MANGA 'Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun Finals' chapter 103 - Summary Spoiler
kobayashiminoru.blog.fc2.comThe cover is a score sheet. Spain's fifth goal is described as "Father Juanito's 'heavenly' assist." This means it's a score sheet from the reader's perspective.
The title is "The Shock Runs Through the Team." The title itself gives away the content.
Tsubasa's family and Sanae's family are waiting in front of the hospital.
"Japan won," says Sanae's younger brother, Atsushi. Atsushi calmly states the result, while Daichi rubs his eyes, half-asleep, as he listens.
Yukari, unable to bear it emotionally, runs off and calls Ishizaki. She seems to feel responsible. From anyone's perspective, it was an accident, and Yukari is not to blame. But anyone involved would probably react this way.
At Montserrat Church, the new priest praised Michael and Raphael's efforts while also hyping up the supporters for the third-place match. This was a special setup for the semi-final, but it looks like the third-place match will also be watched at the church.
"Looks like the new priest is just as much of a football fan as his predecessor, Father Juanito!" shouted someone in the crowd. It's a little sad that he wasn't called by his name.
In Barcelona, journalist Gambino makes the mistake of missing his flight due to being engrossed in the long match.
He informs the editor-in-chief that he will be covering the third-place match while also meeting with Michael's aunt.
The editor-in-chief already knows that Gambino is leaving the company to become a freelancer, and says that this will be Gambino's last major assignment at the company.
"You've worked hard for a long time, Gambino."
The editor-in-chief asks if his company's publishing division can publish "The Truth About Mikael," which Gambino plans to write. He's hoping to make one last profit now that Mikael has gained many fans. He's a businessman.
Gambino readily agrees.
At the Madrid Santiago Bernabéu, Ide informs the coaches that Tsubasa has returned.
After the Japanese eleven have finished their rounds of greetings, Coach Kira offers words of encouragement and tells them to prepare thoroughly for the match against Brazil in four days.
"Yes!!"
Ishizaki and the other players look pleased.
"...And one more thing."
The eleven are shaken by Coach Kira's words.
He urges all the players to gather in the locker room. Coach Kira says he has something important to discuss there.
Tsubasa, in disguise, calls his father, Koudai, and tells him he's on his way to the airport. Tsubasa's hat looks so new, I mistook him for Wakabayashi, sensei! The disguise was a success!
"Tsubasa is coming back to Japan..."
"What?"
I don't know who said "What?", but normally he would come back, wouldn't he? Surprised?
Yukari continues calling Ishizaki, but he's still on the field and has no idea what's going on.
In the waiting room, the eleven players speculate about Coach Kira's demeanor.
Ishizaki is excited, saying, "Wow, I've got so many missed calls from Yukari... I guess today's match was a huge hit in Japan too!"
Then Mikami begins to speak, prefacing it with the caveat that it's something he doesn't want to make public. He tells them about the earthquake in Japan and the events that followed.
Ishizaki: "No... You're kidding..."
Misaki?: "That can't be..."
Tachibana Brothers: "No way..."
Wakabayashi: "Ah..."
Taki: "Our manager..."
Unknown: "Tsubasa's..."
Nitta?: "Tsubasa's wife..."
Unknown: "That can't be..."
They can't hide their shock. By the way, in Road to 2002, Wakabayashi still referred to Sanae as "Ane-go" (older sister)
Mikami: "...At worst, we might have to play the final against Brazil without Tsubasa."
Kamo: "Please be prepared for that possibility and continue your preparations for the match against Brazil in four days."
Mikami: "That's all from me..."
