The accused does not have a criminal record in Quebec.
This and the police believing it's not domestic issue make this a very weird case

I was under the impression that the victim knew the guy through her work with the CRA, not as a personal relationship.

How ? You don’t give the public your name and address not show your face so it’s highly unlikely

The CRA does outreach events with disadvantaged populations. Ex new comers, elderly, homeless, prisons, and so forth. I think those folks give names but not sure. I do know they often take their own cars with their own license plates to events.

You would be correct. Some of us show up to taxpayers homes/businesses (sometimes unannounced)and would be giving our real names and driving our own cars. This certainly makes me think twice about my desire to do that.

Now that this is a murder trial in front of the courts, the precise details around motive are going to be kept confidential (to protect the integrity of the case.)
However, when this first happened Im certain this tidbit was mentioned in a news article I had read about the incident. It stuck out because another femicide occurred around that time and I was concerned this was yet another incident of that nature.
It is not as difficult as one would hope for motivated bad actors to obtain personal information like this. Posting the wrong pictures is sometimes all it takes. Doxxing, cyberstalking and even whole online communities exist for this exact purpose....

He was living in Ottawa previously, possibly elsewhere before that. Possible that he does have a record in Ontario.

I would love to here the context here. The only pieces of information are man with Muslim sounding name kills woman with Jewish sounding name and it was a domestic violence situation. It's shitty my mind ends up going there but these are the times we live in.
I hope it had nothing to do with the ethnic/religious background of the two individuals. I am getting real tired of violence from other parts of the world coming to Canada.

> woman with Jewish sounding name
Her first name is Arabic, her last name could be Jewish but I’ve found a number of people from the Maghreb that have the last name and have clearly Muslim first names, and she moved here from Tunisia about ten years ago. The chances that she’s Jewish are very slim.

I hope her colleague who witnessed this on Zoom is getting the support needed. That shit would haunt me for decades.
