This is realistically what’s going to happen in any mode with a chip once you get the cargo. Ain’t no way the company is just going to let you be after everything you’ve seen.
Unless you did not escape and are good obedient little specimen for next batch of experiments that would break a lesser sawian, CEC hates wasting assets that could provide sweet sweet data after all.
Not a pop actually, iirc. But symptoms akin to radiation poisoning.
There's actually TWO killswitches in the chips. The obvious one is the microbomb. But the second killswitch basically starts emitting radiation directly in your brain if it turns on. The implied purpose that I am seeing of the second killswitch is to act as a semi-reversable punishment for non-compliance. It can be seen in-game by, under normal conditions, taking too long to progress to the next layer, causing the Radline to appear and overtake you. Passing the radline back after the killswitch flips on will force the rad killswitch to power back off, and moving to the next layer will force the radline to cease to exist until you prove tardy to progress to the next layer again.
PDA
i met up with someone, we agreed to try to go out to the surface through one of those holes to the outside. my friend stepped out first, and immediately they started stumbling in shock. they seemed to be in a lot of pain. they vomited a bunch, then collapsed and stopped breathing soon after. their skin started blistering too, especially around the head and neck. something is preventing us from leaving. im scared.
Seems I misremembered the PDA with an older one, it is the radiation one
After adding the explosive device as a replacement for the basic quit button, they said that they might scrap the chipped "good" ending because it doesn't really make much sense with the existence of the two killswitches that could quickly put an end to any attempt at doing so.
It could always be that you do it in a “dead zone” where they can’t see you but it doesn’t kill you unless you take too long doing it, maybe a stat check of sorts would determine the likelihood of pulling it off. Idk or maybe radiation causes the chip to malfunction for a bit
It could just be for gameplay purposes or just something they didn't think to change, but the radline is unaffected by the solar-struck modifier, implying that whatever manages the Punishment protocol (and thus probably the radiation killswitch, if it would activate in this case) wasn't affected when the rest of the chip was disabled.
Technically, the explosive device also doesn't seem to be affected by solar-struck, but it also detonates while exiting in normal Unchipped, which seems like an oversight (but if it needed an actual explanation, it's probably more Observer shenanigans; if it can put a bullet in an empty gun to let you blow your brains out, it can probably place a triggered explosive device in your skull.)
I hope they don't scrap it. I do think the chip removal minigame should involve disabling the killswitch as the very first thing you do, though, and perhaps if you fuck it up badly, your head blows up.
Not sure about the cargo part but I believe that the game gunsaw takes place in the same universe later on the same planet on the surface which implies at least after the events they're able to do whatever they want without dying. Could be wrong idk
Not sure how relevant this is or if it proves anything but I have an encyclopedia of knowledge on this game and will use any opportunity to lore dump
Do remember that nothing is set in stone and plans could have certainly changed since then. The "SURFACE" layer that is mentioned in some of them doesn't even exist anymore from what I can glean from the public lang file changes, and they even said that they might scrap the ending where you remove your chip.
It was originally listed as layer 12, implying it was a physical layer you could go to, but it was removed alongside the final layers receiving their new names.
Still haven’t stopped wanting to beat the company to death with my bare hands. Releasing all the Dunes and Velvets into staff areas of the facilities and whatever happens happens
In fact, considering how the Player is treated by the company, there is a planned option according to Orosnik that "When you find the device you are sent to find, you are given a choice to "Unchip" yourself", which induces braindamage, resulting in a need for Braingrow, else you end up with an INT reduction and suffering reduced mobility.
Choosing to remain "Chipped" results in the ending where the Scientists detonate the Chip.
"Dechipping" yourself, but returning to the Scientists results in you being locked inside a containment tube with some horrid experiment planned.
"Dechipping" while lacking braingrow makes the escape from the area that much harder, since from what was explained, the area starts flooding with either water, or radiation, and you have to outrun the oncoming wall of death.
"Dechipping" and having Braingrow removes the reduced mobility and INT, allowing your escape to be somewhat easier.
Of course, originally, this idea was planned to connect to Gunsaw's timeline, and in this case, the player only survives to the events of gunsaw ifYou find a series of Transference Chips, allowing you to Body-Surf to a random Sawian.
Basically, according to Orosnik's original idea for C:U, once you find the device,The device is destroyed (Meaning the Company Lost), and the Player Sawian "Dies" in the explosion, but since the Player found the Transference Chips, they were able to transfer to a Sawian on the planet, resulting in the Player Saiwan becoming "The Merc" in Gunsaw.
Of course, Orosnik has already made plans to rewrite Gunsaw, so this idea is likely Apocryhal now.
This reminds of an encounter I imagined for the game. You would find a large structure in the deeper caves heavily guarded by turrets. If you managed to make it inside you would find a human who's been imprisoned on the planet. They're some government worker or someone of importance who can't be "dissappeared" without triggering an outside investigation. The company forces them to exchange their bio-signature to extend their contract for their "services" for supply drops.
You could have them disable the chip which removes the decent timer and the health panel. It also turns off the anti-endearment filter, which would let the expie see what a human actually looks like without the static. The human would then treat your injuries, give you food and water, then send you on your way.
I hate this stupid fucking game. It has the cutest little guys ever and all they do is get mutilated, killed, depressed, etc. I want them to be fucking happy why does reddit show me this shit I don't like it
Funnily enough, this was an idea put forward by Orosnik, who stated that: "If you are still chipped and managed to escape, the Company will detonate the Chip, thus killing you."
The idea is that when you get the chance, you are supposed to either 1) start unchipped, or 2) remove the chip once you find the device the company sent you down to find.
Of course, the latter actually was planned to induce Brain damage, which required Braingrow to heal the damage done... If you didn't have braingrow, you would not only suffer an INT reduction, but also have your mobility limited, making escape that much more difficult.
This is why I hate that the chips beep. (In a good way)
Like, they couldnt just have it go off. It has to play a beeping that tells the victim exactly whats happening.
Couldnt let that poor dude die unaware, happy, and hopeful. Just had to rip that away by giving him just enough time to realize what was about to happen.
Also I am very upset you dared to get the lore wrong according to one of the notes they actually would get radiation poisoning upon stepping out!!!11! You disgust me you larper!!!!! /j
Beautiful background, good looking Expie, leaning hopeful… JUST TO SMASH THE ENTIRE CAKE INTO MY FACE xd
Oof, very well done… ~w~
Also curious, incase you don’t know your account is restricted/private making it so people can’t view your posts/art through your profile, would you mind changing it so I can view your other art pieces?(If on purpose then please just ignore me ;-;)
Oh thank you i didn't notice that my account was private T_T
Also I don't post everything On reddit so if you wanna see all my art i'd suggest finding me on insta or twitter
they had it comming i mean what idiot dosnt think to remove their brain chip either way the company dosnt let sawians escape anymore escpecaly after the last breach

I hate you for this
