This page was fun to make. And fun in the "had I posted this yesterday, it would have probably come with an ominous ¨this page may be the last¨ message" kind of way. I am feeling better for now, so I will probaably continue without much of a break for now.

Discussion tips for item storage

• Upvotes

toolboxes and the backpack are really good at holding water jugs when full (though putting the 3L of water in 4 IV bags would total to 4.4u of weight instead of 5). other items that have the *"can only be held in hands"* may look like they cannot go into a bag on the main slots, but they can so long as they are below the max weight and weight per item limit of that bag. this tripped me up for a while.

Fanfiction / Lore One Day At A Time/Field Report - Surface Readings

• Upvotes

//REPORT LOG FROM EXPEDITION UNIT SAW-03-404216

FILE: GP-0998/Surface Readings

REPORT TYPE: Flora

CLASS: Yellow-Caution

At first, I thought GP-0984 was some sort of sick joke. Going to the surface, what a cruel thought. Brought this up to my squad and they all said we should head to the surface ourselves, 903712 even claimed that they may have found a tunnel out of here. Some days I swear those three share the same brain cell, they make an Orange look intelligent.

However today, I lost a bet that our Chip's protocols were going to kick in before we saw light. Although I'm not proud that I'm going to have to eat a fistful of dry leaves, it is quite amazing up here.

All of the following data was collected over the span of two Earth weeks. Yes, I specified because this planet is not on the same cycle as Earth. We hope to find more data as this expedition continues, but so far these are our early findings. However, without the proper equipment, I doubt we'll be able to get the full picture. How long is a year here? What is the atmosphere's composition? How big is this planet even? These and quite a few more questions we are unable to answer thoroughly if at all.

Day/Night: To start, as mentioned previously, this planet's celestial cycles are drastically off from Earth's. One Sol here is roughly 72 Earth hours. Either the planet rotates that slowly or it is that massive, we're unsure yet as we don't have the proper tools. Days and Nights can prove to be dangerous, since our circadian rhythm operates on a 24 hour cycle. Without knowing the nuances of this planet's climates, Days have a danger of causing heatstroke while Nights can cause hypothermia if the proper precautions aren't taken.

-00:00 = Start of our count, crack of Dawn.

-00:00 - 06:00 = Dawn continues

-06:00 - 36:00 = primary Day, can be dangerous or at the very least inconvenient for us.

-36:00 - 42:00 = sun begins to set, Dusk period

-42:00 - 72:00 = primary Night, again can be dangerous.

Air: The planet's atmosphere seems similar to Earth's. May strangely be better than Earth's, I feel like I can take a fuller breath. Referencing my Chip, at first I thought it was just a hiccup with the software, but I consistently see my O2 constantly fluctuate between 101% and 105%, up to a spike of 108%, everyone else reports the same. All of my vitals appear normal otherwise, I don't see any malicious Moodles and I actually feel a bit better than normal. Somehow despite being a vast wasteland of grays with one plant here and there, there's a bit more Oxygen on the surface than in the caves.

Water: Microbial and particulate readings are the same on the surface as in the caves, recommend only comsuming the water here after it is thoroughly boiled or if a Filter Straw is on one's person. Interestingly, there are no traces of Lumalgae in the water here, at least in this area.

Soil: Up in higher elevations across several samples, the soil composition looked like it would be compatible for bountiful agriculture, if one wanted to grow only potatoes. Unfortunately, pH levels are too basic for the majority of terran plants, unless they mutate quickly to adapt to the planet's soil or, again, if one's satisfied with growing nothing but potatoes. I swear, they can grow anywhere. Closer to "sea level" isn't any better, the lower the elevation, the sample readings tend to contain more and more sand, so unless one's interested in trying to grow cacti, I don't think terran agriculture could exist here without generations worth of testing and possibly cross breeding. Obviously however, the local flora seems to root just fine, so maybe there's potential there.

Meteorology: Weather patterns seem to be similar to Earth's. There was some light rain here for a few hours. Luckily we were camped out under a rock overhang. It didn't hurt, the raindrops didn't feel heavy, nothing pointed at acid rain or any other malicious occurrences. It was quite pleasant, a couple of us took the opportunity to "shower" ourselves quickly.

Tectonics: Mostly a moot point due to our lack of proper equipment, but it is a point of curiosity. Obviously, eathquakes and tremors happen below the surface, one happened on our way out of the caverns, but what of the surface? So far nothing, not even any evidence of volcanic activity either, but that's not to say it doesn't happen.

Climate: Although I can't say for certain how the climate is throughout the rest of the surface, in the area we are in it's pretty moderate. Temperature readings tend to average around 21°C at Day/10°C at Night. We don't have the tools to get humidity, but regardless it's quite the comfortable temperature.

//END OF REPORT

Master File

Hello again Sawians!

Got another wave of surface headcannoning here! I am in no ways a professional in these kinds of things, so that's partly why I tried to keep stuff basic and vague. :p

Getting close to doing the final teaser, so hopefully the next comic strip is out within a week! :)

Definitely a drawing I'm proud of. Wasn't too sure I would make it right, the sketch looked a little rough, but after adding details, coloring it in, and adding a background, it turned out very well. I don't often do backgrounds. It's one of my big mistakes, so I'm very happy with this result :b

I remember that shoes were a thing you could get in this game. Are they made specifically for expies or are they just human shoes that just happened to somewhat fit?

Hello. Im not sure if you guys are active on r/sawianshitposting and saw the Roza x Voyager art and my comment of a hybrid of the 2.

Well, this is the said hybrid. I have decided to call it Rozyger as i found it cute. Plus, this artwork is a work of my best friend (the one behind the Experiment that blew your minds, they were very grateful and promised they will make future art better)

They would much appreciate your guy's comment AND what you like and what would you change about it.

Now for this: i know im very active on Reddit which might annoy some. Im trying to calm myself down.

Another is that i worry people think this text is all generated, i take immense pride into writing this whole

The story idea:

I saw many original stories/comkcs posted on this subreddit that i love to read and i was inspired to make my own. What do you say?

Im sorry if anybody doesnt like it, everything cant be anybody's cup of coffe.

Have a nice day.

Sincerely, G5

Discussion can i be honest and say i don't like the observer

one of cas:u's biggest strengths for its atmosphere was its intimacy, it was just you and the guy you're directing down the planet. it sold the loneliness so well, made everything feel like your fault, your bad decisions, you caused this poor thing to suffer. but now there's just this... other thing? that speaks to you? and taunts you? and also apparently the directing thing isn't canon and you're just supposed to be the expie itself but the observer still talks to you and not the expie? i'm not crazy for thinking this is just a massive downgrade in both lore and immersion right

Discussion Uses of Flour items.

Hey y'all,

This is a discussion of the uses of flour items.

Currently, there is only one flour item, rye flour, which lasts 5 hours, weighs 0.5u and costs 2 trade credit. You can buy it from traders or craft it from 1u valueless rye bulb drops using 0.5 hammering, which both makes storing the rye bulbs more compact, and gives you discovered crafting recipe. The bulbs 30 minute decay time isn't worth attempting to maximize around. the extra space isn't worth squeezing an extra 30 minutes over an already overkill 5 hour decay time.

There are 3 recipes you can make with them. I think it is worth it to craft all of them at least once, because they each give you at least 20 hunger solving on top of the mood and int exp boost of a new recipe.

Each recipe takes one rye flour to make and 1 heatsource. I will be assuming that you eat them all at once to keep this somewhat short, and only noting how long it takes to lose a bite.

Starting with Bread because it is the simplest.

It costs 150 water quality to make and you get 0.75u, 8 trade value item. If you use clean water that's 13.5 quenching you forgo to make it.

The bread itself gives you 6 hydration and 27 filling, so that's really only 7.5 hydration for 27 hunger, IF you use the most efficent source of water quality. .

i find it really useful to use less efficent sources of water quality, mostly a mix of hell mixture mini-barrels (using dirty water for example) and chocolate milk/alcohol.

It takes at least 1 hour to lose a bite of bread, and you gain 0.51 kg directly eating it

Trade value wise, you are generally gives up 2 for the flour and 2 for the water quality for net 4, which generally pays for the cost of the campfire, while not requiring fluid containers or temporary bottle management to use.

Next is Pancakes

Pancakes costs 100 water quality and 100ml tree sap to make a 0.8u 12 value item. using clean water, that's 13 hydration and 4.5 hunger given up to make it, as well as 0.17 kg weight. and about 0.8 sickness and 0.5 mood

Pancakes give you 30 hunger and 3.75 mood, 4.5 sickness, and 1.23 kg weight in 3 bites, making this easily twice as fattening as bread, but it takes about have an hour to lose a bite.

Pancakes are ... hard to set-up, but you just need to get lucky with a mini barrel or be in layer 5 to have roughly the same set-up cost as bread.

Not as good long term storage of hunger as bread, but a bit better at producing trade value, as tree sap and clean water are 15 and 14 trade value respectively, so the fluid bit of the recipes costs about 3 vs bread's 2, but you get an extra 4 trade value.

Next is Nutrint Bar,

This requires no water but 25 fat quality and durability 50% produce to produce a 0.5u 10 value item.

This gives you 37.5 hunger and 0.406 across 3 bites that don't decay, ever, making this the best storage of pure hunger satisfying in the game at not much weight gain.

Unlike water and tree sap, the food/drink parts of a bar craft are not ... particularly easily stored and consumed. You aren't forgoing 150 to 200 ml of perfectly drinkable fluids, but like 0.25u or 25 ml in fat worth of somewhat sickening and/or upsetting meat items, and using produce that is either somewhat dangerous to eat (all custom produce besides geofruit) or decays really fast (geofruit).

Which makes it arguably the best flour use in terms of storing hunger, but can be somewhat finicky to set-up, given produce limits.

Looking this over I think the key takeaway is that rye flour is worth considering as a 20+ hunger 0.5u item that doesn't really decay edible (5 hours is overkill) that requires some finessing to actually eat, and gives you access to 3 recipes for mood and int exp. Bread is the easiest and decently long lasting, while the pancakes is the mood and weight option that is medium long lasting that needs a harder to source liquid, and the nutrient bar is the best in class hunger solution that actually requires a decent amount of set-up (meat/produce is somewhat bulky and can't be processed into less bulky stuff without a heatsource, and fat shouldn't be stored in your drinking fluids.)

Note

The game engine could easily support a bag of flour type item with more than 1 flour quality, but I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't happen in the Nov 9 out of demo/EA/now a full game release

(Dialogue for 2nd picture because I FORGOT TO LEAVE SPACE FOR TEXT)

Biscuit: What do we do with Orion? We have to move out but they're still sleeping...

Stringbean: I guess we'll have to take them with us. Teddy, are you able to carry them?

Teddy: I can, but if they call me a fat oaf again I'm throwing them into a hole...

(3 Doritos later...)

Biscuit: Are you sure you're not overencumbered carrying them?

Teddy: Nah... They're smaller and lighter than I thought. I feel if I sneeze they'll explode.

Biscuit: Snicker Well, it does make sense... Just... try not to drop them.

YES I KNOW MILKIES AREN'T CATS BUT I'M GONNA MAKE THIS ADORABLE PRECIOUS MILKY PURR BECAUSE IT'S CUTE RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH (raig)

Anyways, this is a joint collab-style drawing that u/roblox_cat and I did, for u/bluewolf3691. We kinda had the same/similar idea about Orion being gonked out of their shmeeve for so long the team may as well carry them if they wanted to leave. (Especially considering how narcoleptic these creatures are... which I'm uncertain if Bluewolf actually planned for their comic [Would explain Orion not waking up in said nightmare, as far as I'm aware narcolepsy causes extremely vivid and horrible hallucinations/nightmares in your sleep])

Poor thing was so goddamn eepy that they needed to be picked up and taken around like another item. Next thing you know they'll legitimately be an item with a description like

"Orion"
"They're knocked out. Seems like it'll take a while for them to wake up."
"Weight: 0.50u"

And yes, Roblox_cat gave me permission to post both their artwork and mine (Then again I did offer them if they wanted to post them both instead xp) cuz it's so hilarious we basically thought the same thing based on a random comment of a foliage bag

I hope all Orion and Teddy enjoyers appreciate this drawing and I hope it brings a smile to everyone's faces. Remember to stay positive and smile :D. Even if Orion barely smiles themselves (I'm gonna sic Teddy to hug them and never let them go and keep them like a squeaky plushie)

Also, Biscuit paw looks off in the top panel because they're amputee on the arm that would be closest to Orion, so they need to use their other paw to gently scratch their head. Orion would probably never accept that kind of treatment but they're asleep sooooooo :3c

(i fucking made them have school bags because i have ZERO clue how to color their damn bags in the first place. dont judge me the comic is literally outline-only)

Either way... I hope you all get a laugh out of this and find both these artworks cute <3. Go shower u/roblox_cat with love too since they drew the first picture. And we both wish you to have a lovely day <3.

stop hesitatting with your anxiety and post the thing ive been here an hour staring at the "publish" button save meeeeeee. \)Pseudoshork worried noises\)

Fanfiction / Lore "CARGO. RETURN. FREEDOM." / A-0000002 Reports — Part 1

[AUDIO FILE DETECTED, PLAYING RECORDING, TRANSCRIPT COMPILED]

Alright, seems like this thing’s recording. Fuck. So, today’s, uh, day one on this “Target” planet. I... fuck, what do I even say? How do those four-eyed bastards even write their fucking reports?

Anyway, name’s [REDACTED], number, uh, “A-0000002”. They dropped me down here to grab some cargo, sooo...

They issued me a fucking AK-100. At first I was like, what the fuck? Why the hell did they give me some grandpa-era antique? And they tell me, “Be grateful you got anything at all, mutt. They could’ve sent you down there with fucking nothing.”

They gave me six mags too. I was thinking to myself, “Wait, I signed that fucking contract?”... Oh right, the contract. Basically: “Cargo. Return. Freedom.” And cash. A shitload of cash.

Lost my train of thought there. Ah yeah, gear. They gave me a brand-new jetpack with an extended fuel tank. I’ve worked with these babies before, so nothing new for me.

They gave me a last-gen smart helmet, [REDACTED]. Pretty fucking good — night vision, combat analysis, target acquisition, recording, etc. Had those too, though I’ve worked with newer ones.

An all-inclusive mini-exo. So yeah, like they didn’t send me into a cave on the “Target Planet”, but into a fucking assault op.

Like I’m gonna have to shoot somebody... Oh yeah, and if you four-eyed intellectuals can hear me: I’m not used to fighting without drones, so if anything goes wrong, feel free to write me down as Cargo 200 right away...

So what else... Oh, the small shit: MREs — they told me right away there wouldn’t be enough for the trip there and back, eat whatever the fuck you find; water purification tubes; a flashlight, in case the helmet breaks; a laser drill; a shitload of batteries and power cells.

Basically, the suit’s packed to the fucking brim. Med kit’s decent too...
So, I think I’ve covered all the starting bullshit.

The capsule was tiny. They shoved me in there like a fucking mutt in a kennel. Then again, I’d already done ten years inside — wasn’t exactly new to me.

The airlocks opened, and I smelled...
Death. Went down. At first I thought it was a Cargo 200 in black camo... Took a closer look. Nope. Some dog-like thing with a big tail ending in orange and dog-like legs.

Got closer. Yeah, no — that sure as hell wasn’t no fucking dog. The front legs looked way too much like human arms, except the claws were way too long; the back legs were like a dog’s.
Head covered in yellow blood, three fuzzy horns that I first took for ears. Didn’t feel like checking the guts — the thing stank way too much...

My helmet, by the way, flagged the corpse when I looked at the head. Gave me a report: MSN-CARGO, whatever, date, #424652 SAW-01, physical status — deceased (no shit), last mental status: “Suicidal tendencies”...

There was depth, calories, and the best part, fuck — casualties: “Unknown + 4276”...
Those four-eyed bastards didn’t tell me half the story. Apparently, I’m not the first one in this cave. Then again, maybe I’m lying — maybe I’m the first Human here...

Anyway, I’ll describe the caves later. Decided to head back to my capsule for now and record a report. That’s all, folks.

[END OF RECORDING]
