Probably all the torture he subjected her to before he turned her. She essentially has eternal Stockholm syndrome.

I believe the line of thinking the writers were going, was that at least initially it is the demon aspect's first loyalty is to evil and the destruction of humanity. That's why her hatred of Angelus is only present while he has his soul in What's My Line. Either that or, because of Angelus, she sees sadism & torture as affection. The distinction between the the demon & the individual becomes much less defined as the series goes on.
Though part of this is due to the original plan for the season was that Spike was going to die in his first episode. And that the Drusilla & The Anointed one would have been running the Order of Aurelia until Angel turns. The fact that the Order follows Spike through the season seems more random but would have made sense if the Anointed one stuck around. Perhaps then it would have been Drusilla that sides with Buffy in the finale.

Made more sense this way. I can't see Dru in a wheelchair or powerless, so why help Buffy?

In that version she wouldn't be. They'd omit the cuckold storyline entirely. Dru helps stop Angelus because he tortured her & killed her family. Its a version that only makes sense to an earlier version of her character.

Angelus became the center of her universe as he slowly murdered everyone she ever loved, probably left them out for her to find, chasing her for months or years until she took her holy orders. Then killing and raping the nuns, probably raping Dru, and turning her. Then there was more torture, teaching her to crave pain with other physical sensations.
Remember, Dru turned William to have a companion because her Daddy wouldn't hurt her as much as she wanted.
He became the center of her universe and he remained the center of her universe.

Yea I always took it as Dru was his favorite project until he got bored and lost interest and went back to Darla

Then Darla went to the Master, and Dru had plenty of being tied up and tortured.

Did Angelus torture Dru physically after turning her? If so how?

However she wanted I would assume. There's a flashback in season 5 of Angel where Dru is complaining that Daddy won't hurt her, even a little, and Angelus tells her all she has to do is ask.

Is that flashback in Season 5 of Buffy or Angel?

Angel.
But I can't remember what episode. It's when Dru tells Darla "I could be your Mummy one day, so it's in season 2 actually, I think.
Just located it. It's in Darla
Dru: "I'm full and warm - yet all alone."
Angelus: "That's not true, precious. You've got us."
Dru: "Not in the least. You won't even hurt me just a little bit."
Darla: "All you have to do is ask."
Dru: "No. He's head's too full of you, grandmother."
Darla: "Stop calling me that."
She hits a chuckling Angelus and pulls him down the street.
Dru following: "Don't be cross. I could be your mummy."
Angelus: "Well, if you're lonely, Dru, why don't you make yourself a playmate?"

Trauma bonded really hard after all the torture before her turning. The actual definition of trauma bond, not the recent one people have been using.
I can only assume the time they all spent together probably just cycled the trauma bonding. Abuse to positive reinforcement to more abuse to more positive reinforcement and then being stuck in moments where she felt she was in a position of power over others, like Spike, she felt good with them and loyalty to Angel.

Demon magic, with years of experience and cruelty. In season 2, Angelus sired multiple vampires who were willing to die in order to deliver a message for him. The Master had fanatically loyal minions, as well as Balthazar and Kakistos. This leads me to the conclusion that vampire sires can literally compel loyalty from their children, but it takes a very strong, experienced vampire and a lot of effort to do this. The child can also break free eventually if they get strong enough.

Thanks for your reply and didn’t mr Trick break away from Kakistos? While spike betrayed Angelus in becoming episode

not always sires i don';t think; it's just Angelus like th emaster used the vampire cult leader idea which wa sso prominent in Count Yorga , Vmapire or El Vampiro.

She’s pretty loyal to all of her “family.” She goes back to LA to sire Darla when she finds out she’s been revived, and specifically does so because she “thought it’s what she wanted.”
She doesn’t even want to leave Spike until she has the premonitions that he loves Buffy, and she comes back to Sunnydale to try to get him back for the sake of a family. As far as the sexual relationship is concerned, I think she just idolizes him in the same way Spike idolizes her. He introduced her to the world and the cruelty he used to do it became a sort of achievement once she lost her soul. Spike was also in a wheelchair and she’s all impulse, plus Angelus… looks like Angelus. It’d be more surprising if she didn’t have sex with him.
It also doesn’t really seem to occur to her that this is cruel to Spike. She thinks it’s flattering that they’re fighting over her, doesn’t seem to understand what he’s angry about, and is surprised he betrays them.

He broke her mind and made her his plaything. She has an unhealthy attachment to Angelus and Darla.
Angelus, Darla,, and Drusilla were a vampiric polycule. Then Drusilla claimed Spike and he joined. Angelus and Spike had that charged homoerotic scene right after Spike was turned. They’ve been together too.
This is more about Spike’s weakness and his place in their relationship than it is Dru and Angelus being fuckbuddies again.

I explain all of the oddities of that foursome by how they'd turned each other and then "lived" together, which locked their old human identities in place as part of their new vampire identities, all sort of balanced against one another.
So when Angelus came back, Dru got excited by the return of this monster who had helped define her existence for so long, and whose return felt like completeness returning.
And for the unusual way Spike and Dru's love continues on in undeath, it's not because their love was so extra special that it overcame soullessness; it's not that they're an exception to usual vampire rules so the show could be more interesting; ....it IS the rule of nests we're seeing here with them:
when vamps stay together their default emotional states stay too? , because human style relationships are what the vampires use to assign identities in their new lives. and then their nightly interactions reinforce those old human relationships, even if the new demon doesn't feel the original emotional attachments anymore. This is why Dru felt it was fine to do things Spike took as a betrayal of their love, because their togetherness was only a default state she would return to out of habit while straying from Spike whenever events led her astray. Spike was the same. They came back to one another because they remembered something about that being the right thing to do. Their proper state of being, in this life as in the last. The comfort of Home. Of the nest.

After breaking her and turning her, he probably took her under his wing and encouraged her new darkness.
That line seems to be rather loyal. The Master and Darla, Darla and Angelus, Angelus and Dru, then Dru and Spike.
