This doesn't surprise me after last semester when there was no acknowledgement of Charlie Kirk's death. Political affiliation aside, he was still murdered on a college campus for his political views. That SHOULD warrant a response from all college campuses nationwide, so that their students and faculty feel safe. President McKinnon is a coward, plain and simple.

Charlie Kirk hasn't said anything stupid for 7 months now

He never said anything stupid to begin with. Just because people disagree with you, doesn't make their statement stupid, it makes you ignorant. And clearly, from the replies to my statement, going to college doesn't make you intelligent.

Why would there be a reason to acknowledge Charlie Kirk’s death? Lmao he was a podcaster who had no connections to CMU.

Did you read my entire statement or just the Charlie Kirk part and ran with it? I said, the fact that he was a political leader and was killed on a college campus for and/or while he was talking about his beliefs. What's so hard to understand about that? It made conservatives afraid to be open about their political beliefs and fear has no place on campus. If it was Jasmine Crockett who was killed for being a Democrat, I'd feel the exact same way.

He wasn’t a political leader. He was a podcaster who wrote books on how to be MAGA and fought with children 10+ years younger than him, doctoring the footage to make himself look superior. To be a political leader you need to actually be a politician.
Have you ever even been to CMU? Anything like that not directly related to the college is usually handled by RSOs. And there WAS a Charlie Kirk memorial on campus! And it wasn’t fought against or stopped!! Because most of us are mature enough to realize that there will be events we don’t want to be a part of and that’s okay.

There are political events for all sides of the spectrum on campus. There are even Jehovahs Witnesses and abortion protestors all the time. CMU is a relatively conservative campus tbh. The CMU College Republicans group is very active. I can promise you, conservatives have no need to fear about speaking their opinions here.

No, you don't have to be a politician to be a political leader. Trump has ONLY ever been president, never serving in Congress, and when he wasn't president for 4 years, his influence still reigned supreme over current Republicans in office. He's not a politician by any means yet I would still say he's a political leader.
There was a candlelight vigil for Charlie but it wasn't announced outside of small circles. When you say he was only podcaster who wrote books on "how to be MAGA," what does that even mean? How can anyone write a book on how to be Make America Great Again? Do you see how that statement makes ZERO sense when you actually say the words of the acronym? And you said you went to CMU? Did you graduate?
Do you understand how public universities operate? Anybody can go on campus and preach what they want. That doesn't mean the campus as a whole is conservative, it's actually far from it. Most public universities are very liberal, you can tell by what's taught in the school and what's not taught.

Ahh, you’re just trying to start shit. Got it.
I’m not interacting with this anymore. Try rage baiting someone else. Or get a hobby.

I understand that he needs resources and help but the overall lack of response by the police department and campus is glaring. Students realized this was going on early Sunday and the majority of campus was still completely unaware on Monday morning. CMUPD was so vague about it on FB and then refused to elaborate further and the university begrudgingly sent out an email right before noon, almost 24 hours after it started. Police chief and the university need to come up with a better policy to alert students to potential dangers because this whole “he doesn’t have the means” is completely bullshit. ANYONE can get a gun or weapon in 2026 in America, and to see them grossly ignoring his messages and threats is extremely upsetting.
