I will be taking Tuesday (tomorrow) off, got lots of stuff to do that'll make producing a page difficult, and I like being able to give them my all, not half-arsing them. Things will resume as per usual on Wednesday!

It's more that this time, I wrote huge, bold letters to tell me exactly what I need to scrutinise for when I finished the page. And I'm glad I did, cause' I almost forgot the fins on the last panel, again.
Character sheets might help. You know everyone here would flip their shit for detailed sheets of the Hopefulness Crew, and the details you've put into them we all might not have noticed (yet).
I would be very surprised if they did. They have a particular disinterest in fan works generally, or so I've been told. I would not be surprised if they only 'know of' rather than 'have read' the comic.
From what I've been told, it's to do with the 'dissonance' of the game being very dark and serious, and a lot of fan art being light-hearted and jovial.
Which I kinda get. Given that the Sawians generally are part of a vent project, they're meant to suffer and be a part of very dark themes. To then see most people painting them as "silly lil' guys" is probably very frustrating.
I mean I can see it honestly but at the same time I love seeing the goobers happy while acknowledging that C:U is a dark game and a very wonderfully done one that reflects everything it wants to reflect very well
Ya, in their shoes if I made something like C:U in a darker place of my life and everything I saw of it was so happy and gleeful that would honestly take a toll on my mental health, inversely to what you would think.
It’s a good thing my character, milkshake, actively suffers ^^
Though I still dunno what I want to do with them after they get to the gray planet. Should they just die to some bullshit or make a little home studying dna until they die due to accidentally overdoing their own bloodletting (as they need red blood cells to get the raw dna strands)
This is a project that reflects pain, trauma, and despair, so the relationship to their work and the community's interpretation of that work is going to be more complicated than most games.
I like how his is just, reality, it isnt fear, it isnt really trauma it's the fact he IS just worse. It isn't the fear something'll break, but something that realizes it's broken.
The black goo makes me think of the kinds of medical conditions where there's an internal build up of pressure and the patient needs opening up to relieve it.
Honestly I like that Orion is having difficulty apologizing directly here, even though it'd probably go a long way toward easing tensions in this case. Pretty recently I got out of a relationship that had grown toxic, where I eventually realized I'd started to avoid saying "sorry" because I'd learned that saying that kind of thing would be taken as an admission of guilt, regardless of minor the issue had been or if it was a situation where anyone was even guilty at all, and that admission would then be used like a weapon for ridicule and belittling. 'Sorry I'm a few minutes late, had to detour for road work' would be turned into 'So you admit you're too irresponsible to show up on time.'
Given his history, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Orion faced something similar (though I'm sure much more severe). If so, I don't think he's avoiding 'sorry' out of ego or pride, but rather out of learned self-defense.
Orion really feels like he's actively trying to avoid directly saying "I'm sorry" here, probably because he doesn't want to fully admit he was in the wrong, or it'd require swallowing too much of his pride. But hey, this is at least a step in the right direction for him
As a fellow apology hater I get it. Orion has probably received and been forced to make enough insincere apologies to recognise that at best they add nothing and more often are insulting.
But when you genuinely make a mistake that hurt other people and have to be pulled aside to have a talk about the mistake you made, even if you need to fake it because you don't want to say it, an apology goes a very, very long way. You just need to be ready for the consequences if you make that 'mistake' again, whether you apologize, or do what Orion did just now.
As he said in the previous pages: "Any idiot can utter a phrase without substance."
Orion was much probably the first one to apologize in the past, because of his shortcomings, just to be treated like an idiot and told to do better instead of apologize.
So now, he's just applying what that his past treatment taught him, fueled by the irrational fear of being treated like that again.
Which sucks because he's been so arrogant, so defensive, putting himself so far above others and dragging everyone else down to do it. He NEEDS to learn humility, he NEEDS to humble himself. I can't stand arrogance of this level.

orion acts that way because that's how things worked with his milky group. if he ever showed weakness, he was rejected. he's not arrogant, he's just following the rules that he was forced to follow for his entire life
I know. But that justification doesn't make his actions okay. He's still having a severe negative impact on the well-being of well-meaning individuals nearby. His actions, that he is refusing to apologize for because of his ego, is STILL causing them emotional harm.
Having a tragic backstory does not PERMIT you to be an asshole to people who have never wronged you. It is your responsibility, and yours alone, to not choose to harm others, traumatic past or not.

I'm not saying his actions were fine, I just don't think he's doing them because of his ego or because he's an asshole. he legit thinks that's how things work, as seen what his discussion with stringbean.
I know. But thinking that this is just how things work is still making excuses for him. He CANNOT be allowed to continue thinking this bullshit, where it's acceptable to destroy others. It CANNOT be acceptable to treat others with so much goddamn contempt. He is being an asshole to teddy, full stop. An understandable backstory does not change that his actions are asshole actions towards Teddy. I HATE people who say "my actions mean more than my words".
I live with a pathetic fucking excuse for a man that thinks he's ALLOWED to be a fucking cunt, strict and harsh and SCREAMING AT YOU because you made a mistake. And he thinks it's okay, emotions don't matter, the only thing that matters is ACTIONS, as long as he does enough PRACTICAL AND BENEFICIAL THINGS for you, then in his mind he's justified.
Don't worry, I mostly just play up the reaction, it's more funny than anything <3
I think, the main reason I avoid having a proper character/reference sheet is that I'd spend so much effort trying to adhere to it that I wouldn't be doing any interesting poses or expressions or faces. I'd be too busy trying to 'follow the rules' of the sheet.
Yep, Teddy is a freaking absolute unit for even their(or 'his' , it just feels so wrong grammatically to use 'they' especially because I'm Russian) genotype.

Ah yes, Onion refusing to apologize and taking the arrogant route once more as he patches the cracks up, despite knowing how little it's actually going to do. Gonna be fun to watch him be overwhelmed and crack even worse at the worst possible opportunity :)
And thus ends the Milky-Expie War of 2XXX, without foresight that this uneasy armistice will cause the Great Sawian Conflict of Grey Planet in the next few decades.
