Chateau Château de Chenonceau, France

One of the standout châteaux of the Loire Valley, spanning the River Cher on a series of arches.

The long gallery over the water was added in the 16th century. It was a favorite of Diane de Poitiers and later Catherine de’ Medici, and it’s still one of the most photographed buildings in the region.

This place is amazing. It is one of the few chateau in the area that still is furnished with originals inside it. Basically all the loire chateaus were completely stripped bare in the French revolution except for this one because the mistress was beloved. If you go, get there right at opening and you have it to yourself.

Imagine the mosquitoes

Mosquitoes don't lay eggs in running water, only still water. There's a shitton of mosquitoes next to Chillon castle in Switzerland for example, because it borders a lake.

The Cher River is a thing of beauty; from the castle, you can enjoy a majestic view.

I saw it on "One Piece"

Lol I saw it on YuGiOh GX 😭 They used it as a model for the girl’s dorm which is, I guess, fitting, given how it was favored by noble/royal women

Davvero unico nel suo genere, ha una forma insolita ed è affascinante come la sua storia. Da visitare

I’d probably spend more time outside admiring the arches over the river than actually exploring the castle. Anyone visited during sunset?

I guess nobody told them it was a bad idea to build in a flood plain.

Yet it's still there in 2026 without any issue. You should call them mister reddit master.

Still look unfinished. French things need to be symmetrical.
