discussion about the helicopter.
According to Peel Regional Police, the Air Support Unit can be used for:
The helicopter is equipped with thermal imaging, day/night cameras, live video transmission, a searchlight, mapping equipment, and a public-address system.
Seeing the helicopter does not necessarily mean there is a major incident happening nearby. PRP also uses it for patrols and other routine policing operations.
Yes, when there is actually something significant to post about.
A separate post is fine if:
A standalone post simply asking "Why is the helicopter circling?", "Anyone else hear the helicopter?", or posting a routine sighting will generally be redirected here.
Please don't present guesses about what the helicopter is doing as confirmed information. If you know why it has been deployed, include a reliable source when possible.
Do not post private addresses or attempt to identify people being observed or pursued.
If you are witnessing an emergency or crime in progress, contact 911 rather than relying on Reddit.
For non-emergency police matters, Peel Regional Police can be reached at 905-453-3311.
Otherwise, feel free to use this thread for sightings, questions, discussion, photos, flight tracking, and anything else relating to Peel's new helicopter.

Hello,
Can anyone recommend a cleaning service? Just need a basic one time home cleaning and there seems to be too many repetitive or fake ads on marketplace I don’t know what to believe!
You can dm me info if your cleaner prefers it. Also if you know someone, what’s their hourly or flat rate?
Thank you.

I’m not sure if a post like this is allowed but man oh man I had an opportunity to walk around Mount Pleasant and it is so incredibly disappointing.
I’m not sure why the city didn’t earmark a certain percentage of the commercial buildings for specific kinds of businesses.
I counted 5 barber shops in my short 10 minute walk to get to my uber.
I wish there was a big multilevel coffee shop/ independent book store with ample space for seating to work and chill with friends.
I wish we had more fun businesses in this city instead of the 1000th barber shop, shawarma place, and Indian snacks restaurant.
You know what I would love, a cute coffee shop that I could pop into right before catching my train where the baristas know everyone and their orders, and there’s comfy chairs to sit and relax and catch up on a book or work.

Some advanced notice before the posts asking if anyone else hears bagpipes downtown.

I live near the Etobicoke Creek Trail and a year ago, maybe two, I remember seeing tents EVERYWHERE. There must have been 100+ on the creek‘s path and off the streets leading into the downtown area. I’ve noticed that I am not seeing many tents up at all. I actually can’t remember the last time I’ve seen one.
I don’t know anyone who is experiencing homelessness or anyone who is familiar with the system, so I am curious about how so many unhoused people are suddenly not visible. I thought the homelessness problem was growing, and that resources are becoming less accessible. The issue was so prevalent in just this one area, I’m sure it existed all over the city. I am interested in learning more about this and appreciate any insight you might have.

Posting for a friend located in the Tottenham area just North of Toronto.
TLDR; a friend’s ex stole & re-homed her elderly cat without her permission, and refuses to give her any information on where the cat is now - she could be anywhere in Southern Ontario now. Hoping word of mouth can help produce some information.
“PLEASE HELP ME FIND SAFIYA 💜
I’m desperately trying to find my cat, Safiya, who has been part of my life for 12 years.
If you or someone you know has recently adopted a cat from a man in his 30s in Tottenham, Ontario, who matches her description, please reach out. Safiya has a smokey calico coat and blue eyes.
My ex-boyfriend Julian rehomed her without my permission. I believe she may have been given to someone he knows.
If you know where Safiya is, or have any information that could help bring her home, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Even a small detail could make all the difference. I just want the chance to find her and bring her home where she belongs.
Please share this post and help me reach the person who has her. After 12 years together, I’m not giving up on her.
Safiya, I promise I will find you. 💜”

Putting yourself out there is scary. Walking into a room where you don’t know anyone and wondering if it’ll be awkward. Those feelings are real and they stop a lot of us from ever showing up at all. Almost everyone in our group felt that way when they first they came out. But they all took that first step and showed up. The Brampton Board of Games is hosting a board game night this Tuesday, October 20th at 6:30PM at the Grotto Tea Lounge (Burnhamthorpe & Mavis in Mississauga) and we’re inviting you to show up.
Board games break down barriers and help people from different walks of life build connections with each other. You can be yourself and make friends.
We're 200+ members strong, the Brampton Board of Games was built on the belief that meaningful friendships are still possible as an adult. And if you can't make it out Tuesday night then join our Discord. Our community keeps growing and we have a bunch of private additional events that include: TTRPG sessions, escape rooms, foodie adventures, and hikes across the GTA.
The hardest part is showing up the first time. Everything else is pretty easy. -Yoda (probably)

Hi,
May be a dumb question but can I use my blower and blow all the leaves onto my side street? My yard is littered in them and I see other homes put them in the garden bags which then they put curbside for garbage day.
I have no issue raking and putting in a bag like my neighbors but do I have to?

Talked with Jugraj Singh Khinda. He's a candidate for councillor wards 3-4. We talked about transit, libraries and crime. He's young, intelligent and very impressive once you get to know him. I'll definitely be doing a armchair quarterback video with him after the election. His political knowledge is off the charts. You can find him at jugraj .ca everywhere.

"the worst place in Canada"
Brown really sent out these flyers, bragging about making Brampton the worst place in Canada... "To commit crimes".
What he really means is the worst place in Canada
- for respecting privacy of innocent civilians
- the most heavily surveilled population in Canada
- for helicopters doing donuts over your house when your try to sleep
- for back door deals and no accountability for self serving politicians who refuse to declare conflicts of interest
- placing signs vacant rental properties
- voting to waive their sign violation charges
It's time for change, maybe Wesley Jackson can fix some accountability issues so the next next council can be trusted

Someone asked a while back for suggestions on good salons to get their eyebrows done at. A few people had mentioned Eve’s Vanity, and today I finally checked her out for myself!
She’s absolutely lovely, and REALLY knows what she’s doing. My eyebrows are finally sisters and no longer cousins lol. I’m very, very precise on how I like my brows and although I can honestly admit my expectations were a bit unrealistic, she somehow still managed to exceed them. Left a little area to grow out, and normally my first instinct would be to tweeze all those tiny hairs out but honestly, somehow they still look clean and very well kept.
Eve is absolutely lovely, her studio is extremely hygienic and cute, and I’m so so happy I decided to book her!
I def recommend Eve’s Vanity if you’re looking for somewhere to get your brows cleaned up, and although I’m unsure of specific she offers a lot more as well
